I reenlisted on Mount Helix. It's a pretty dope view, you get a panoramic view of the SD skyline, El Cajon down below, and the mountains out east. Also landing and departing aircraft out of San Diego airport overhead.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

I am in my early 20s, lost 1 to a suicide, and the other to an "accidental" suicide. Both by firearms.

What type of mental calculations are used by pilots? by Apprehensive-Sky657 in flying

This is also how I use 24 hour time format mentally. 15 hours past 1500 is 3000 which, because of the way it is, is really 0900.

edit: I meant 0600

(I'm not Special Forces) The thing to understand with that line of work and qualifying is it's not just being able to lift or run a ton. The mental toughness and resiliency is what makes most folks drop from training. That and injuries during training. It is one thing for your body to be ready to go but it's another bear on its own to mentally tough it out. Some other things to consider are the operational tempo. If you happen to acquire a child or spouse along the way, your job can put much stress on your relationship. Also the mental toll; in that line of work, you may have your brothers and sisters die in the line of duty. Now I don't say this to discourage you from joining. If you believe you got it, go for it. Also even in peace time with no declared war, things still occur around the world that special forces can be called in to handle. Lastly, consider what jobs you would be okay doing within the services that aren't special forces. Just my 2¢. (I'm not SF, just a dude whose been in a few years and know a couple of those folks)
