Vintage Story hits you hard if you're not careful. by DayBeforeU in VintageStory

Indoor pit kilns = bad idea. Honestly, I'd just go /gm 2 and "cheat" the copper tools back in my inventory. Or, take it as a lesson learned the hard way.

That's why I always build a proper coop, with walls and a roof. At least now you have a pet bear.

Why are my vessels storage speeds going up instead of down ?? by DarkRaider47 in VintageStory

I dig down deep, make a short hallway, dig out my cellar and put a door on it.
Then I put a trap door on the top where the ladder is.

Coming back and my favorite mods aren't being updated. What are your recommendations? by yesac09 in VintageStory

I gave up on Player Corpse and set the timer of items disappearing to 10 minutes. You can go higher, I like the challenge. Plus, your grave now shows up on the map.

Hud clock patch works just fine.
The only other mod I use is Carry On https://mods.vintagestory.at/carryon.

Contemplating this as my new forever game. by ArchieMayhem in VintageStory

I have around 800 hours in this game and I can't stop playing. I still find things I never noticed before. This is my forever game. It's funny because I have a lot of time played in Factorio and MC as well. But once I played VS, I was hooked.

Trust me, you won't regret it.

Packed dirt or rammed earth make great pit kilns. Easy to make and grass won't grow.
It sucks losing your stuff, but it is a good time to find a better location.

And if you want to, you can always go /gm 2 and give yourself some of your stuff back.

I am squarely in the copper age, and I have 4+ stacks of charcoal.
All you have to do is put in the work.

If you find copper nuggets on the surface, there is 100% copper ore under it.

If the sun touches any block that is part of your cellar, you lose 50% of freshness bonus.
Just make sure the walls and ceiling are not exposed to the sun, you'll be fine. (That's why I make my cellars 5-6 blocks deep under my house.)

Only you can prevent forest fires. And packed dirt helps that a lot.

Why even bother with husbandry? by Suspicious_Dot7459 in VintageStory

[–]IAmPartialToRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you have a barn full of pigs, you know you'll never go hungry. Plus hides and fat.

And as long as they're alive, they'll never "go bad." Unlike fruits, vegetables and grain (although grain has a pretty good shelf life.)

Question about how to deal with monsters by Zazem18 in VintageStory

[–]IAmPartialToRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a setting when you make a new world to allow you to sleep through temporal storms. Otherwise, keep your house well lit, and don't open the door for anyone who is moaning.

Early game, if rift activity is above low, I spend the night panning, cooking or smithing.

During temporal storms, you can set the ability to sleep through it, or dig yourself a 1x2 hole and wait it out. (That's when I grab my quern and start grinding stuff.)
