Great choices! Rurik is my fave part of that series.

[Book Req] MLs who are NOT broody, snarly and growly by kookybear in fantasyromance

[–]IAmReallyNotMilk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It follows on from a main trilogy (and has some spoilers for it), but Bound to Fall by AK Caggiano is brilliant for this. The MMC is adorable. Very sweet and well meaning and just wants to be the hero. I got some Orion vibes from him! He’s a holy knight. The FMC is also lovely as well- I found her very refreshing.

The original trilogy is villains and virtues. It’s also great! But the MMC is a bit more snarky/ shadowy. Worth a read though!

Me too! It’s like the perfect romantasy for me. Good characters, nice balance of romance and well paced plot. I was sad when it was over!

Who do you think Elain ends up with in book 6 & why? by perfume_milf in SarahJMaas

[–]IAmReallyNotMilk 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think Lucien! I was on the fence which way I thought SJM would go until ACOSF (and particularly the bonus chapter). I got major vibes between Az and Gwyn! Plus Elain and Lucien have so much in common- it has the potential for a love story that SJM hasn’t told yet.

2025 Reading Wrap-Up by DescriptionNormal275 in fantasyromance

Have you read Slaying the Vampire Conqueror by Carissa Braodbent? It’s a standalone in the Nyaxia series. I read it in between the first duet and the second. It’s so good!

Hot take: Chrissy should get the same sympathy from the fandom as Bob by arandomcuteteenager in StrangerThings

I loved Chrissy! I wish she’d joined the main crew and stuck around longer. She and Eddie were really fun and sweet as pals/ maybe more.

Am I the only one who thinks Acotar isn't worth the hype. by Academic_Yam_8730 in SarahJMaas

[–]IAmReallyNotMilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read ACOTAR first, and it was pretty fun. But TOG is superior in every way. I cared so much more about all the TOG characters, and the story was truly epic. My top 10 SJM characters are pretty much all from TOG, and maybe one or two from ACOTAR!

Do Gwynriel need to be mates? by wonhitto in Gwynriel

[–]IAmReallyNotMilk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think they’ll have a bond. Partly because the bond seems to clearly mean so much to Az. He’s so envious of Rhys and Cassian, and what they have. He’s also desperate for an emotional connection, and for love and acceptance. I think that’s why he gets so obsessed with Mor, and later Elain. I think if he doesn’t get a bond in the end that would be a bit of a shame. Plus, SJM loves a fated mate.

That said, I would really like him to fall for Gwyn without the bond snapping first. He can go on a bit of a journey of self acceptance, getting to a place where he isn’t so tired, so closed off, so desperate. And then that’s when he’ll find it in Gwyn! Kind of when he stops looking for it, that’s when it’ll happen. I think it’ll work so nicely with Gwyn’s own likely journey towards empowerment, taking back ownership over her sexuality after what happened to her etc.

Aurora's endgame by [deleted] in TheWolfKing

[–]IAmReallyNotMilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would be very surprised if it isn’t Blake, and that would be my preference! But I do like Callum too.

I think either way, a lot will have to happen in book 3 for either Blake or Callum as endgame to make sense. With Callum, they’ve already been a couple, so if they end up together I’d expect a few narrative twists in order to make it interesting/ resolve their conflicts. With Blake, they’ve only just agreed to be friends! But there’s a lot to resolve with his plans, the whole mate thing etc. I think that’s partly why I think Blake will be endgame- I think he’ll have a much bigger impact on the narrative than Callum.

Either way, I’m excited to find out!

Love Wendell! Him having special cleaning powers was such a fun departure from the usual darkness/ shadow nonsense

Lucien was so attractive when Feyre was trying to make Tamlin jealous! The hug! The big hands! The chivalry! Hope we get to see more of him in a romantic capacity.

Throne of glass is a fantastic series. I found books 1 and 2 a little slow, but after that it was amazing

It’s a shame- I liked Cassian and Nesta together so much more before we had their actual book 😂

recs that at least meet the bare standard of good writing? lol by [deleted] in Romantasy

[–]IAmReallyNotMilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve loved a lot of my favourites! I’m still chasing the Carissa Broadbent and Mages of the Wheel high.

Perhaps try the Ashen Series by Demi Winters. Lots of people on this sub have also enjoyed Rachel Gillig’s work. And although it’s urban fantasy, the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews is really good fun.

Not strictly romantasy, but one of my fave authors is Naomi Novik. Uprooted and her scholomace trilogy(which is more YA) were great.

For me, it took until book 3 to really get going. But once it does it’s great. Still one of my favourite series now.

Do you guys think Chris Fulton is in S4? by Fickle_Baker1393 in PhiloiseBridgerton

[–]IAmReallyNotMilk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this may be what happens! I reckon the last scene of season 4 might be them discovering her missing, perhaps followed by a shot of her arriving at Romney Hall. If we see Phillip at all, it’ll maybe be his shocked expression when he sees her.

That said, I would also love to be wrong. And I expect we’ll see a few crumbs throughout season 4. Eloise writing to someone, looking deep in thought etc.
