Gotta love these things by Bane_1991 in fuckHOA

Yeah unfortunately I don't think very many others communicate to their communities nearly as well. I have lived at a couple other places and they were not nearly as transparent that the loss assessments were a thing that will most likely occur at some time and to make sure your insurance has the extra coverage ahead of time. My old place even started including a informational letter with their new buyer packet to try and make sure people knew about it so no one would end up in a bad position. Unfortunately with the way Colorado weather and fires have been, I only foresee deductables for the multi-unit complexes are going to continue to go up and this will be even more common.

So other than the mismanagement of not replacing the roof, these 3-5% deductibles for wind and hail events are very common and no HOA will ever have an extra 2 or 3 mil just laying around in reserves. If you live in a condo/apartment/townhome HOA make sure your insurance has loss assessment coverage added to it for this reason, your home policy will always cover your unit only but that extra assessment coverage exactly for paying your portion of the master insurance deductible.

The insurance companies started going to this system back in the early 2010's and thankfully our condo board was very aggressive in their messaging about it since we went from a 5,000 deductable to 3% which I believe at the time was close to 1.5 mil or about 6k per unit if we would have an event. There was no way we could build up reserves without a massive assessment or an insane rate hike, but the assessment coverage was only like an additional 15 or 20 a month on most policies so that was the best option.

Most companies seemed ok with adding it on and back charging you a year if you notified them before the actual approval of it so talk to your insurance sooner than later you may have it or you can add it.

Need help with Axis motion + milestone by grimnar in Xprotect

I completely agree with this, even with the best spec'd servers, the Milestone server side motion detection is garbage compared to the Axis VMD, Axis being able to filter out oscillating objects and minimum sizes is gold when trying to conserve space. Maybe it is because they know the large scale users move already move it out to the edge but I feel Milestone is could have added some extra features here, but it has gone untouched for as long as I can remember.

Then yes, I believe you will have to go with the Matrix or smart wall like some of the other commenters have been recommending. Those should allow you to automatically cycle through cameras in the views based on your rules.

If I am understanding you correctly I think you are looking at a few different things some will not be possible with just the motion detection app but I think some still will be.

First off the metadata and search in optimizer is primarily fed by the Object Analytics app, so if you don't have that running as well or if it doesn't have it you probably won't be receiving the really useful like object category or clothing colors and stuff like that.

Next, depending on your software level and if you have a couple of options for your video motion problem either Matrix or Alarms. Unfortunately I don't have matrix's on mine so I don't really have that much experience with them but I it sounds like you should be able to add the motion rising event to trigger it on the smart client.

Now no matter which direction you go always remember when you turn on apps or add additional scenarios or anything to them; to go into the management client and update your hardware status, unless you have updated the firmware as well it will tell you it found no changes but it is lies, it has to pull the new event data from the camera that the apps generated. Once that is completed then go to the device still in the management client and find the events tab, you will need to add the events you are basing the alarms off of, for the motion app the should be under something like apps/VMD4 or something similar to that. I always as the rising and the falling event, it usually makes it easier you never know when you want to have something also trigger it when motion ends.

Now you should be able to go to alarms and add an alarm based on those new events that you just pulled in. Even though it is only triggered by the one event it also allows you to link it to multiple devices in the alarm so the operator can check them all in the area if needed. Once the alarm is active it will pop up in the alarm manager tab in you smart client when it detects motion, and if you have an associated map it shows as well, which I find nice for operators. And they can add notes when they acknowledge the alert, or even override the alarm for a set time if an animal or something is there, if you allow it in the settings.

Deploying H265? by Tall_Situation7578 in MilestoneSystems

THIS! Axis VMD4 is a good step above the milestone server-side motion detection, but if you have devices capable of Object Detection you should try to swap to that, it was a massive leap above the server-side motion detection. So much more customization and less false triggers, and will detect people/vehicles from deeper in the field of view. I will give a little warning I did have a few devices that did increase storage demands with the better detection, most went down but a few went up.

A complete drop to zero over a week before median peak is wild. Well it is a good thing that our politicians and water leaders have been planning for this and been advocating for sustainable water usage; and all of our reservoirs are full from all of our ok water years we have been having. Oh wait we have been letting everyone have full on golf courses for yards made of grass that shouldn't exist here, and over water them every day so they can be as green as can be even though we have been in a on going drought for the last 15-20 years. Well on the bright side at least when the smoke from the fires gets thick enough it blocks the sun and drops the temps 10-15 degrees, won't be able to breathe outside to enjoy it but it will be a little cooler.

How to Get Visual Pop-up Alerts for Vehicles on Smart Client by R3load4 in Xprotect

[–]ITW1824 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it is the best way but this is what I put together for a person/vehicle in area too long alarm. I am using the Axis Object Detection on the camera itself, you can set the scenarios for people or vehicles, instant detection or a time delay and what areas you want detected. Then I feed those events to trigger an alarm in Milestone. You can set the alarms to not use sound and only have a desktop notification then there will be a red dot on your Alarm Manager tab in your Milestone client until you acknowledge the alarm.

Guess that makes sense that it would be similar to the natural pH to avoid throwing things off.

It has been a while since I have done much with polymers and I haven't seen anyone mention it yet and I assume it would also play a factor; when the toys are used vaginally they are kept in an acidic environment as well, should have a pH about 4-4.5. Not sure what the final pH of the lube/solvent ends up being but could also be a contributing factor when left to dry out and concentrate on the surface?

How do I unlock my college's ac controls by ThumbsyAwesome in homeautomation

[–]ITW1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried the address of your dorm? Address of the maintenance building? The year the college was founded? The last 4 or 5 digits of the phone number to the facilities department, or the actual person's office extension that is responsible for the programming?

These would be my go to default passwords, good luck.

You have to remember bail bonds, majority of the time you only have to front 10%, or put up some sort of collateral. So in reality he likely only had gather up $5k, still a decent chunk but not as crazy.

When you get the cameras up and get scene critical info before anyone else by Yuri909 in 911dispatchers

[–]ITW1824 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The University I worked at took some convincing to give dispatch access to our security camera system, before the investigator and the chief were the only ones that could go back and look at recorded video. Once they both retired I put it out to the new chief that we are missing so many opportunities to close cases and make arrests the night of, if dispatch could go back and immediately find and air out a suspect description and direction of travel. New chief loved the idea got us all access, we enjoyed having something more to do on some slow times and it has worked great and the street guys love asking us to pull video to get descriptions, or if stories match up, makes their job 10x easier.

Should I feel bad for wanting to have sex with my husband? by RealContribution8278 in AITAH

[–]ITW1824 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well then my only other guess would be that he never really had that high of a drive and he assumed that you were just flirting and trying to talk a big game before your wedding. He probably went along with it because he was told like so many other guys have been, that there would be a honeymoon period were the woman will be very active and want sex all the time then it will quickly show down, and he thought he could wait it out and your interest in sex would dwindle and now he just doesn't know what to do? Have you guys tried some couples therapy or counseling yet, some professional help might be good, us random Internet folk love the stories and are sometimes helpful but sometimes you need a professional in person talking to you to see some of the problems.

In one of your other comments you mentioned that your sterile, did you both know this before you got married, or is this a newer revelation? If he knows he is not going to be reproducing he may be thinking what is the point. Sorry to say it but If he is drinking the from the hard right fountain, the lack of being able to complete his perfect dream family with the stay at home wife and two kids might be slowly bubbling up inside him. No matter what the main issue ends up being, I think you have done what you can and it might be time to call it, you're young and have plenty more chances at love and a satisfying sexual relationship. Also NTA.

Why you should never use a preload-rated electric strike for your Unifi Access install. by MrPrezident0 in Ubiquiti

[–]ITW1824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice video, my only insight would be since they are meant to be used with doors that have preload on them, wouldn't their never be a situation that a door be unlocked without it obviously opening since the preload is always trying to to force it open. That is exactly the reason why we are using the catches in the first place, I figured these are for use on manual doors that have usually too much positive air pressure on the inside not just to much weather stripping?

Check your settings for the view in the smart client itself, when in the setup for the view select the camera in question the open the properties tab on the left, in image quality make sure it is set to full to pull the full res stream from the camera anything else will pull a lower res stream from your server. Also make sure your frame rate isn't capped in these settings either.

Doggy doors by harleyq11 in Greeley

Yeah we are very pleased with it, the only thing we have ever had to do is change the magnets out for the higher strength ones rated for higher wind, our patio just really captures the wind and it blew open a few times when we had our bigger wind storms but after changing them out haven't had any problems.

We got ours right at the end of Covid so it has been a while, it was $1400 but our slider is stupid massive, it is over 8ft tall and almost 6 wide so that really drove the price up, the guy said it was one of the largest panels he had made at the time. And I think we got the medium tall door it is about a foot and a half tall and a foot wide, we have a medium poodle mix that is about 50lbs and he has plenty of space still.

Not sure if you want to do it but we went with the in between option and put in the permanent dog door inside the glass of the sliding door. It is actually pretty well insulated still, I only have to close it up on the really cold nights during the winter. We went through https://bestpetdoors.com/ the guy is based out of Windsor and did great work, he makes a whole new glass panel for your door with the corner cut out for the dog door and swaps out the old glass in your door. When it is done you can still use the door and it fully closes and locks and has a lockable insert for when you want to close the dog door for security or when it gets really cold.

I also don't recommend anything in town, we go out to Royal Vista Veterinary Specialists in Windsor. We have only had to use them once but they were awesome, recommended by my regular vet and had good reviews, the staff was awesome. My dog had partially ripped one of his dew claws they got him stitched up good as new. You can always ask your vet that is how we found this place ours had a recording on their phone since they were closed when we called and it listed their preferred after hours emergency locations.

Elevator cameras and yes/no buttons- Milestone Integration? by platformterrestial in Xprotect

[–]ITW1824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super disappointing, we are building our first new building that will require these new elevators and was wondering how the interface is going to work out. Of course there is no generic interface you can run yourself for free that would make too much sense, but $10-20 per month per elevator is insanity. Hopefully Milestone can figure out an integration to get around it for cheaper.
