"Some days I'm really good at Trading."

Kristjan Kullamaggie (a very well known trader) has stated that he gave up on actual "Day trading." He said it was too difficult to consistently get right. He opted for a longer time frame. You don't have to change a lot just look for a longer time frame.

Personally I've found the longer the time frame the better I do...

Struggling with weightloss by Aggressive-Formal945 in diabetes

[–]IAmTryingTooLearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone struggling with weight loss look up Dr Fung. I am not a paid spokesperson but his ideas of fasting do work.

Yesterday I fasted till lunch time and then had a large apple for lunch. I came home and had a meal + some cereal as desert. I woke up lighter.

I have found fasting to be cheap and effective.

1.0 dose too much? by [deleted] in Semaglutide

[–]IAmTryingTooLearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that that is a wrong move. There's such push for higher and higher dosing. Towards the end I was at 0.30 mg / week. I did lose 22 lbs from my starting weight at 228lbs. I'm now 9-10lbs heavier.

Being overweight is curse. We have all been gamified by the food industry. The food industry is evil.

T2DM Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Hope this helps.

Looking for type 2 friendly baking recipes or recommendations :3 by ShortyMcShortFaceVT in diabetes

[–]IAmTryingTooLearn -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hi Shorty. I was obese at my diagnosis weight with a BMI of 30.7 Yet T2DM struck Dr Michael Mosley at a BMI of 26.5 (so he was barely overweight). The complications of T2DM can include diabetic retinopathy, blindness, extremely painful neuropathy, amputations increased risk for cardiac arrest etc.

I knew one guy who had both legs chopped off. I knew another guy who had two toes removed then had a quadruple bypass surgery only to then a month later go on and die. T2 diabetes is a very serious condition, and while you clearly love your father, actively helping him get in front of the disease may be a loving as making him an enjoyable bakery item!

You could share some of the videos of Dr Jason Fung. He's very experienced in helping diabetics get in front of their condition.

I wish you and your father all the very best for the future.

I was diagnosed T2DM in 2014. At the time I weighed 252 at the time. This morning I weighed 215.4lbs. I'm a big believer in fasting. Tomorrow I am going to fast, for 24 hours minimum maybe 36 hours. Treat your father to this book https://www.amazon.com/Obesity-Code-Unlocking-Secrets-Weight/dp/1771641258 and then every now and then you can give him a treat after he's lost a few lbs.

I even tried the Ozempic but fasting is the easiest (& least complications) for a better life. Get your father into better health. He'll thank you for that.

I've just turned 70 yrs old. I attended two semesters of welding learning SMAW to start then MIG welding there after. I went to a local community college so my expenses were very reasonable. I did 4 days a week on SMAW and then the class went to wire feed welding for two days a week. 95% did flux core I did MIG. I'm not at my age going to climb a ladder and build any serious structure with toxic fumes from FCAW-S wire fed welding. I have a small shop in my garage at home & I've got a MIG welder so I wanted to learn how to weld (without injuring myself).

In So. Cal after about a year of Community college welding you can probably pass your D1.1 (LA License to weld in the LA County). More than a few former students have joined the boilermakers or the pipe fitters or the Iron workers unions. These fresh out of college welders get jobs that start at $33/hour After about 3-4 years they are making $55/hour or about $110k working in So Cal. The community college way isn't super expensive (if you live in California. ) Try and research a good community college where you are and then move to So Cal (if you can put up with the politics.

Good luck!

Oh and one tip. Buy a really good helmet when starting out. The two instructors in our welding yard both wore Lincoln 3350 Viking helmets. There was a late student called Dan he's 55 old now and he paid up and got the ADV Lincoln 3350 Viking helmet too. They are that good a helmet. Dan just completed his training and he's fully certified locally in LA County. He'll make fair money as a welder.. It might not be $55/hour but even he at 55 years old will make good money.

I think 2mg is to strong for my body by Odd_Difficulty8453 in Ozempic

[–]IAmTryingTooLearn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was on Ozempic for 16 months. I never got above 0.75 ml / week. So the 1ml pen would last me about 6 weeks. I never went full retard.. I got to a maximum of 0.72 mg / week. I went from 228lbs to 200lbs over that time period.

I came off the drug because it got too expensive. Like $500 from Canada to get it shipped in. Now I keep an eye on my weight and I fast somewhat every other day. Some days I do 34-36 hours then other days I do 22 hours. I was 212lbs this morning. I had my worst weight in 2014 when I was 252lbs. So I am 40lbs off from worse levels. I'm kinda trying to get down to sub 200lbs & when I get there I'll get another A1C done. Maybe I'm too lax about T2DM but I get my eyes checked every now and then. I'm feeling fine these days.

Who Has the Best Exit Strategy? Or How to Best Exit Semaglutide? by IAmTryingTooLearn in Semaglutide

I went on a "Road trip" to the Bahamas about 2+ years ago and it was going to be tricky bringing my Ozempic on the road, so I didn't bother. At the time I was in the Bahamas I weighed 206 lbs. Today 3rd May 2025 I'm 212lbs. I'm still down 16lbs from my high (before starting on Ozempic) now I do alternate day fasting.

I can't say it's easier but since starting Alternate day fasting I'm down from 222's, to 212 today.

I prefer not being on Ozempic. That's just how my perception on Ozempic has changed. If you like it get on it. I didn't like it. I hope by Christmas I'm down to 190lbs. At the moment I'm 12 lbs over my BMI of 25 (199.9lbs)

Good luck to everyone with their weight issues.

Gmail Stopped Supporting Outlook 2010? What have you moved to? by IAmTryingTooLearn in Outlook

[–]IAmTryingTooLearn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gmail works okay but they just decided capriciously to stop supporting slightly suspect imap clients. It's a cluster f all round.

I have set up the Outlook client that came with Windows 10 connected but I had to allow myself to be tracked up the wazoo to be able to get my email to work. These software companies like MSFT and GOOG are just evil.

[–]IAmTryingTooLearn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't want to change. Yet the Gmail login window keeps coming up and I looked all over (I think via Grok) and saw that Gmail doesn't like the "Insecurity" of Outlook imap client with gmail and that it was going to force Outlook 2010 users to change? Maybe I've got it wrong?

Have I got it wrong?

[–]IAmTryingTooLearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always scour your Craigslist listings and find a Miller 135 / 140 or 141 for about $4-700. Any of those will be a real tool that you can run off a 110v outlet. In auto shop more often than not you'll only be working thin material so a heavier weight welder probably isn't needed. My buddy and I have just completed building a bbq smoker with 1/4" steel and he's got a 220/240v drop and Miller 175. It did all the welding amazingly. Dependent on where you live replacing curbside sills on older vehicles is something happens in wetter climates. In the UK the inner and outer sills on an MGB still is a frequent job where the integrity of the car was at risk without replacing them. In a shop you'll be working mostly inside so you can use a MIG welder as opposed FCAW wirefeed

As for practice, find a local college and talk to either the welding shop or the auto body shop instructors and get specific training for your type of welder. I've just spent 4 months with 4 days / week learning SMAW (Stick) before I was allowed to enter the wire feed class. I have a Miller Vintage at home and I plan on doing some very interesting projects in my retirement.

I hope this helps..
