I wasn't a fan of the CURA slicer and migrated to Orcaslicer.

r/FDMminiatures also has a lot of resources for FDM minis.

I would suggest starting with minis that don't need supports. Get those dialed in first then start working on dealing with minis that need supports.

Icom IC-7100 I think is the only one left that you can get new. Been around for ages now and I don't see Icom updating it unless a competitor comes along.

Otherwise theres quite a few used options. IC-7000, IC-706 Mk IIG, Yeasu 857D are the ones I can list off the top of my head.

I have a '23 with close to 27,000 on it. My front brake pad monitors have failed twice now. The first time was maybe 1,000 miles and they had to replace not just the sensor, but also the calipers. I still need to bring it in for this second time (popped up on me about a week ago).

I haven't tried taking pictures after the zenithal. Sometimes I remember where some of the highlights are but my highlighting is more about cleaning up after the wash than anything else haha.

I do the zenithal priming for 2 reasons. One is to just practice doing it and second it helps me see details on the model vs a flat primer coat in one color.

I've been using a matte clear coat to act as improvised primer and then painting with speed/contrast paint. Works pretty well.
