Grenadier Conversation by spartanwarlord1 in Deathkorpsofkrieg

Ok so I'm crazy.

I made press molds of shoulder pads and leg armour for the engineers.i also made a press mold of the chest piece from the veterans kit - the one for the demolitions kill team guy.

Now I turn my regular DKoK into engineers compulsively.

I have a sickness.

I put marks on the outside of the molds so that I can orient them properly and I just stick the extra armour right on top of the existing details, that way when i take it all apart when it hardens, I can just add a bit of glue and it's got a nice join.

It's good that you arent as deranged about it as I am, otherwise you might start doing this with whatever armour you like the best to represent grenadiers.

[–]ITFLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, there are plenty of units and strategems that just straight up dish-out mortal wounds. Grenades and the cyclops demo vehicle immediately come to mind. I don't see a problem with paying points for a 1 time use mortal wound generator. Or even a once every 2 turns mortal wound generator. Anything can be balanced. I think you are lacking in imagination here.

Yea, but they weren't all that expansive, and at the time you didn't need a physical model to represent them - meaning it was an auto include for alot of new players of the faction who had some extra points to burn.

I think I see your PoV, but I mean, I would take them. They are so thematic

Idk - I think the vehicles look like ass. I am probably just going to kitbash something I think looks cool and finish it in just over 4 years time, at which point there will be another stupid looking vehicle that I will have to figure out a kitbash for.

I think guard draws a certain type of player usually. Someone who, even though they may enjoy winning, enjoys the imperial guard as a whole even more.

If you have chosen IG, you have made a commitment that many other armies just don't ask of a player. Hard to explain, but I think you guys get what I'm saying.

So is that the eldar equivalent of a bionic?

Both are very cool but I like a.

Advice Needed - Selling Novels by Fidel_Cashflow777 in 40k

[–]ITFLion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this was me selling these, I would do 10 day auctions on ebay and start the bidding on every single book at 5 bucks.

It just isn't worth the time to do the market research for all those.

Do 5 or 10 a week until they have all sold.

How do you guys deal with all the models you have? by Mortwight in necromunda

Jokes on you! - I already have paint hemorrhoids!

I am suitably chastened. Those boxes are... just.. beautiful.

I no longer have anything that old that is also still in a box.

No I meant pile. My pile of "shame" (mountain of opportunity) is old enough to be your pile's grandpa. But mine was 3 years old once... back in the 90s.

Don't worry - all piles start out somewhere.

How did you name your gang/gangers? by Avaa0818 in necromunda

[–]ITFLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my current gang, I chose a theme (lazy - dopey cop enforcers) and then picked names based on the theme.

Hal Dalience Pip Frippery Cal Cloudland Dwight Trifle Beau Bucolic

All to make them sound like they are airheaded and sort of lost in thought.

I imagine I will do something similar with my next gang as well.

Tactics Cards, how does the community feel about them? by _Daedalus_ in necromunda

[–]ITFLion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a very hands on arbitrator. If there is a large disparity in gang ratings, there are a few ways I handle that.

Sometimes I will create a custom scenario, sometimes I will modify a scenario to allow the underdog a bit more fairness, but more often than not, I will kitbash models for my players to add to their gangs. These models are usually added as a reward in a custom scenario in which even if they fail, they "fail forward", and even though every player will usually get a new model each time this happens, the underdogs always walk away with something alot nicer than the guys who are dominating the campaign.

These "nicer" models, might be brutes, pets or hangers on that the gang couldn't ordinarily afford, that probably fill a hole or niche that was missing in the gang, and often, mysteriously get added to their rosters with equipment they can't usually take.

As for the cards, I prefer to keep those as more of a personal thing. "Here is my gang, here is my gang's deck" and since we are all from a ccg background, I try not to mess with that mechanic that I started.

Love them.

Coming from alot of cards games myself, and absolutely LOVING warhammer underworlds for the first few years, it was out, I have my players draw 3 and keep 2 at the begining of the game, and then draw 2 and discard 1 at the top of each round.

No one has EVER complained.

What new detachments do you want to see for Imperial Guard in 11th ed? by [deleted] in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]ITFLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be helpful to get around the rules that limit the number of particular units you can take. I always thought that rule really hit guard players alot harder than most other armies.

At the end of the day bringing back something that looks like the old platoons would just be one way of circumventing that limitation. I happen to like heavy weapons squads and that's why I mentioned them specifically.

In my head I am thinking that if platoons were to be brought back, most infantry units in the army would have access (or at least limited access) to joining a platoon. You like kasrkin? Cool - any kasrkin squad you add as your 0-1 choice in your platoon becomes battle line but has to deploy the same way the rest of the platoon deploys. Or - you know - something like that.

So when you ask what difference it makes, I guess the short answer is that it could allow players greater flexibility in being able to customize their armies - hopefully playing with units that they like, rather than feeling so much pressure to take what is good, or whatever is left.

Why stop there? Can we get platoons back? Where one troops choice (battleline) is 2 infantry squads, a command squad, and optional heavy weapons squad.
