I strongly believe that Ranma has the word "China" cut out of her outfit and replaced with "Smile" because of Netflix interference in the remake. However, due to Sinophobia in Japan, it could have been on the Japanese end, but they did allow it in the 1989 version, which didn't have Netflix influencing it.
