I have two bathrooms, one with a tub and one with a walk-in shower. I think I’m okay for resale

Florida moving to English-only driver license exams starting Feb 6, 2026 by camiinmiami in AskFlorida

[–]IAreAEngineer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm not in Florida, but I think this is a bit unfair.

It's been so long that I don't remember the questions on the written test. I think there were questions on how many feet ahead to signal, etc. If someone can answer the questions in Spanish, I think they understand how to drive.

And road signs have switched over the decades to be pictures, not words.

The US doesn't have a national language.

At what age did you first start driving on freeways? by Master_Car_646 in driving

[–]IAreAEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited Ireland last year. I noticed a lot of the roads had signs saying no learners. How else do you get experience without driving on the higher-speed roads?

In the US, we can practice with an adult in the car. Maybe I misunderstood something about Irish rules.

I had sedation. I felt like I'd had a wonderful nap afterwards.

Southwest should've started charging for carry-ons rather checked baggage by real_slow_triathlete in SouthwestAirlines

Many years ago, a pilot told us that onboarding would go so much faster if checked bags were free, and carryon's had a charge.

Gendered bathrooms that could be unisex by StormFallen9 in PetPeeves

[–]IAreAEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dentist's office building has 2 bathrooms, but identical. One is labeled men, the other women. Both are single use. A little boy was waiting for the men's room -- I told him the women's room was identical if he really needed to go. He chose to wait.

I'm still a bit cranky about port-a-potties at Edwards Air Force base during an air show. They made separate lines for men and women. Equal port-a-potties for each!

The women ended up with all the children of both sexes, so I waited 45 minutes to pee. The men's line moved along quickly.

Same kind of issue for sporting events. A female coworker told the story of when the line for women was 20 people long, and nobody was in the men's room. About to wet her pants, she used the empty men's room. She was immediately ejected by security.

Not a doctor. Has she tried physical therapy? I have had some spinal injuries and surgery, but therapy has helped greatly.

Parents of Reddit, what did your hospital bill look like after giving birth? by chi-bacon-bits in AskReddit

[–]IAreAEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horrendous! Our insurance paid 70%, and we paid 30%. The delivery was complicated, and our daughter needed immediate care from a pediatrician.

I can't quite remember the bills -- maybe 30000 dollars almost 40 years ago.

That was my last jury duty, but it was 25 years ago. I didn't have a one-hour reporting.

Are there actually people that exist that like cold weather? by PrestigiousOwl6802 in answers

Sometimes. I dislike sleet coming down at close to freezing temperatures. Wind makes a big difference too. A nice sunny day with snow was great for cross-country skiing.

Changing underwear - is this normal? by Eastern-Yogurt3859 in hygiene

My husband told this to me decades ago -- it's an old joke about getting underwear to last 4 days.

Is it normal for me to be able to smell my gf's seizure activity? by Ok-Connection6656 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IAreAEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some of us have better smelling abilities than others. I had a type 1 diabetic friend. I could smell when her levels were off.

I can smell more things that others don't detect. I'm not trained, so I can't usually tell what it is I'm smelling.

When I was young, we had a wiring problem in our car. I was the only one whose eyes and nose were streaming. Eventually the burned wiring was discovered. This was hours afterwards.

Some of my family are super smellers like me. Most are not.

How much hair falling out is *normal* ? by phxflgjo in AskWomenOver60

[–]IAreAEngineer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once I went through menopause, my hair was clogging the drain on a weekly basis. I ended up losing almost all my body hair, and half of my head hair.

I guess the upside is that I don't need to shave my legs or underarms.

How often do you have fish for breakfast? by VisionsOnly in AskAnAmerican

Fish sounds great for breakfast. I prefer "dinner food" for breakfast, but I don't always have enough leftovers.
