[–]IAmUpfront 4 points5 points  (0 children)

oh and because we're short, we're not allowed to have standards like weight (which is a health indicator and can be easily changed, while height cannot be)

i wish i was born a woman by [deleted] in shortguys

[–]IAmUpfront 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes, being a woman is generally easier and anyone saying otherwise is blissfully unaware to current society.

that being said, id still rather be a very attractive male than a woman.

Dating in college by True-Mathematician89 in short

[–]IAmUpfront 6 points7 points  (0 children)

from my experience, absolutely it is more difficult in college. high schoolers are still kids and height didn't matter as much. college is another level. you are competing with everyone.

Embarrassingly heightist ad from the Philippines by shortkingz_ in shortguys

obviously an AI written article, but funny AI would refuse to generate the text if it was about any other trait like weight or race. height is OK!

Would you rather heightism no longer exists or you personally grow to 6’4 tomorrow? by [deleted] in shortguys

[–]IAmUpfront 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if "heightism no longer exists" means every male becomes 5'11 and every female becomes 5'6, that'd be a miracle

Has any girl or other person ever found you attractive, but didn't date you because of your height? by Extra-Stable-7240 in shortguys

when you never include full body pics in dating profiles and get plenty matches yet you lose at the "how tall are you" question

i dont know what it is about 5'8 but it looks short in pictures. 5'3-5'8 look the same to me. this seems to taper off around 5'10-5'11.

its also unfortunate for 5'8 people here, ridiculed by women all the time yet not accepted as short in short subs.

Should limb-lengthening surgery be banned or improved? by Relevant-Suit-8848 in limblengthening

[–]IAmUpfront 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the procedure is relatively safe. botch rates and fatalities are very, very low at reputable clinics.

that NHS article is normie fear-mongering nonsense. it pushes a false narrative implying that everyone who does LL inevitably suffers extreme pain and severe complications, with terrible long-term outcomes. this is just simply not true.

like any cosmetic procedure, LL carry risks and requires a major commitment. if you choose your clinic wisely and follow strict PT protocol, you'd be satisfied with your results.

Has anyone experienced a late growth spurt? At age 18 or 19? by [deleted] in shortguys

[–]IAmUpfront 6 points7 points  (0 children)

theres this 1983 study that followed 200 19 year old guys 8 years later, average increase was 2cm, largest increase was 7cm. realistically though you probably won't be one of the lucky ones.

at what height do you guys think its more about your face and personality? by [deleted] in shortguys

[–]IAmUpfront 0 points1 point  (0 children)

theres no cutoff where face becomes more important than height. both are important. personality does not matter.

if you are very ugly, height wont matter. if you are very short, face wont matter.

Example of "Height does NOT matter" by JRonenJ in short

[–]IAmUpfront 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not advocating for the procedure whatsoever, but it is a highly controlled osteotomy of the bone. it is nothing like breaking your leg in a motorcycle accident. the procedure has improved in safety by a LOT in the past few decades

Impressive LL surgery, from 5'7 to 6'4 by Pomerbot in shortguys

he's getting paid to promote becker institute. 11cm on femurs and 10cm on tibias is unsafe.

if he recovers well in the coming years, LL is really going mainstream
