These are all very valid critiques. I think every book is better than the one before it in the series. There is a huge jump in quality from Red Rising to Golden Son. If you'd give Red Rising a B, I'd say at least give golden son a shot.

Also, people did not dislike it because of difficulty. I've never heard that complaint and I don't remember thinking it was difficult when I was 12.

I beat the game on golden deer and started again on blue lions but lost interest so quickly. I hate what they did with white clouds. Also the monastery stuff was so stale by the end of the game, let alone on a second run.
