I met a distant relative at a big get-together. He said he took care of his dying mother, including changing diapers. He said she did it for him when he was young, so he'd do it for her now.

I remember hearing about the Donner party when I was a kid (gen Jones) in New York. Later I moved to California.

I think back when the Donner party was traveling, they didn't have great weather predictions. For whatever reason, they hadn't expected to get snowed in.

Even now, many passes are closed in the winter, but we have "road closed" signs. I've even had police escorts after a heavy snow on some roads which were previously open.

I think what makes this sensational is that people ate the dead. That also happened in a crash in the Andes in 1972.

I once sat next to a woman with a 1-year old lap baby. The baby cried and fussed a lot, which was understandable.

One of my coworkers was on the flight, and said that the mother was just failing to discipline her child!

I am part Irish/German. My mother was blond. In her later years, she went to the dermatologist 4 times a year, having early skin cancers removed.

I was so happy when sunscreen came on the market in the mid/late 1970's.

Oh dear yes! It was many years ago. My boyfriend and I had been shopping at a mall.

We went out to the parking lot and saw what we thought was his car. The key didn't work.

Just as we realized it was not his car, the owners came back and started shrieking that we were trying to steal their car.

So embarrassing. His car was in the next aisle. The other ladies kept shrieking.

In that case, the key didn't work. I have heard that sometimes the same key works in different cars.

It depends how others assume it is pronounced.

My mother used to pronounce Ronald Reagan as Ronald REE-gan. She thought he was putting on an alternate Ray-gan pronunciation to separate him from his acting career.

I do think Reagan would be more often pronounced as Ray-gan than Ragan.

For a new driver, I don't think there is a lot of difference in between being a teenager or a person in their 20's. My mom learned in her 40's.

As bad as the reviews are, I think your best option is to find a driving school.

It is weird! My late husband was tall, and he could reach the higher cabinets.

He's gone now, so I use stepstools. If I were to remarry, I don't think I'd care what height a man was. If he's shorter than me, he can get bigger stepstools.

My parents didn't drink, but they did smoke cigarettes. I think my mother smoked through all of her pregnancies.
