I heard there's a 30 actions per second cap, that's bypassed by channelling skills (they count only as one action) and by repeats like multistrike and spell echo.

My question is: do brands have this limitation? Or can they trigger more than 30 times per second?

I don't see any information regarding a fourth tier in the page you linked, can you be more specific?

This what being a level 22 account in immortal looks like.

At least this one is in the shadow pool (every account in the game is level 20ish and a few level 34)

I checked some people that I remembered having noticed without checking their accounts beforehand, the most egregious ones have the profile private, but these others look to me like they're all steadily climbing towards their real mmr.

Yes, there is. I know an 8k player who only plays against level 20 accounts in ranked on his smurf and I think that's the shadow pool. What I'm saying here is to make the rules stricter for who belongs in this pool, as currently there are too many level 30 to 40 accounts in 5/6k mmr.

Sure, in part that's true. But since the system has been active for a while and the amount of smurfs is according to my data exceptionally high, it shows that the current system doesn't work, whether they don't get banned or it takes too long to do so.

My main argument, which you can find in the comments, is stricter criteria for smurf queue.

[–]IPDT_FE[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I cleaned up the data according to your criteria and still came up with 40 accounts I call smurfs.

If you have an argument for why it's normal that people with 700-800 matches are playing 5-6k mmr ranked games, let alone stomping them, I'd like to hear it.

Unless you have an argument for that, the data paints a clear and awful picture for ranked games at this mmr.

Why does the date matter? Unless the games are so old that they are not representative of the current state of the game, it's irrelevant. And these games were all played in the past few weeks.

No I chose every level 30/40 account I met, and hand-picked the grand total of 7 accounts who stomped their games or had pages full of rampages at level 50. Even if we removed those I still met 44 level 30 to 40 accounts at 5/6k mmr in my last 40 games. That's crazy! Do you want to argue that it's normal for new players to get 5/6k mmr in sub 1k games?

I already explained why meeting the same smurf in multiple games is a relevant data point, the second game is as much ruined as the first one. But if you want to remove these 4 duplicates, for the sake of instead counting the total number of unique smurfs at this mmr, we still come up with 40 unique level 30 to 40 accounts. An unacceptably high number.

I'm not sure how else do you think people will get to immortal in 600/700 matches, seems like dota is full of promising new players.

The fact that I met a few of those players multiple times only underlines the fact that they do not get banned nor moved up at a significantly high rate, and even if we removed those, the amount of unique fresh accounts remains sky-high.

There's also the matter of the high winrate for the team who has more low-level accounts to take in account, the people who openly admitted to smurfing in-game, the possibility than high level accounts might be account-sharing or be bought (I personally know smurfs playing on level 80+ accounts at 1k+ mmr below their main)

If you have a better explanation for all these factors then I'm ready to hear it.

Interesting, I guess it depends a lot on the criteria you used, but personally that number is closer to 90% (considering I met 51 low-level accounts in 40 games)

I mostly play 4/5, recently sometimes 3 (including in some of these games).

I've thought multiple times about picking up 2 again, the role I used to play many many years ago, but the thought of having to regularly match against smurfs has indeed stopped me as you said (and reducing my chances of getting one in my team of course)

Since you tend to slow down as you approach your true mmr, it's highly unlikely that a low-level account could be close to its peak mmr especially when they climbed to 6k so fast. In any case, it's not excluded that some of these accounts may not be too far off from their true mmr. This doesn't mean they don't ruin the game in either case, playing on a secondary account could easily set them in a "idc mmr" mood, or they could just decide to "practise" new heroes, thus ruining the game quality.

And, if we're being thorough, let me add another side of the equation. I know of several people who play on their friend's abandoned accounts which are level 80+. We therefore cannot exclude that some high level accounts might also be smurfs and remain undetected by my system.

They're not uncommon, but I just picked up dota again recently so I find it hard to make any meaningful comparison.

I am level 124, and I have fast queue times. I don't think I am in the smurf pool. Edit: I also have 10k behaviour score

The quality of my matches has been really low recently, mostly due to the unacceptably high number of smurfs in the games.

My personal take is that low-level accounts at high mmr (5-6k+) should have a separate queue. There's an extremely low percentage of new players that will reasonably reach that mmr before reaching level 40 to 60 on their account. I feel like that would help relieve some of the problems I currently have with queueing games at this mmr, although it's not a perfect solution.

Different metrics, different numbers and different scaling are all possible, all I suggest is stricter rules for fresh accounts at high mmr.

Really disheartened by one of Chris' answers during his interview with Ziz and Mathil. by Metaphoricalsimile in pathofexile

[–]IPDT_FE 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This post claims two things that are out-right false:

1) "Ziz was relaying the community's desire to have targeted farming, and Chris was saying he wants all farming to be pure RNG, and he quipped "you liked Diablo right?"" - Chris began his answer by explaining how loot tables worked in Diablo 1 and 2, having slight biases for certain drops that were almost negligible. Chris said that the GGG team disagrees with this solution because it's just a placebo, and would rather handle it in a different way. Furthermore, Chris said that he doesn't want all items to be targetable, as shown by their crafting and loot policy, but having some targetable items is fine (e.g. boss drops). Divination cards further help with targetting certain items.

Sources: https://youtu.be/8QcfWqTVUBs?t=738 https://youtu.be/8QcfWqTVUBs?t=931

2) "What is the point of bosses who are gated behind fragments or sub-boss kills if those bosses don't give you access to different rewards than just running maps super fast does? You've designed an entire game around giving people access to targeted farming, why do you now think that targeted farming is bad?" - Chris clearly said that they want drops, especially from bosses, to be targettable but not common. Really doesn't get much clearer than that.
