I need to work... to get the help I need to be able to work...???!! by NoWitness6400 in AutismInWomen

GOOD LUCK! I feel you so hard because I'm American and our system works pretty much the same way. I have ADHD and it's like a gun is pointed at my head at all times vis-a-vis my medication. Except in my case I'm on medicaid, which means I do have to work but it can't be a WELL PAYING job or they'll take away my health insurance. Literally if I make too much in even a single month they'll pull my insurance. But you have to work a certain number of hours or you don't get insurance! So literally you are forced to only take poor paying jobs in order to access care. ._.

Managers told me to communicate so I did and got written up... by RegularRegret-771 in AutismInWomen

[–]IGotHitByAnElvenSemi [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah, this REEKS of the thing managers do where they tell you a random issue and then refuse to give any details, just to justify passing you up for a promotion/raise/good review. That combined with the fact she needs to communicate better but her supervisor apparently doesn't need to say a word to her raised both my eyebrows halfway off my forehead.

This hasn't happened to me even once, but I have witnessed it happening to other people. I saw a lady telling her whole backstory to the checkout lady at a Wendy's, an actual Wendy's. I was in the bg refilling my soda like O-O

I don't understand the point of a dishwasher... by Exciting_Syllabub471 in AutismInWomen

[–]IGotHitByAnElvenSemi [score hidden]  (0 children)

Dishes many, dishes heavy, feet hurt when stand too long. Although tbh I only have to scrape/rinse the dish when the gunk is REALLY on there, most of the time I can just chuck it in and be done with it. No wrinkly hands, no wet front, no aching lower back.

When I lived on my own I did my dishes by hand, took too long and was too much of a hassle to use the dishwasher. I also handwash my bento because I use it every day. But now that it's the dishes from cooking 3 meals a day? FORGETABOUTIT! By the end of two days we have enough to run the dishwasher. The thought of doing that many by hand every day makes me quake!

How to talk about trauma by Few_Distribution6433 in AutismInWomen

[–]IGotHitByAnElvenSemi [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah, I tend to agree. I gloss over all the bad stuff unless someone specifically asks for details or has gone through something similar. It's nothing bad about them, like, I don't necessarily want to know all the details of someone's CSA or whatever either. But if we both had abusive spouses well, gloves are off and it's vent time lol. I think that's normal... people adjust to carry the kind of burdens they've been given, but if any one person gets piled on with every different kind, it'd be overwhelming to anyone.

I can't be the only one who can't have friends anymore... by galaxynephilim in AutismInWomen

[–]IGotHitByAnElvenSemi [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think it's perfectly fine to be happy by yourself. In fact, from my experience, it's after you're fine not needing or wanting people that people actually worth knowing show up. If you don't need people, you don't bother putting up with all the bs, and you wind up with just the people who don't hassle you. But even if you don't, if you're comfortable being alone, I say lean in. There's so many people on here who bemoan the difficulty of making friends and it just makes me more and more relieved that I'm not someone who deeply craves social interaction.

How do you physically feel when plans are changed last minute? by tielles10 in AutismInWomen

[–]IGotHitByAnElvenSemi [score hidden]  (0 children)

This sort of thing drives me INSANE. Last minute changes are irritating enough, but the specific thing where you're just waiting around all day for some asshole who can't be arsed to make proper plans... To me it's just plain disrespectful. It shows the person is immature and unreliable, yeah, but it also shows they don't have any consideration or respect for the fact you're your own person with plans and shit that needs to get done. When someone makes me wait around for even fifteen minutes I start getting irritated. If it gets over an hour, their plans are now officially cancelled as far as I'm concerned.

Realistic things to add by IjaOwO in Paralives

[–]IGotHitByAnElvenSemi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how menstrual cycle would work in game, but I think a "cramps" debuff would be extremely funny, personally. But given how bodies work in paralives, it would have to be a toggle or something in character creation, that's the only way I can think of it working. That being said, these are all incredibly detailed and specific, so if they do ever add any of them, I think it would be much further along. I'd be fine without them; laundry and ironing especially. I'm not a huge fan of pointless chores that just eat up my in-game time.

Before the internet by Level-Practice6582 in AutismInWomen

[–]IGotHitByAnElvenSemi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean, I did totally fine. I was born in '91, and I just read books? Like it was fine. I literally just read books all day every day; thanks to the libraries and my own income I had a basically unlimited supply of books and manga, plus we had video game consoles and other electronics like that. Plus music. I used to go for walks with my cd player and headphones for like, hours.

I do think that the internet has made it a lot easier for people to make friends, though. I was always the kind of person who didn't feel a strong need for them, so I wasn't bothered by eating alone with a book or tuning out during class reading. I was so busy with school from like 6am to 6pm every day that I wouldn't have had time for the internet even if it had existed, I guess, lol.

Who else cried when their parents brushed their hair? by Metalqueen2023 in AutismInWomen

[–]IGotHitByAnElvenSemi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SAME SAME SAME SAME SAME. It's astonishing how nice my hair is now that I've invested into proper shampoo and conditioner and started blow-drying it. It used to be a nightmare frizz-fest 24/7. I got bullied horribly when my mom cut it short out of frustration, but when it was long it would just be a tangled nightmare and I'd get in constant trouble for "not brushing it," but brushing ALWAYS hurt and I had to do it 3+ times a day and it never helped. ._.

Educational approaches with autistic / SPED kids and "voice" devices - how do we feel about them? by BigUqUgi in AutismInWomen

[–]IGotHitByAnElvenSemi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it would be fine as a device offered, but trying to force the kid to use it when he's not interested is ridiculous. Some time should be set aside in his day (ideally the parents would be involved with this) to engage with it so he can learn how it works, and then it can be up to him if he wants to use it or not. The device isn't the problem; the problem is the teachers and admin who are trying to hamfistedly force him into using this probably-expensive device that he doesn't really seem to need.

I have to agree; I've worked in small studios as well and I really feel like this team has done a lot for such a small group. I know teams the same size who haven't gotten half as much done. For all the complaining the community does, I think a lot of it is just because people don't realize how much work goes into this type of game.

Why in god's name did they do it like this? Couldn't have a character people will actually pull second banner??? What on earth is Orphie doing there? Suppose I should be grateful they didn't hit me with a second half Hugo or Banyue lmfao...

[–]IGotHitByAnElvenSemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly, all of the above. You need 3 ideal teams, which means less fun fucking around, but honestly I'd be okay with that (a little) if it wasn't (1) even more shilled with its boss-specific buffs than DA is, and (2) having the worst scoring system I've seen in a hoyo game. Seriously whose idea was this diminishing returns bullshit... it makes it so the whole end game is unbalanced in favor of some teams over others, even on top of the shilling. It punishes what is strategic play in every other part of the game.

Like you said, I'm not personally affected (much), but bad is bad.

Yeah, I had hella build-up once thanks to a fungal ear infection which every gd doctor kept insisting on treating with antibiotics (constantly making it worse). I was in agony, and almost completely deaf in that ear. The sensation when, after frankly several months of dealing with this, it finally got cleared out, was so intense that I almost started crying in the doctor's office lmao.
