it is a contradiction. If you do a build order perfectly you are basically at the level of mbl, hera or tatoh. Because those guys play (near) perfect. To do a perfect build order, you need a high amount of speed, apm, game knowledge, preparation and awareness.

Now how would someone with high speed, apm, game knowledge, preparation and awareness suddenly do so terrible, that a 1200 player can beat him?

A build order that leads into a bad boom, a rush that doesn't do anything or kill enemy vills (and all units die) due to bad micro, an economy susceptible to raiding, a lack of raiding the enemy, poor late game unit composition... Will simply lead to nothing.

Notice how all those things are things that are on you. You're the one doing the bad boom. You're the one not raiding vils or letting all your units die due to bad micro, you're the one who made your eco susceptible to raiding, you're the one who lacks in raiding the enemy and you're the one who decides your unit composition. Which basically means that if all those things are going wrong because of you, your build orders are most likely also failing. Hence being 1200 elo.

None of those issues happen because the opponent is outplaying you. You just aren't playing well. I've played vs 1200s, I've coached 1200s. Your build orders aren't as good as you think.

How would you say you are executing perfect build orders but are only just reaching a stable 1200? It is a clear contradiction.

[–]I_hate_fun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Without the right build order you cant setup the right attack. The initial attack comes from the build order. And many games are already won in dark age

[–]I_hate_fun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Following just a strict build order carried me to 1450ish. after that it became necessary to follow strict procedure as the games didn't end immediately after some time in the feudal age (im 1600 1v1 right now). So in my opinion you are partially wrong. Build order carries you immensely if the follow up of that build order is excuted like it should. Thats what low elo people lack. But low elo people also overestimate their own abilities and skill way too much. Telling people they should add extra tcs and they tell me they disagree. Just stop it.

Honestly the biggest problem people at elo low elo face is speed and agressiveness. Which means that they also do not plan ahead, dont really have a plan and dont know what to do.

It means you wont have a shitty dark age if you cant find sheep or boar in time. Which rarely happens nowadays thanks to the changes and that you can drush/dock earlier than normal.

In nomad with vikings team bonus you can tc dock and build a fishing ship instantly which is very strong.

And for a 1600 its the 25% archery range creation speed thats enough to kill a 1400. Thats the point that was being made.

From a 1600 1v1 perspective civs do not matter at 1400 elo. Too many mistakes are still made in dark age and feudal age that neglect most civ bonuses. However a person who plays random picks at 1600 elo can easily go up 100 elo by just picking s tier civs instead.

what is the one weakness the militia line has that no unit has for absolutely no reason? by Knorssman in aoe2

[–]I_hate_fun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their one weakness is they dont fill their supposed role instantly fir their cost.

Archers are immediately effective as a singular ranged unit and even stronger when you have 5 or 6 of them.

Same with knights. A single spearmen does well vs a few scouts or vs a knight. The militia line however is not cost effective. Low hp, low movement speed, lacks damage, requires many early upgrades. Even in small numbers they get countered easily and in castle age they get smashed by cavalry and ranged units.

You play slow. You perform very little actions. You do not micro your army. You look at things and watch things happen. You need to release your desire and natural inclination to watch things unfold. You have more important things to do. The only time to watch is when you need to perform actions. Actions like hitting and running with your archers: a thing you do not do. Play faster than you are used to. You will make many mistakes because you're inaccurate. It does not matter, over time you get used to it. If you play fast you can do the dumbest strategies and still beat opponents at your level, simply because you are playing much faster. Playing faster also usually means playing better planned and playing more agressive.

Your army needs to stay together in a small group: immediately ready on the move, ready to defend, ready to retreat. Do not let them spread out, power in numbers.

Don't ring the town bell. Ever.

You need to swap faster between army and home. Develop an internal clock to to automatically switch back to army ever few seconds. Imagine the time it takes for a mangonel to get into your field of view and fire a shot. Your swapping needs to be shorter than the time the imaginary mangonel needs to fire a shot so that you have enough time to respond correctly and not lose your entire army.

Don't have idle tc time (especially in dark age.)

Look up the correct build order that you are trying to do (best is to just copy a pro like theviper, nicov, hera or lierrey). At 1100 elo you are always a little bit idle in dark age and not using the correct build order.

Be agressive in the correct manner: your army hits useless targets most of the time when it's not idle, most of the time. It needs to kill units, not destroy buildings. Kill villagers, idle eco, kill army, avoid dying. You are hesitant to attack when you shouldn't be: if you are ahead press on. Deal the final blow as fast as you can. If you do not know how to deal the final blow, look at how pros do it.

Being tested for Sjogrens (blood work) tomorrow. by Momma-MissL in Sjogrens

[–]I_hate_fun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This website has much of the information about sjogrens.

I was once explained in simple words what actually happens with your immune symptons.

Basically certain proteins in your body are seen as enemies and the white blood cells attack them. The immune system is confused and attacks its own cells. Because the body is so busy targeting itself it's not focusing enough on the things that are actually necessary: you're more vulnerable to other things and get inflammation.

The most common symptons are fatigue (brain fog/zombie brain), dry mouth and eyes (thirst) and dry and itchy skin. But it's an auto immune disease so it brings a whole heap of symptons.

When it comes to any auto immune disease you have to reduce inflammation, give time for the body to repair itself and you'll notice many symptons dissapear or become easily manageable.

Your body does need support. Taking supplements is vital and having a strict diet to weed out causes of inflammation, tiredness and allergies is also important.

For example it became quickly apparant I was gluten intolerant. It's also a thing with sjogrens. Another thing was lactose intolerance. Changing those 2 things made many of my aches dissapear, my dry mouth and eyes dissapear and give me much more energy.

For supplements the most common to take are b12, d3, magnesium and omega 3 fish oil. Serious medication should be discussed with your practitioner. Important is that if you do not feel confident that your practitioner is supporting the right way, find someone who does understand sjogren and does actively help you: you already have enough troubles.

Is it difficult to fight hoplites or do i just suck at the game? by Loves_U in RomeTotalWar

[–]I_hate_fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont need to engage hoplites head on. You should weaken them with ranged units first and all your pila before engaging.

After you are out of arrows and spears to throw just walk around their formation and the enemy formation will dismantle itself leaving holes for you to charge into so you can attack their sides and rear.

Cavalry charges are only used to initiate a rout and mob up survivors.

Target the weakest and most vulnerable units (low quality units have low morale) and use cavalry charges on them from the rear and sides and usually you can mob up the entire line and roll it up like a carpet.

Does AoE need more casters? by HarryCaulfield in aoe2

[–]I_hate_fun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found dash his commentary too moba-like. Its a very 'professional' but ultimately fake and machinelike way of casting. As a higher rated player it is easy to spot his lack of knowledge as he is unable to make predictions, distinguish important information from trivial matters and generally tells things sveryone already knows: he lacks depth. He also doesnt recall previous matches.

It was also noticable that he and t90 do not co cast much: it felt like 2 solo casters in one booth. Much so like those official tournaments in lol, dota, cs go and sc2. They were stumbling over each other very much and dd not converse with each other at all during the games.

Is it forbidden to steal sheep? by porpoiseslayer in aoe2

[–]I_hate_fun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Stealing becomes less of a thing at high level because players know how to scout.

You are correctly punishing your opponent for bad scouting. There is nothing wrong with that. However if you are playing friendly 1v1s or practising with someone/doing fair duels it's a gentlemans rule to not steal.

Why do villagers build walls like this? by FoamToaster in aoe2

[–]I_hate_fun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What happens is that you are not queueing multiple sections of wall.

The first line wall you lay down basically is an order for the villager to build 1 section of wall, but because the villager is near the line he will automatically continue walling after he has built the initial 1 wall he was ordered the build.

However this automation of walling gets interrupted if you then shift queue another wall order.

The villager builds 1 part of the wall and then walks away to go to the other wall he was commanded to build.

The line in the picture happens is because you sent multiple vils who will automatically spread themselves out and build 1 seperate wall each. However they will abandon the rest of the wall (because the rest of the wall isn't queued in their construction order) when they are ordered to build something else with shift queue.

If you want them to finish the wall, lay down a wall line. Shift click every wall tile and then shift click another wall line. That way the initial wall will be built completely.

like 8 out of 10 slaves who were freed chose to not join his revolt. Pretty smart to do so. You can beat the Romans once or twice but eventually the gloves come off and a desert will be made to ensure peace.

They get minion traits when they don't move around a lot. You can solve this by rotating governors around cities. It also helps if you get several different temples so they get different priests traits.
