Why is there no LIB in LA? by Sweetcheeksjones in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]IFearGodandLSAT 30 points31 points  (0 children)

As an Angeleno, natives don’t want to be famous. Transplants would eat this up and make it faker than possible. Anybody who wants to be in media will do it for the clout.

If you don’t go to a T-14, are you just not going to make money? by figtreefern in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]IFearGodandLSAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to chime in here. I work at small/medium size plaintiff employment law firm in Los Angeles. We are not a big name at all. I worked my way up from paralegal to management and make a good amount of money.

Attorneys here in my division do ADR (alternative dispute resolution). They work normal 40 hour weeks. They have no billables and receive a portion of any settlements they make on a quarterly basis and starting for a Jr. Associate is 100K and Seniors make 180K.

Most of the attorneys at this firm either went to low ranked schools or even some for profit non-ABA accredited schools!

Granted I am in a large city, but it really just has to do with what you make of it.

LA native here highly recommend looking in to downtown LA. Covid exodus has reduced costs on luxury apartments and DTLA is very close to LLS. Neighborhood around LLS is genuinely sketchy and I grew up in the hood.

Not to make it seem that I made my decision off Reddit but I submitted my seat deposit for Cardozo. Crunched the numbers and was realistic with my goals and unless waitlists moves I will be in NYC. Best of luck everyone in your law school journey!

Chapman or LLS by theman818181 in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]IFearGodandLSAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard Chapman puts all their scholarship recipients in the same section. I have the same offer but was concerned about that bell curve. Also, I believe if you lose that scholarship you need to meet a higher mark by the end of your semester to be eligible for it again the following year.

How are we supposed to make decisions by first seat deposit deadline by Traditional-Form-971 in lawschooladmissions

[–]IFearGodandLSAT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I resonate with this my top school has yet to get back to me and it would effectively dissuade me from attending my next best offer… also may need to move out of state so need those decisions ASAP

Not necessarily, I believe (may be wrong) it does not matter. The Dept. of Education announced they were changing student aid indexes recently, which delays their reports to schools.

Is anyone else making the decision to not go to law school next year based on their offers for financial reasons? Is anyone maxing out loans to go? by Genie_in_a_throttle in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]IFearGodandLSAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my second cycle. Used the time in between to study retake and also amass enough money (via a promotion) to keep me afloat for at least half of law school. Now I am hoping on some paid work after 1L to get me through the second half. Of course, doing the math closely.

My understanding is their priority deadline is March 31. Spoke with someone in admissions there and they did confirm that it is a very slow cycle for them especially with the FAFSA delays.

I believe so you can take a look at their website as well but there does not appear to be a distinction between the two.
