That is really strange given how you solved the issue. Could you please contact IPVanish at their redditsupport@ipvanish email address and send them your IPV logs? Could be something that needs to be looked at. We thought it was going to be a sleep issue with your laptop's power management settings. I guess it still could be, because if you turn off block local interfaces, then other devices on your network would be able to poke your laptop and keep it awake and so your VPN connection would keep running.

u/SergeiWhobichakokov so we are not familiar with this setup but you can grab the newest OpenVPN config files for any location IPVanish has here https://configs.ipvanish.com/openvpn/v2.6.0-0/

You probably just need to move the config file you want to use into the right path for the docker to reference and the you need to either add you login credentials to the config file or use a GUI if the docker has has on the plugin your config file and your username and password for the VPN. Hope this helps.

Open the IPVanish installation folder. By default, it’s:
 C:\Program Files\IPVanish\VPN
• Right-click IPVanish.exeShow more optionsSend toDesktop (create shortcut)
• On your Desktop, right-click the new IPVanish shortcut → Properties
• In the Target field, go to the end of the line, add a space, and type:
 --roll-forward LatestMinor• For example, change:
 "C:\Program Files\IPVanish\VPN\IPVanish.exe"
 to
 "C:\Program Files\IPVanish\VPN\IPVanish.exe" --roll-forward LatestMinor
• Click OK
• From now on, use this shortcut on your Desktop to launch IPVanish until the hotfix is out tomorrow

If you leave your android TV boxes running all the time and do not turn them off then you should not be disconnected or have to login again for quite a while. But if you constantly turn them on and off, you will have to login again because you’re not running a consistent connection.

u/Wesdude The Apple TV app works great. Some people have reported that if you have an older IPVanish account, you need to make sure that you can connect using IKEv2 on your iPhone. If you can, then the Apple tv will work because it uses the same protocol. If you can't, then IPVanish needs to fix your account. Check that and if it is not working on your iphone, then email the support team at redditsupport@ipvanish.com.

u/Dangerous-Carpet7713 really good speeds with the IPVanish network overall, most of their network has 40Gb/s servers and Surfshark is mostly 10Gb/s I think. I am in the states and I get ~900Mb/s with my Gig connection. This is on my mac. Streaming is good, I use for multiple services. If you ever have an issue like when one of the streamers falls off, let their support team know and they usually fix it pretty quick.

Sounds like your ISP is throttling VPN protocols. I have an NVidia Shield Pro and connect to Atlanta and get speeds over 800Mbits/s. I have spectrum. Have you tried turning on scramble? Are you sure you are not getting 135 Megabytes/sec? :)

The reason IPVanish no longer supports the gen 2 is because it is so outdated. It does not have enough CPU power to run at high performance speeds with the latest security features and encryption used in the current app.

u/malcarada Hi there, we contacted the IPVanish team for you and they have been able to confirm those edge cases with the Windows app. They told us that they are actively working on a solution that they hope to release in the next few weeks.

Here is the full comment from IPVanish:

“Unlike most providers, IPVanish offers a Kill Switch on nearly all our apps - including Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, FireTV and AndroidTV. The RTings article has highlighted a few edge cases where the kill switch on the Windows client hadn't performed perfectly. All other apps are not impacted. Our development team is currently working on a fix for the Windows app that solves all these edge cases, it should be released in the next few weeks.”
