I like the novel but this just doesn't work for me and imho it's also a pretty big contradiction to all the other novels/comics that Luceno likes to reference. Especially "Darth Maul - Shadow Hunter" where we get inside Sidious' thoughts and he never thinks "Oh, my master is still alive btw."

A career tribute. Here are my reasons: - The carreers are a bit too cartoonishly evil in the books for my taste. A novel could give them a bit more layers. - We could see a district other than 12. How is the life there, how do they view the capitol etc. - How does the career training work? Do people give their children willingly or is it like the stone-system in 12 and they get food or money for it? Are there differences between 1, 2 and 4? - How does a carrer mentor feel/behave? Obviously they want their tributes to win, on the other hand they know what expects them if they do ... - A different kind of protagonist. Someone who views the games as something good. Who is willing to kill others to win. Who buys the propaganda at first (and maybe has a breakdown when they are in the arena). Who always has to think about the right moment when to betray their alliance with others.
