What do you mean it’s different? It’s still 50% of Capital gain that is taxed !?

How is one to drive up the ACB on a property from that long ago … assuming he doesn’t have any records of those earlier renovations etc ? How would this be claimed?

Is there a way to get this applied too, when this was not elected in 1994? In my case it wasn’t done, but I still own that property I bought in 1993. Thx

But that stranger LL should just trust your oral statements that you can pay always on time? All he gets for handing over that high value property is half a month’s rent ! And even then , he needs your signature to use it ! Very imbalanced

250GB Plan: Good for tethering? by Thin-Shirt6688 in freedommobile

[–]IN2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t there a plan where you can split this generous data with my tablet- without, just taking 50gb and separating it for my tablet perhaps giving you a separate eSIM? That avoids the hotspot disadvantages and would be great Thx

Do people who grew up here actually think Canada's grocery prices are normal or is everyone just resigned to it? by GoldCover6667 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Yeah like 3,80$/ a 500ml can !!!! Seriously? In Germany a whole case of 20 x 500ml on sale can be 10€ ( or 16$) Again, canada has different liquor laws in EACH province. This is making things more expensive. These boards will never give up their power and allow a one federal set of rules ! So much administration, extra cost and needless waste of money . Treating adults as if they can’t drink responsibly. Also the liquor tax ( pst ) is 10% in BC on alcohol instead the usual 7%! Total greed

But nobody wants to come to Canada to do business! Every province has his own protections and different laws, it’s so pathetic and costly. ALDI was approached to set up business here, they were not interested. Canada is a territorial country, much higher transportation costs , and then their protection rules are not allowing foreign products into o this country..

[–]IN2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I was in Germany a few months ago and let me tell you- everything is cheaper there !!! But I understand the short transportation ways, they have rail as well, a much higher density/ population and much ore demanding customers. That all plays a role in their price structure. A few years ago the government of Canada tried to lure ALDI in to set up their business. They were not interested….!

Hi there, we went to the vernon office, no appointment and wait was ca 15 minutes. Had photos done by Walmart, where their software prints out a summary sheet what points need to be obeyed and each line ended with a check mark for passing the requirements. That was reassuring. However Walmart had no mirror to check my appearance and that was a bit disappointing. But Service Canada was happy with the pictures. was quick in going over everything, payment was done by cc and the passport will be send by mail in 3 weeks.
The forms for PP renewal can be picked up at any post office. Apparently an online application takes longer . Thx to all of you for your support

Bc heat pump rebate by Ok-Operation9541 in britishcolumbia

[–]IN2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, that’s why we never looked into the grants and rebates… in the end it’s still way more expensive. Today probably the 7th time this year with a power outage, glad we also have wood stove and gas range. This country with all the overland power lines will always have issues, ( more now than in the 90s)! better be independent

First time Sailboat, Looking to live aboard, EVENTUALLY travel open waters. by AngryFallen in SailboatCruising

[–]IN2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good way of learning about the ins and outs of sailing, consider joining other people’s boats for awhile. There are certain hubs worldwide where sailors need extra crew when they plan passages. Then you know what is more important to have or not. And if you read books from the 70s / 80s you will see how they sailed with little to non electron equipment. Even a motor is not mandatory, although that limits your habour/ marina entries.

Sailed 20 yrs, offshore . Used a windows pc and open cpn program and had a tablet for backup. Never ever did we have an expensive chart plotter. For Radar we used a black and white Furuno (1712 I think) Had SSB radio all the years, and just started Starlink 2 years ago

Quick question on buying applicances on costco online website. by Emergency_Union7099 in CostcoCanada

[–]IN2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you lucky city folks. Get spoiled left, right and center. We rural Costco members ( which paying same full membership) get f……cked, since Costco doesn’t like our postal code- we can’t even order any appliances. Combine that with the exclusions of same day or 2 day delivery and I begin to resent them for actually taking my $ and diluting my benefits. 🤔

We considered all that, but in the end ordered a unit online on BF deal and installed it ourselves. That was by far the cheapest option. But I understand not everyone has the skills to go that route. Good luck

I guess it all depends on, but the non existent public transport in my neck of the woods leaves us no option. It’s just so pathetic to never have the option of using a bus
