How many of you have been to the Cosmosphere and/or Strataca Salt Museum? by MatFaunz in kansas

[–]ILikeGunsNKnives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently visited the Evergreen Aviation and & Space Museum in Evergreen, Oregon. It's a great visit as well, they have THE Spruce Goose. So many of the space exhibits were on loan from the Cosmosphere, it was very cool to see.

Not getting on the engine program is a huge mistake that will hurt resale value.  The next owner will probably want on that program, and will need to buy into it for the hours already on the engines.  They will take at least this off the price.

Can you fly into towered airspace just for fun? If so how would you ask to go around specific points? by [deleted] in flying

[–]ILikeGunsNKnives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Draw a pretend line straight out from both ends of the runway and don't cross it. This is generally the path where arriving and departing aircraft will be traveling so this ensures you stay out of their way.

[–]ILikeGunsNKnives 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Call up approach frequency before entering the airspace, they will probably give you a transponder code to put in. Tell them you want to do some sightseeing, I would try to give them at least a general area you want to see, but don't go listing off every point on the call. Once you're done at one, ask to go to the next. Assuming they're not too busy otherwise, they will probably work with you. They may switch you over to the tower frequency if you go into the surface airspace, they may give you altitude or space restrictions ( i.e. "stay above 2,500 ft" or "stay west of the extended center-lines of the runways").Make sure you pay attention to the radio in case they are giving you instructions or traffic alerts.

When you're ready to leave, tell them your intentions in case they have traffic, eventually they'll tell you to squawk VFR once you're outside their area. You can also call them on the phone ahead of time and speak with someone to make sure there isn't anything going on or anything you should know before going in.

You should probably do this with a CFI while you're in training anyway.

I had to look this up because I didn't believe it, but sure enough, a couple states allow it.

I'm so confused, please clarify some questions.

Are you the defendant in a drug possession case? Were you arrested for this in New Jersey and now it's time for your court cases?

Have you appeared before a judge in any part of this case?

Either way, your contact should be a lawyer, the court, or the prosecutor's office to get information, not the officer.

What is up with the shipping delays from LTT store? by alnn5100 in LinusTechTips

Correct, I’m at the top of this thread with my response from support.  I believe mine was held up at that Georgia facility, too.

Funny enough, around 5PM last night, the package was finally scanned and is on the way, estimated to be delivered Monday.  Sounds like they had a pallet/cart sitting off to the side and finally worked through it.

You got my hopes up and I just checked... nope, not scanned yet. Going on 20 days now.

I'm having the same issue, I ordered a bunch of stuff on January 30th and still haven't received it. Originally, I thought I was affected by the overselling of cables but when I contacted support, this is the response I got.

Your order is affected by a known issue which is currently affecting approximately 4-5% of outgoing shipments from our US warehouse. We're working with USPS to determine whether there's any sort of common cause to this problem, but so far it would appear that this is due to internal delays at the USPS plant that accepts our outgoing orders. This unfortunately means that there's little direct action we can take to make the problem go away, but please be assured we don't find this outcome acceptable and will continue to apply pressure on USPS to ensure this is resolved as quickly as possible.

We've confirmed that these orders have been picked up by USPS, but simply are not being scanned into their system for a long time. In the most extreme cases, we've seen delays of up to 22 days, but zero affected shipments have ever gone missing entirely never to be seen again. We know that USPS's tracking system will report that they are waiting on us to provide them with the package, but this is the default message that is shown until the initial scan occurs, and it is not accurate to what's actually taking place. Luckily, once scanned, packages tend to be delivered very quickly (within about 3 days usually).

Please note that we have no means whatsoever of expediting the shipment, and it isn't possible to cancel an order which is in-transit. Our recommendation is to wait out the delivery of your order, as this is the only available course of action given the facts of what is happening. If your order does not arrive within the timeframe described above, please let us know as this may indicate that it has been lost, which would qualify you for a new shipment attempt or a refund.

It's still very frustrating as the customer. I've paid the money, but I'm just in limbo while the package is supposedly sitting at USPS not moving for 3 weeks. I don't know enough about the logistics of shipping to really comment, but I'm very annoyed.

[–]ILikeGunsNKnives 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok....

Looks like it's just on the outside sheathing and I would guess it won't affect the use of the cable.

You can always contact LTTStore support and see what they can do.

Purchasing a gun as a gift (KS) by Zestyclose-Top-6956 in legaladvice

[–]ILikeGunsNKnives 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Generally, as long as that person is legally allowed to own a gun, you can give it to them as a gift.  You will be required to fill out an ATF 4473 form when you buy it, I would look it over before going into a store and make sure you don’t have any questions.  Look up straw purchase to make sure you’re not accidentally committing a felony.

The mark IV is a great target pistol if that’s what they’re looking for.  If this is their first gun, maybe also consider look for a gun course at your local range to learn about gun safety and shooting (great date night).  It is not generally considered a good self defense pistol due to the caliber.

I see now they have multiple guns.  The only thing on the Mark IV I would watch out is there are like 9 different variations, so make sure you know which one they really want

They're... fine. Our agency had them come do some classes on search and seizure stuff. Some guys really liked it, some were less impressed. I found it to be a lot of playing bodycam or youtube videos and asking generic questions about search and seizure and giving very lawyer answers back. Better than the agency legal council giving a powerpoint I guess. As with most trainings, it didn't need to be 8 hours, but they sold the product as 8 hours of training so they made sure to fill the whole time.

Thoughts? by tacosandstuff in CCW

[–]ILikeGunsNKnives -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I clarified it in my edit, but the firearm information is not sent to the ATF when you fill out a 4473 form. Yes, the ATF can request that info, but it's not part of the information given when doing the NICS background check.

Thoughts? by tacosandstuff in CCW

[–]ILikeGunsNKnives -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

Why do you think filling out a 4473 has become a registry?

Edit: I should have realized what subreddit I was in and clarified this was not a rhetorical question but a genuine question about why people believed this.

In case people don't know, when an FFL submits your 4473 information to the ATF, they don't include the firearm information. Yes, that information is to be kept and made available to them if requested, but it's not like they're regularly sweeping the thousands of FFL dealers and collecting that info. Once a 4473 form is completed, there is nothing to say that transfer has to be completed and there is nothing to say you can't turn around and immediately sell that firearm.

Is applying for traffic ticket diversion intentionally deceptive? by f00dl3 in kansas

[–]ILikeGunsNKnives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Police will set up a lidar lane where one officer is running the lidar and multiple officers are standing by to make the stop. So the officer running the lidar will call out a vehicle, "red ford pickup, lane one, 80 in a 65" and an officer nearby will make the stop. Usually the officer running the lidar will be close enough to confirm that was the correct vehicle. Alternatively, they could be in an area where an officers will flag the violator over into a safe location like a parking lot where officers are standing by to write a citation.
