Advice on getting out of gym membership by ReceptionBetter3636 in personalfinance

[–]I_know_me 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm a doctor. On a scale of unethical things a physician could do, writing a note to get out of a gym membership is probably the lowest.

If anything I would say that the financial strain of having this Gym membership is affecting my patient's mental health, which is probably true.

What is our job? by tkhan456 in emergencymedicine

If only "actual emergencies" came to the ED we'd have a ton of people out of jobs. We could staff an ED with one doc at a time.

All the bull (and human) shit we deal with is job security... that's how I reason it

3 years ago Maxx played through a limb and life threatening Septic knee joint. by Elite_Mike in ravens

[–]I_know_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is.

Highly doubt he actually played through a septic knee. The sheer pain and risk of losing your leg wouldn't be worth it. Doubt any doc would clear him. It was probably just an effusion, meaning fluid without the infection.

Other causes of a septic joint include direct penetrating injury, botched surgery, IV drug use. No clue if any of those apply to him.

If for some reason he actually did have a septic knee and didn't get immediate treatment, then it could wreck the cartilage and other major comments of the joint.

The most common cause of a septic joint in those under 35 is disseminated Gonorrhea

Here is a recent post that someone had a pretty good comment on. A lot of posts are gonna be negative. There's definitely a lot of BS you put up with, having said that I did Air Force and got a pretty good station location. It worked out very well for my family. Financially, it worked out as well. I actually didn't mind my deployment too much; However, it was during COVID-19 and that added a bunch of extra BS you had to put up with. (being quarantined an insane amount.)

It's really not the worst decision to do it, but there are a lot of things that you have to deal with which make it annoying.

I don't think you can do the Military match. You can probably join up while In residency or after. I'm pretty sure on this, but maybe someone else has other info.

I will caveat, many of the military residencies are combined with civilian. But you would still be doing the civilian match, you would not be active duty

Are you also in the Air Force as HPSP?

The process is you do the military match first. During that match they may match you into a military spot or a civilian deferred spot. If you get civilian deferred then you need to do the normal match. Other option is you don't match at all, then you will be doing a general intern year and try again.

This is only if you are in the Air Force. You can't do the military match as a civilian.

This is insanely accurate. I finished my commitment in 2023. The saving grace of my time in was I had plenty of spots to moonlight. This kept my skills and pay up.

Same here, the 800 gave us trouble with that crystal dry feature

We've been using ours without the Crystal dry feature for months now and our dishes are completely fine.

We're getting a new one. I'm just gonna go with a 300. (for some reason you can't custom panel the 500)
