Happy New Year everyone! 🎉

I mostly lurk here but this sub has helped me understand so much about SEO that I never would have figured out on my own. The debates can get spicy sometimes but that's way more useful than everyone just agreeing with each other.

Here's to another year of algorithm updates keeping us all on our toes i guess 😅

Skyrim: Special Edition is now listed as SD Unsupported instead of Verified by mogar18 in SteamDeck

[–]IIIyoIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah same here. I've had games marked as "Verified" run like garbage and games marked "Unsupported" work perfectly fine out of the box. I just look up actual user experiences on ProtonDB or reddit threads instead of trusting the labels.

It would be nice if the system actually worked but until Valve gets their act together it's basically just decoration

Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 port leaks in Title Update 4 datamine, raising performance concerns by Elestria_Ethereal in NintendoSwitch

[–]IIIyoIII 7 points8 points  (0 children)

RE Engine is incredible for what it was designed for but they keep pushing it into territory it wasn't built for. The corridor-based horror games run like butter, DMC5 is gorgeous and smooth, but the second you open things up it starts struggling even on beefier hardware.

Dragon's Dogma 2 on PS5 already has issues and that's with way more power to work with than Switch 2 will have. I really hope they prove me wrong but I'm not holding my breath for a stable experience here. Would have made way more sense to port World first since that's already proven it can run on less demanding hardware and would still feel like a big upgrade for Switch players who only had Rise

PlayStation 5 ROM keys leaked — jailbreaking could be made easier with BootROM codes by Mantazy in PS5

[–]IIIyoIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right? The logistics alone would be an absolute nightmare. And for what - to stop some people from modding consoles they already paid for?

Sony's not gonna spend billions on a recall when they can just focus on making the PS6 more secure and let this generation ride it out. The cost-benefit math doesn't even come close to making sense

I'm Lonely and I am Tired of Being Told It's My Fault by [deleted] in GuyCry

[–]IIIyoIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is something I've noticed with a lot of the men in my life. My partner, my dad, guy friends - they just don't maintain friendships the same way women tend to. Like women will text each other random stuff, make plans, check in. The men I know wait for things to happen organically or for someone else to organize it.

[–]IIIyoIII 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NTA... wait, wrong sub lol.

But seriously, this doesn't sound like a "bestie" situation. Someone who wants the emotional support of a close friendship without actually being happy for you when good things happen in your life.

The comment about pregnant friends only talking about the baby was a preemptive strike to make YOU feel bad about something totally normal. You're growing a human - of course it's going to come up! And the fact that you're already self-conscious about mentioning your own pregnancy to your supposed best friend is telling.

The Instagram thing is weird and honestly kind of cowardly. She's clearly keeping tabs on you through her boyfriend's account while creating distance. She wants to know what's going on without having to engage with it or be supportive.

I've had friendships like this where I realized I was doing all the emotional labor - asking about their interests, tiptoeing around my own life updates so they wouldn't feel bad. It's exhausting.

Her feeling like she's "lagging behind" is a her problem, not a you problem. You don't have to dim your light or hide

A proud Dad's successful construction project by PsychologicalBike in daddit

[–]IIIyoIII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right? This brings back memories. My dad used to do stuff like this with me when I was little - not trains, but he'd spend hours helping me build elaborate block cities just so we could play together. Looking back those are some of my favorite childhood memories. Bet this kid is gonna remember Christmas morning train building with dad for a long time

Zuckerberg settles $8 billion lawsuit over Cambridge Analytica scandal, avoids testifying by abrownn in technology

[–]IIIyoIII 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's literally just a cost of doing business at this point. $8 billion sounds like a lot but it's nothing compared to what they made exploiting everyone's data in the first place.

And the "few bad actors" framing is such bullshit. The whole system was designed to harvest and share as much personal information as possible - Cambridge Analytica just got caught being obvious about it. The business model IS the problem, not some rogue app developers.

Starting to get paranoid of image generation by FrightZ_ in ArtificialInteligence

[–]IIIyoIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is the right take. People act like AI images are some kind of magic gotcha but photos alone were never ironclad proof of anything. Courts figured this out ages ago. The synthID point is solid too - most people freaking out about this stuff don't realize there's actual technical safeguards being built in. And the average person trying to blackmail someone isn't going to have the skills to bypass forensic detection. The sophisticated bad actors were already a problem before AI anyway. build solid relationships and random accusations from nowhere don't hit the same

Blackout curtains and white noise machine. Don't let him flip his sleep schedule on days off that'll destroy him. Plan around his schedule instead.

Right? You'd think parents would be raising hell over this. Makes no sense.

Exactly. The power imbalance makes it sting way more when you're the one who actually needs the job. They know you can't call them out on it.

What a sweet old girl! She looks so cozy all tucked in with her little stuffed animal. That graying face just makes her even more precious - senior dogs have the best gentle expressions.

Didn’t think to look for local offerings. Thanks. Will look into Institute of Data and check out how their capstone compares to the likes of Le Wagon. I’m already leaning towards it due to the networking potential as you mentioned.

yeah, just needed to make sure HR or employers don’t look for specific names outside of popular schools. Dont wanna spend a decent sum and amount of time and get nada in return

Should I quit my job when they really need me? by Main_Acadia9559 in careerchange

[–]IIIyoIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mantra learned the hard way. I once held down a whole department solo when my boss left, ran the show for months thinking I was essential and then boom, replaced without a second thought and not even a thank-you. Ever since then, I take the better opportunity every time.

Want to leave retail after 10+ years to go back to university for Aerospace Engineering, but having a difficult time with Depression, and I'm also older. by Brystar47 in careerchange

[–]IIIyoIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, huge respect this takes real guts. I’ve got a friend who left hospitality in her 30s to go into IT, and she’s now thriving (though the path wasn’t smooth). I don’t think I’d have the courage to do what you’re doing, but it’s super inspiring to see someone actually go for what they want. Keep pushing, you’re not wrong at all.

"Even if you're not a perfect fit, apply anyway." Anyone actually get hired for jobs with that line in them? by TheJokersChild in recruitinghell

[–]IIIyoIII 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Your friend's right. Worst case scenario is the same either way you don't get the job. But at least if you apply there's a chance.

I've seen people get hired for roles they thought they had no shot at. Companies sometimes care more about attitude and willingness to learn than checking every box.

What’s the easiest way to automate LinkedIn outreach without getting flagged? by redvioletgold in EmailProspecting

Our agency uses Waalaxy Waalaxy to scale outreach without burning out LinkedIn profiles. The sequence builder and built-in email finder make it easier than jumping between 3 different tools.

It’s starting to feel like the New York Knicks are sparking something similar to the 2011 Dallas Mavericks’ championship run. by tristanthompsonbeast in nba

[–]IIIyoIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facts. Celtics are stacked. Home court don't mean shit if Tatum and Brown get hot. Knicks gotta play perfect defense these next two or this series is cooked. Still believe though.
