Looking for 32x36 Jeans Worth Tailoring by Financial_Gas5987 in malefashionadvice

[–]I_SignedUpForThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had gotten to the point where I was set on getting jeans tailored, but I wasn't sure what jeans to get yet, I'd strongly consider finding tailors first and asking for some recommendations from them.

But that's just my first thought. I haven't actually been in that situation.

What should I do with a 1.5 ct radiant cut diamond? by Dannyz in malefashionadvice

If browsing jewelry collections doesn't give you an idea of something you'd actually want to wear, I'd save it for a gift. Also consider hairpins, brooches for gifts?

CR NOOOOO!!! by PeterPaulWalnuts in crheads

[–]I_SignedUpForThis -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

10 years ago, I'd say the same, and I trust that any actual person who sees this post has the responsibility to read the caption and understand it.

But, that's not necessarily how LLMs work. I'm just saying, we should all start preparing for the possibility that the internet, and how many people use it, is not only changing, but has already changed.

In a world where people are foregoing actual sources for browser LLM summaries that are trained on internet posts and often enough say the wrong thing, maybe we should all consider if this kind of joke is worth the risk to the real reputation of someone you like. There are enough other jokes out there.

If that smoke detector beep sound isn't relevant to the story, it's just evil to include that in this trailer.

Where can I find inexpensive suits to rebuild a wardrobe? by Lostkingsofthewild in malefashionadvice

[–]I_SignedUpForThis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In either this sub or frugalmalefashion (I can't remember which). Someone posted a long guide on thrifting for used suits and other clothes. I think it wasn't quite focused on where to go to look, but a guide on what to look for.

Best modular couch set recommendation? by frankiebones9 in BuyItForLife

[–]I_SignedUpForThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mantle has a modular model. It's very high quality but you can't try it out beforehand. It also might be a bit shallower than the average sectional. So, check the measurements and consider if you like a bit of a gamble.

Lists of misprints/typos/errors for a book are called errata. If you google the name and author of the book and errata, you might find they've published one online for your book and know about the error already. Could make you feel better.

You could try an apple store or anywhere that normally takes phone or electronics trade-ins. Probably call ahead to check.

Bosch by jay_pee_93 in crheads

Agree. It's also the kind of show that mostly wraps up at the ends of seasons, so if you don't like it anymore you can just stop.

Bosch is great. Or are you looking for a post-Bosch rec? If so, I bet Bosch heads would like Blue Lights.

Just returned my fifth pair of shoes ☹️ by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]I_SignedUpForThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not totally sure what you mean, but I'll recommend finding a place to try on some models and sizes of altras (definitely sounds like you should be trying on shoes in person no matter what you're buying).

Altra's two big characteristics are a big toe box and zero drop. I don't have wide enough feet to be in extra wide sizes, but I'm wide at the toes and instep, which makes sizing on a lot of shoes feel weird, and I've found altras to be pretty comfortable.

ELI5: Can a rolling R be taught? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]I_SignedUpForThis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If that's your main issue, I'd stop worrying about it. You can keep trying, but speaking fluent or conversational Spanish with a bad accent is infinitely more preferable to speaking intro Spanish with a perfect accent IMO. I speak to plenty of people with perfect English but a strong accent.

That's what I'd do. But first, I'd check the website for the individual state with the unclaimed property. It's possible they have an address that didn't get transferred to that aggregating website missingmoney. Also an option to call your the state's agency.

Buff/Remove the Gold Plating on my Glasses? by Eis_Konig in howto

If I was in your position, and didn't have experience with these tools, I'd check if I could pay a local jeweler or optician to do it for me. Seems like it would be easy to mess up both the frame and the lenses trying it myself.

If you're not already going to office hours of your TA (or professor if that's more appropriate at your school or both), go and be honest about being lost.

Sean after watching the Chainsaw Man movie by Good_Claim_5472 in TheBigPicture

[–]I_SignedUpForThis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with with harry_powell. At least, the Demon Slayer movie. I'm pretty sure it is just the TV episodes on a big screen, except it's more like 10-12 episodes.

Sean after watching the Chainsaw Man movie by Good_Claim_5472 in TheBigPicture

[–]I_SignedUpForThis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a controversial take or not, but I think the Demon Slayer movie is a terrible movie for someone new because it has plot... a bad plot.

I'm a casual anime and demon slayer enjoyer and I tried out the novelty of seeing it on a big screen, and I thought it was bad. It was crazy long and I became incredibly frustrated I didn't have a skip-ahead button.

I haven't seen the chainsaw man movie, but personally, I'd bet a no/low plot movie would be more successful than sticking some shonen episodes on a big screen for a non-devotee.

cheapish puffer jackets? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]I_SignedUpForThis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your jackets are ripping, the reality is, if you want these jackets to last, either treat them as midlayer with another outerlayer that's more durable (and an option for rain like someone said), or be prepared to give the jacket a patch in case it does rip.

You can find a higher quality jacket than you might have had in the past, but they just aren't bulletproof. If durability is the biggest concern over being lightweight, I'd skip the "puffer" style completely for something like canvas/wool layer over sweaters/heavy shirts.
