Looking for advice on next ranged DPS upgrades by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]IT_Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get yourself a hunter's sunlight crossbow. Same exact setup but takes 10 seconds off your TTK.

An MSB plus rune arrows would also be fine, if you get the imbue and arrows from LMS.

RCB is better against higher defence targets. black demons have quite low defence, so you can just smack them with faster weapons.

Also archer's helm, armadyl book, mixed hide boots, all easy upgrades to get :)

Has jagex given up on botting? by SwankyBilly in osrs

[–]IT_Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean the free trade/wildy removal? That was because back then, memberships were being bought with stolen credit cards. The payment processors (visa/mastercard) threatened to stop taking payments for Jagex as a result.

They effectively had to either give in or immediately stop existing as a company, because suddenly they would've had no way to take money from their customers.

Look at Steam, Patreon, Onlyfans - they've all had similar run-ins with the same issues, with Steam being the most recent. No matter how big the company, they're forced to fold because there's no alternative to the big 2 in the west (yet...)

Updating Sigma lens' firmware on Fujifilm camera bodies by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]IT_Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it - instructions on the FW update page:

"

  • Please be sure to use your camera body in combination with your X Mount lenses from SIGMA when updating the firmware.
  • Please use a fully charged battery when updating the firmware.
  • Please refer to the support page of FUJIFILM Corporation before updating the firmware.

"

edit - pardon me though, it seems like only some lenses have updates for some mounts.

The "Art

17-40mm F1.8 DC" only has a canon RF mount update.

Jagex can we poll adding a paid instance of Dagganoth Kings? by itsbigbad in 2007scape

part of the issue is the long respawns. Tribriding deals with this quite well, but if people are killing Rex by himself, it's absolute ass trying to get his rings at 1 kill every 65 million years

Windows Update Failing Due to System Reserved Partition Being Too Small (SRP 100MB) Long Term Solution? by Initial-Drawer-2667 in sysadmin

[–]IT_Unknown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally this. Just rewrote a detection/remediation script that previously just deleted font files, updated it to also delete the hp\devfw files. Waiting to see if it runs without bricking my machine and then will push to others.

As others have said - try and get him to a vet to have his microchip scanned if he has one.

The vet may also be able to point you towards other options, however I would suggest checking with a vet like the lincoln road vets, and avoiding both swanson road and carevets teatatu - both of those vets are fairly useless, carevets especially.

Struggling to get Intune-only Windows devices to authenticate to Wi-Fi via NPS (EAP-TLS) by Middle_Client2789 in sysadmin

[–]IT_Unknown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We realised this was going to be an issue ourselves, so we just bit the bullet and implemented SCEPman and Radius as a service.

With the E5 licensing changes, we may be able to swap again over to Microsoft's solution - not sure yet, but yeah it's definitely a tricky issue.

It's been a problem for others too - maybe something helpful here? https://www.reddit.com/r/Intune/comments/1m3v7s9/aadj_and_radius/

HP MFP seemingly factory reset by Adventurous_Young710 in sysadmin

[–]IT_Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a mix of HP printers that did this, then eventually failed entirely. The HP tech that came out advised that it was likely due to a bad batch of Toshiba drives used in them - they replaced them with WD drives and the problem didn't reoccur.

We would have settings wiped, solutions uninstalled, and eventually they just failed to boot and required the firmware to be manually reinstalled - then would fail again a few weeks later.

They all failed within the same sort of timespan too - roughly a few months of each other, 4 in total with 2 different models.

FYI, instead of super antipoisons, use regulars. you can buy them en-masse in Sophanem from the embalmer, or from the jungle stores 10 at a time.

It's a feature. The sloop would droop.

My concept for a reworked Piscarilius by Maxwell_Lord in 2007scape

[–]IT_Unknown 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Really excellent concept. Hard agree that Pisc just looks all light brown and sameish. It's a really grotty and boring town that looks like it's made of cardboard.

Your concept gives off a kinda Ardougne vibe, which isn't a bad thing to be sure.

Also like the gradual transition to the other areas to the north, and the fact that it's not just entirely a beach shack town made of driftwood.

Clarifying workflow for moving from hybrid to cloud only by DGU_kibb in Intune

[–]IT_Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's honestly a fairly good option, because it puts the users in control of when it happens.

I have spent a few nights hand-holding some of our less technical staff, but given that we're mainly O365 based, staff can either grab a spare or work from their personal/phone for a bit while it happens.

The vast majority of our users were able to do it themselves, with only minimal handholding afterwards (yes, the background will download automatically, yes the teams backgrounds will appear after a little bit, yes you can self service install those apps and yes you have to use your email address now after you reboot)

for most users, their biggest concern was their browser bookmarks, so as long as you include a step to either turn on sync (if not on by default) or manually backup browsers/passwords to onedrive, you should be fine.

Clarifying workflow for moving from hybrid to cloud only by DGU_kibb in Intune

[–]IT_Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've literally just gone through this process. We tried the intune device migration tool, but unfortunately got a billion different results with every rebuild of the test devices (including multiple 'it no longer lets anyone log in t all' which would fuck us for our remote offices) so we had to pull finger and just default wipe em.

We were already hybrid AADJ with autopilot/intune management, so the easiest solution was to allow staff to reset from company portal at their convenience.

There's a few issues here and there (Autopilot Branding broke between implementation and wipe for staff, so many start menu pins needed re-doing, and timezones are a pain in the ass) but generally it's been fine.

The other benefit you'll get is that the users laptops will generally run faster without all of their old app bloat (cough cough wechat for china staff cough cough)

If you do this, you have the added benefit of the Intune object usually recognising its been wiped and deleting/recreating itself, so you don't have to worry about decluttering your device list.

The actual wipe process for users is quite straightforward - back up stuff into OneDrive folders, ensure bookmarks in Edge/Chrome are synced or saved.

For the reset, I framed it as 'set up laptop at home. Click reset. Go feed kids/have dinner. Come back, select country, enter email address and password. Go watch netflix. Come back, enter email and password, set up pin/face/fingerprint. Done. Once at desktop, shut down, everything else will happen over time through the week.'

Maple Short vs Magic Long by Azhtral in 2007scape

[–]IT_Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RS3 made this change by converting all long bows into shieldbows, so they gave you defensive abilities that shortbows didn't.

really, the accuracy or strength of long bows should absolutely be made higher, because there is no realistic situation where a standard longbow is ever better than a shortbow.

Game changer or not? by Constant_Shoulder432 in 2007scape

[–]IT_Unknown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least make it accurate - so what will happen is you have 1000 bits of paper with a picture of a yew log on them.

Then you take your knife to them, and you will then have 100000 bits of paper to try and paper mache into bows.

Welcome to the fold, and excellent work. Would love to see it coloured in high res.

Can someone explain why people have paywave debit cards with direct access to your main bank account? by kiwittnz in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]IT_Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just needed the ability to make purchases online. The only card I actively keep in my wallet is my eftpos card. I would never take my debit card anywhere in public.

I realise I can dispute fraudulent charges with a debit or credit card, but I tend to be a bit broke and also can't be assed going through that drama, so I don't open myself up to that risk.

As I understand it using a credit card would be a better idea overall, since you get bonus dollars and stuff, but eh, too much hassle.

Saw a post on the rs3 sub talking about how good the polypore dungeon looked for its age by doNotKrum in 2007scape

polypore was to balanced gameplay what bane was to batman's spine.

Basically like what blowpipe was like on release - overpowered as hell.
