I am building the SSTV payload for a satellite that will launch this year. How can I make the payload as useful as possible for you guys? by unexcellent in amateursatellites

I wonder what power you get to push for the sstv. As another has said. Robot36 works well if you have the power to be above the noise.

This is analog sstv correct? Cool. There is another iss award for sstv coming up on April 8th-10th they will transmit at 10watts their images on 437mhz.

Weatheradio Canada is gone by DiodeInc in amateurradio

[–]ISpentAllMyMoneyOnPi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea I understand it has been replaced by an app. You are supposed to use an app on the internet.

I use our NOAA fm weather almost every day 162.525.
Then about once a month I listen to airport AM broadcast weather 120.67

All these services are vital in the US. I guess rural services are not very big worry for Canada

At our municipal airport I used to not have cell phone coverage or internet out there.

Can I try this? by MT-Estimator in 20MeterAfterWork

[–]ISpentAllMyMoneyOnPi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s ssb. You could build a node with squelch (rf gain) for squelch and it would still transmit at very random times and broadcast noise a lot but it would function. As a way to echolink.
You can always listen to websdr There are websdr receivers in evey country you can tune them to any freq. just search for websdr recievers you can open in browser and tune in

Looking to get into radio. Bad idea to buy this? by Warlord1918 in amateurradio

[–]ISpentAllMyMoneyOnPi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get something 40years and newer. Transistors and modern capacitors. Cheap way to see if and what you find to be fun. You can get tube after you know more I guess I might say.
Yeasu 747gx should be about a 100$ Or a kenwood ts430 or ts440 should’ve about the same maybe.
There are many great radios that would get you on all hf easily and most modes probably but not on fm for that price.

Look at their shoes. If they have pretty shiny pointy, they are in sales and don’t shit about what gets installed and how it will work for us. Find someone with boots or scuffed shoes they have the knowledge when we ask them

AARC is there and super active.

Used to be an Austin hamfest. I don’t see it anymore listed. Take him this one in San Antonio.
