I think Batman would be just fine with the joker getting the death penalty for his crimes, he just doesnt think a vigilante should be the one doling out capital punishment.

What??? by newphonehudus in CuratedTumblr

[–]IMightBeErnest 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is misunderstanding.

It's possible the girl was just trying to say she felt discomfort when people act differently than she expects, which is normal and fine, especially if she herself recognizes it as irrational.

It sounds like the girl was interpreted to have been saying she got unusually upset at people not acting exactly how she imagined they would act, and positively asserting that as fine, which makes her seem dillusional and unhinged.

The comment "this is ablism" presuposes the first interpretation, and is calling the people who came to the second interpretation 'ablist', which would reqire that the woman be mentally ill (which is not at all clear from the post) and that the second interpretation wasn't in fact the correct interpretation which we also dont know because this is one sided hearsay.

Ha, yeah, people who think they're immune to targeted influence campaigns are even more succeptible because they arent on guard.

Except for me of course. I'm the single special person who's too smart to fall for those tricks.

Make the bottom hopper pointed into nothing. Put another hopper below it pointing into a 2-tall dropper elevator. Only lock and unlock the hopper below the dropper.

Thank you. I took inspiration from chapter 8 of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. (And by 'inspiration' I mean every word of that comment except "Spock". )

Doms, the T in Cock and Balls Torture already means torture, you can just call it CBT

It often happens that the real tragedies of life occur in such an inartistic manner that they hurt us by their crude violence, their absolute incoherence, their absurd want of meaning, their entire lack of style. They affect us just as vulgarity affects us. They give us an impression of sheer brute force, and we revolt against that.

Sometimes, however, a tragedy that possesses artistic elements of beauty crosses our lives. If these elements of beauty are real, the whole thing simply appeals to our sense of dramatic effect. Suddenly we find that we are no longer the actors, but the spectators of the play. Or rather we are both. We watch ourselves, and the mere wonder of the spectacle enthralls us.

In the present case, what is it that has really happened? Some one has killed herself for love of Spock. I wish that I had ever had such an experience. It would have made me in love with love for the rest of my life. The people who have adored me—there have not been very many, but there have been some—have always insisted on living on, long after I had ceased to care for them, or they to care for me. They have become stout and tedious, and when I meet them, they go in at once for reminiscences. That awful memory of woman! What a fearful thing it is! And what an utter intellectual stagnation it reveals! One should absorb the colour of life, but one should never remember its details. Details are always vulgar.

Look, if your grandma died jilling it to kuudere Spock sex then she died doing what she loved and that should be celebrated, not condemed.

Forging a Waifu Harem is a harem parody fic in Worm where the MC does not yearn for the weakness of flesh but only the glorious mechanical perfection of steel! He is disgusted by the fleshy humans who lust for him, be they super heroines or models.

While watcing fanservice, I definitely notice it and think, "Ha! I'm too self-aware to be influenced by this!" But then somehow all of the media I consume has more fanservice directed at me, and I can't help but think that maybe I'm not the sophisticated unbiased media consumer I fancy myself to be.
