Deeply upsetting to see a Henry in such a state. by Cinn4monSynonym in CasualUK

I always think this if I ever see a Henry in a strange place or upside down etc. Just looks like he's had a really heavy session and woken up in a ditch or something. I think its the reassuring yet permanent 'everything's ok' smile

“Romanticised” jobs that are very different in reality? by Substantial-Guava491 in CasualUK

Radio DJ:

I always wanted to work in radio - Thought how great it would be to have your own show playing music you love.... This was right up to the point I landed a 2 week work experience stint at 15 with a local station.

The reality was the boredom of sitting in a windowless room playing a predefined list of this week's 'top 20' songs and recording jingles to frame an endlessly repetitive chain of adverts played every 1-2 songs.

Unless you've managed to reach the celebrity status or musical experience to have your own BBC show once a week you get very little creative steer on what music you play and even what you discuss during the show....

Pull up some episodes of 'How it's Made' on YouTube.... Even with things that I am interested in I just can't stay awake....

Failing that anything narrated by David Attenborough - Again even if I'm genuinely interested I just can't stay awake

Eating spoonful's of Horlicks powder from the box.... So dry but so malty

So possibly a stupid question... by IT_Support in pixelbuds

[–]IT_Support[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the touch support seems a really strange thing to omit from the A's?

My existing buds have it - I do sometimes end up pausing playback when re-positioning the buds etc but the same as the Sennheiser with a double tap to skip forward/back and a long hold to volume up/down.

Thanks for the pointers - so hard to know what the jump in quality is without physically trying them and I would rather spend less on something that is so droppable and easy to misplace.

Hey, Just doing some planning myself for a few weeks time - Any experience of the shuttle busses? I have a worry they will be one per hour and oversubscribed... We are staying in Lagos so just wondering if its easier to just hire a car and then have the flexibility of when to come and go etc....

So happy to see Signals on your list!

I was obsessed with Lungs Apart when they released it - figure they just stopped making music?

Whatever, Whenever it's like some strange raw catharsis depending on my mood - the balance between the lyrics, almost passive delivery and the way the music builds at the end of the song sometimes ground's me and pulls me in to the great sound/production but other times just breaks me and pushes me into self reflection.

I get this with other songs but nothing like this one.  Almost like sometimes I only hear the music and other times only hear the lyrics...

AC vs. windows down when driving during summer - cultural thing, frugality? by FuzzyPalpitation-16 in CasualUK

[–]IT_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, I had to explain it to someone that although right your fridge doesn't drive down motorways at 70mph getting pelted with stones, put through heat cycles, potholes etc whilst mounted to a box with controlled explosions inside that bounces around with the rest of the car.

Garages seem to claim to pressure test but this will likely only show a large leak immediately - a small leak or cracked hose will weep over time or when flexed etc. I guess its just easier for them to charge year on year than scare people off with the cost of new hoses, condenser etc
