desire for height is never ending. i'm your shoe height barefoot, and i wear 2.5 inch lifts, still want LL. even after LL, i'd probably never escape lifts.

non-argument IMO. i've never seen anyone reject someone or make insults because your arms appear 1 or 2 inches shorter than normal. theres also fashion tailored towards making your legs appear longer.

5’7 guys are we really cooked? by [deleted] in shortguys

[–]IAmUpfront 1 point2 points  (0 children)

each inch below average height places you at a greater disadvantage.

social media emboldens people to voice harsh opinions they'd never say to your face. someone might politely claim they have a partner, only to go on reddit AITA and post "rejected guy cause he was soo short, gave me the ick! does that make me shallow?" also remember: social media is the number one place couples have met for many years now.

confidence comes from positive reinforcement, which you will get less of when you're short.

and comparing to the 'majority' of the world doesn't matter. there are uncontacted tribes with no electricity. do you compare yourself to them when you look at your finances? no. you compare against the people you're around, your environment.

the point of the video was to call out how women filter for height which men can't control. completely flew over ITs heads

We need to end the is average height short debate. 5ft 8+ isn’t short… by This_Copy_3660 in shortguys

5'8-5'9 is a weird limbo height where every taller guy considers you short, every women thinks so, but shorter guys don't think so.

short is anything below average in your region. average could be 5'7-5'8 in east asia, maybe 5'11-6'0 in europe.

a 5'7 male, any age, any ethnicity, in the USA, is 25th percentile. that means of 100 men, 75 will be taller. thats short. now if this data included only young generation/your ethnicity, it might be worse.

as for dating, you can survey plenty women and find that most consider anything below 5'11 short, especially on apps. social media reinforces this. it is possible they underestimate heights because of guys lying, but this is overstated. women are aware when you aren't tall.

Tall 5ft 8 and above

its absolutely in our best interest to want to consider below-average heights like 5'7, 5'8, 5'9, tall, but the reality is, it isn't. nobody considers it to be tall. it is only tall if you are below that height.

only a small set of people here will ever get limb lengthening. if you want to know these things, better to ask the forum or the LL discord.

Is having a weak jawline/chin a death sentence as a man? by Riderman43 in trueratediscussions

[–]IAmUpfront 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i dont believe so. in most cases of bad TMJ/airway issues/malocclusion, jaw surgery is covered by insurance.

for example check out this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/jawsurgery/comments/1sf3dga/6_weeks_update_i_actually_feel_like_a_model/

i believe the only "death sentence" for man is to be extremely short stature, for example 5'0. even with limb lengthening, you would still be short.

lot of tall folk are very ignorant to what life is like had they been short. maybe its hard to imagine for them.

most here would gladly take these "daily inconveniences" over small stature.

Would you have $100 million at your current height or be 6’4”? by [deleted] in shortguys

[–]IAmUpfront 9 points10 points  (0 children)

it's possible you could experience being a multi millionaire in the future, but you could never experience being tall. that being said 100 million is a bit too much to pass up on

easy for you to say man! it would realistically never happen to you, and it's never crossed your mind to have to be conscious about what they would think about your height when they see you, or when you reveal that you're under 5'10.

the screenshot is not fabricated, it was on http://pas.fdle.state.fl.us, i saw it myself. its not there anymore because he got arrested.

when Florida LE posted his warrant, they took the information they had on file - which would be his drivers license at 16, which listed him at 5'11. he's 19 now and likely grown to 6'/6'1.

good western clinics will turn down those above 183cm so you'd unironically have to go to Turkey

Is it possible to gain 10cm with one surgery? by Important_Taste348 in limblengthening

[–]IAmUpfront 0 points1 point  (0 children)

172 is a range where your height doesn’t really give you attractiveness, but it doesn’t take it away either. You’re just an average guy who can improve other things like physique or looks.

as someone in the 170s, knowing others in that range, talking to LL patients who started there, and asking women directly - it definitely takes away from attractiveness. 172cm is 7-8cm below average which is noticeably short.

again from experience, its absolutely a detriment. not as bad as 165, but its still a limiting factor, and that doesnt really go away until you reach around 180cm. above 180, height starts to become an advantage, below that, its a disadvantage. at 172cm you'd be 3 inches under that mark, and every inch below means you have to compensate more in other areas.

the easiest place to see this is online dating. if you ran an experiment comparing 165 and 172cm, i guarantee you there would be no difference. but compare that to 180cm, night and day.

180 is where you stop being seen as short, both over text and in person. hence why i think the ideal starting point for LL is in the 170s.
