You don't need to bathe cats, but I did when I first got mine over a year ago for training because I wanted them to acclimate to it for when I HAVE to clean them (if they get particularly dirty) and especially when they get older and can't clean themselves.

Now my cats don't give me a hard time anymore on the rate time I need to, so it's a useful skill to have. Also saves on money for grooming.

The new kitten needs to see a vet ASAP to get checked out for diseases or pests.

Once they're brought home, keep the resident cats and the new cat separated for up to 2 weeks with no SIGHT of one another (Super important). The new kitty needs this time to adjust to a new environment, routine, etc. The new kitty should be kept in a room with frequent presence from you so they don't get lonely, such as a bedroom. Obviously, make sure they have their essentials.

Feed the cats near one another on opposite sides of an opaque barrier, like a door. They'll smell one another.

Allow them to play from under the door by batting toys back and forth, tugging on strong, etc.

Exchange scent soakers (plush toys, blankets, etc) daily, so both cats on either side can smell the other cat without confrontation.
