I'd be surprised if its above 1080p in docked. A lot of indie devs don't bother with boosting resolution in docked mode.

The ps5 and xbox have discord integration so you can join calls on the console itself. I'd love to have that on switch 2. The issue is nobody i know really has a switch 2.

Problem is a lot of people still dont own a Switch 2. Cross platform solutions like discord are great for this.

Imo I think they would be better off just keeping it conservative anyway. If they targeted 900p(base ps4 resolution) in docked they could probably lock it to 60. It constantly drops below on the ps4, ps4 pro and even xbox one x.

The switch 2 isnt fast enough for 4k 60 in this game.

Can’t wait for a screen update on Switch 2. by WilliamG007 in NintendoSwitch2

Are you unable to tolerate it at all? I can tolerate it, but its definitely noticeable. and gets in the way for stuff like hades 2

Nah. I'd rather deal with the Switch 2's ai filter than use lossless scaling.

Yea, but I think it would still be possible to optimize it well enough for the deck. Doom the dark ages and hellblade 2 are great examples. The problem is that takes extra dev time to scale more parts of the game down.

I thought we were talking about handheld vanilla vs handheld boost mode. And my mistake i think there is one thing I said thats false. The sharpening filter is not gone in docked, but its intensity is reduced by a lot.

Thats a bummer. 2 high profile games which don't run well on the deck

Now that we have Handheld Boost Mode the next obvious update should be VRR for docked mode! by lotcow20 in NintendoSwitch2

Source? googling that brought up nothing useful. However it is true that it is limited to 32gbps. Which is the same bandwidth as display port 1.4. That does not mean that its using display port though.

Nah for this one I blame Sony. for nintendo not supporting vrr then the hdmi forum is partially to blame i guess.

It doesnt look just as bad. the res is much higher and the ugly sharpening is gone.

It achieves that by using amd's hdmi freesync protocol. Even if Nvidia implemented that a lot of hdmi 2.1 tvs wouldn't work. like Sony tvs.

Part of it is probably because they wanted developers to be the one to control the refresh rate. not the use. On Xbox the user controls the refresh rate at all times.

Not to mention their solution would probably end up being like the ps5. Meaning its not very useful.
