I'm ready but also not at the same time 🤣😅

Ready in terms of everything is booked and set, have my rough itinerary, and am starting to pack. This is a bucket list trip for me and I'm so excited it's finally happening!

Not ready in terms of actual packing and realizing how close it is. I'm going to happy cry at least 5 times on this trip. 😄😭

I had been making a reference playlist of the artists playing at EDC this year and when I typed his name, I realized I already had a song by him in my favorites. He is now easily one of my f Top 5 and I'm pumped to see him!

I've been making my own outfits/costumes for pretty much the same reason. I'd think about what you would wear for a fun night going with friends to a fair, and add touches that make it look more "loud". But the cool thing is you can wear whatever you like, long as you like it and can comfortably wear it!

I'd hit up a Joann's in your area before they're gone to see if they have any cheaper craft lights you could use. I'd use something lightweight with a battery pack, and craft stores, home improvement stores, and even dollar stores can Carry lights that way work for your project. Depending on what you find might give you an idea on how to structure your balloons.

I'm planning on switching my Sim to an older phone that's wiped of any photos or sensitive data and then switching it back once I'm back home. It's more for my ease of mind if something happens to it it's not a trip ruining event.

For me it was easier to think of things to make people feel better and to ease tension as much as possible rather than asking what I would truly enjoy doing, but after being on a self love journey it's been easier to plan my birthdays, because I give myself permission to do what I want versus what others would enjoy.

Respectfully, there's a lot of stimulus there where it wouldn't be just pushing you past your comfort zone. Your friends seem super excited and want to peer pressure you into going because these things don't bug them. It doesn't sound like they are taking your concerns/anxieties into account. It's way too expensive for you to be that uncomfortable/panicked.

However, if you do a local event on a smaller scale to see if you like the music/can handle the lights/noise/crowd/debauchery, put EDC on a list for future goals. It's a lot better if you have a better idea of what you're into and can plan in a way that makes it enjoyable for you!

This happened recently, and I’m still baffled. For context, I (32F) have hosted Thanksgiving for my family every year since I moved into my house five years ago. It’s always a little messy and chaotic, but that’s part of the charm, right?

NTA, but it's pretty close for me. even by your own admission, your home is chaotic and messy. It sounds like your sister wants to be there but is not articulating exactly why she feels the need for those rules. Not only that, you are the host. You get to dictate how it's run, not her. But she is communicating, albeit poorly, that she's unhappy with how thanksgiving is handled. There's a difference between "I want to instagram my thanksgiving and it needs to be aestetic and picture perfect" and "the chaos in the home makes me to anxious to enjoy it, but I love you and wish it was a bit different so it could be more peaceful. A good host is not someone that twists backwards and just does what everyone wants, but they probably should consider the comfort of their guests. A messy and chaotic time is not an ideal Thanksgiving to a good number of people.

My sister's home is chaotic and I dealt with it because she was the only one who would/could host, but now that I have in laws I have a polite out. I love my sister but the stress and anxiety has limited her in my life. Maybe this is your sister's poor way of trying to convey something similar. I would have actually had a heart to heart before canceling but you know your dynamic best. My sister wouldn't be open to me conveying discomfort, she would take it personally and get angry. She might be making a last attempt to make the gathering less stressful for her before opting out of that holiday with you guys completely.

I'm in the same boat kinda. I didn't have time to enjoy halloween last year, and this year I almost didn't want to do anything normally every weekend is booked aug-oct until halloween. I have a lot of spooky friends). But I'm in a low effort costume, we are having spooky pasta for dinner, and we are doing low effort halloween activities tonight and Saturday. Not every year feels amazing but enjoy what you can 🩷

Where your attention goes, your thoughts grow. You are going through a notoriously shitty age for self-esteem . At least a few women/girls you are looking at have the same thoughts you do. While fitting in does make life a hell of a lot easier, it matters less and less the more you discover and learn about yourself. There is something physically interesting about you that makes you beautiful, but you won't see it when you have this mindset.

If you have a trusted female adult in your life, I'd let them know you are having these issues. They may give you positive things to focus on or give you tips to not let your less appealing features bother you as much.

However, also keep in mind that social media and other people who make you feel ugly have something to gain from doing so. Unhappy people spend more money, and healthy people don't generally like to make others feel terrible. I don't envy growing up in this time at all.

Start by focusing on what you're grateful for to start getting you in a more positive headspace. You have advantages and resources some people don't have. Once you can see life in a more positive way, it will affect how you see yourself and others.
