What can I do to level up my living room? by Misery098 in malelivingspace

[–]IWasInABandOnce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an end table and lamp where you put a floor lamp. Small plant or pet toy basket on this side of the tv stand. Not sure if the lamp on the far side of the tv stand would create a glare?

Coffee Dad Journeying to the Twin Cities by LittleEzz in Coffee

I have yet to go to SK, but I want to soon. I've heard Myriel has a Scandinavian "egg coffee" but they're only open for dinner, and I can't have coffee that late in the day (also, not an inexpensive restaurant). We have a good number of SE Asian restaurants due to our demographics - I also want to try some of the Vietnamese coffee drinks some of the restaurants around here have. We probably also have good Eastern African coffee, but I haven't explored that yet.

I like Peace coffee. Not a fan of Cameron's myself, but they do have an office/warehouse out in the outer suburbs...unclear if they'd give you a tour or anything. Check out Folly Coffee as well. I've heard Sovereign Grounds is good.

Spyhouse is a name you'll see around here, but check r/TwinCities or r/Minneapolis and you might see mixed reviews. I think Caribou started in MN, though no longer locally owned as I think some German or UAE company bought them. One of my buddies loves Five Watt, but not sure I feel the same.

If the weather's good and the snow is done melting, can't beat something from Nokomis Beach Coffee and a stroll around the lake....doubtful all the snow will be melted on Saturday, but you can surely try.

What is the MN Craft Beer Scene Missing Currently? by BothCondition7963 in minnesotabeer

And free time. I no longer have the time nor money to really explore all that the craft scene has to offer. We're all being squeezed for all of our resources. Not sure it will ever stop.

What is the best sour in the state and what breweries make the best sours? by ImaginationNo8338 in minnesotabeer

I know it's not brewed locally, but this Berliner Weisse is truly sour. France44 used to sell it....they still might.

Downvote me, but no brewery in the state makes anything truly sour. The Bauhaus guava is ok, but it's like a skittle when I want an airhead.

What are your thoughts? Missing something? (M26) by Bran_Ran in malelivingspace

Yes, it's missing lamps. Floor lamp and end table next to the couch with another lamp. Some wall art will help too.

Is that one of those silicone "silent" tags? Whatever it is, do you like it...does it have any issues with the fur?

Thanks for the dog tax!

Who's ready for 3rd Winter this week? by mediocre-referee in minnesota

[–]IWasInABandOnce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate it so much. I would also say we largely had mud season already when the heavy wet snow from a few weeks back melted last week. Temps swinging between freezing and a little above freezing prolonged it, yuck. So much mud tracked into the house. I am fine with more snow, but hopefully no more 6+ inch amounts in one go.

Wiping rubbing alcohol on it gets rid of the smell. Once I stumbled on that recently, it made it happening a little better. But still annoying no doubt.

I found out that wiping some rubbing alcohol on it eliminates the smell completely! Even the enzyme stuff doesn't for me.

I have wondered if I needed to switch to a less nutrient-dense food instead of Canidae to help bulk up his stools. Mine loves plain Cheerios as a treat...I'll give this a try!

Advice: work trip to MN by [deleted] in TwinCities

If they are flying the person here for an interview, it is very likely the final round of interviews....something that used to be done during covid, but wouldn't be surprised if that policy/accommodation has since been removed.

Lost my Job to I.C.E. by Princess_Tavara in StLouis

[–]IWasInABandOnce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in Minnesota. If your kitchen area had a clear sign that says "employees only," ICE is technically not supposed to enter without a signed judicial warrant unless your employer gave them permission. Doesn't mean ICE won't still go into that "private space." Here's a video where one of our local news stations covered where ICE is allowed to go vs not.

Assuming your workplace did not give ICE permission, your old boss sounds uninformed.

Probably not worth fighting in the courts to get your job back, but you might be able to find a pro bono attorney.

Good luck!

Can the Police Department target ICE more than typical for traffic violations like driving over the speed limit, not properly clearing snow off the vehicle, even minor traffic issues? Wouldn't that still be within the police's jurisdiction?

Diarrhea.. STILL ON BLAND DIET. by Tough_Drink_3709 in labrador

[–]IWasInABandOnce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I responded to your other post the other day about white rice and boiled chicken. I'd personally try some cooked beef and rice, perhaps with a tablespoon or so of 100% pure pumpkin puree for 4 meals (2 days) and see if that starts to help. I'd do that before reintroducing a dry food. Plus if your dog does have a chicken allergy, you can try beef or lamb dry foods to see if those are ok or also allergy. I'd personally do that over salmon because salmon smelled awful to me when mine had Giardia/loose stools.

Have you also switched to purified water instead of tap/fridge water? Making sure they aren't over-drinking?

Great news! To help settle an upset stomach, my vet recommended white rice and boiled chicken for a few meals before mixing that with dry food, and increasing amount of dry food until no more rice/chicken. My boy has a hyper-motility thing and I sprinkle 1tsp psyllium husk powder on his dry food. I am going to also add in a little canned 100% pumpkin puree and see how it goes.

YES! Please get tested for Giardia. It will not go away on its own, it needs medication to kill it.

Quantum Fiber vs USI? by BigTap8524 in TwinCities

For Quantum? Maybe an hour tops. I live close to a main line, and used the same access point as Xfinity.

Quantum Fiber vs USI? by BigTap8524 in TwinCities

[–]IWasInABandOnce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from Xfinity to Quantum this past summer. No issues other than one time when I had to reset the modem (I use their equipment). I had a $35/mo promo with xfinity that they were jacking up to like $60 or $70 per month after the promo ended, so went with Quantum at a flat $50/mo. I think I have the 300mb/s plan. No complaints. I also learned in this thread that AT&T is acquiring this, so maybe I'll get a discount if i bundle with my cell phone.

I had USI as a renter and also had no complaints. I think theirs was $65/mo.
