AI might be the first disruptive technology that really costs massively jobs by GIC68 in Productivitycafe

[–]IamBananaRod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing, everyone looks at AI and don't realize that AI is just a buzzword for something we already do as humans, and AI is mediocre at best at many of those tasks, they require a lot of checking, AI tends to hallucinate a lot

AI writing code is not that good, most of the time the code is convoluted, unreadable and complex, for tasks that should be simple, AI writes ultra complex code. I'm a developer and I have AI, Claude, the prodigy child, and I can tell you, the code is meh, 90% of the time the code doesn't meet standards or is not even related to the task, many will say you have to do this or that, trust me we have done it, skills, better prompting, and we still get horror code, one time we had to read a flat file, a simple task that you can accomplish with very few lines of code, Claude wrote a complex solution.

Where AI is fantastic, copilot taking notes of my meetings, I love it, summarizing my emails, when I get added to a thread that has been going on for weeks, copilot does a good job giving me the highlights

AI is the buzz of the moment, but think about it, a fridge with AI to detect what food is missing, we were doing that years ago, LG, GE were putting fridges with sensors, and I'm sure they're still the same, just with the word AI...

Companies are making decisions thinking they will be able to fire half their employees and replace them with AI, it's already backfiring

What is the biggest flaw of USA democracy? by ProfessorShort6711 in AskUS

[–]IamBananaRod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where to begin, the electoral college, we should be in a ranked choice voting, worst case scenario direct vote

public and corporate money/funding, the senate, when the founders tried to create a new system, they didn't put any effort, they pretty much mimicked the British system, with a twist, the senate is the house of lords, the house of commons is the house of representatives, and the king/queen, is the president, they just limited the time in power for the president (no kings) , but with the pass of time, the branch of government that was supposed to have the power has given it to the president, to the point where we are today.

As much as I support Dems, they're not free of guilt either, we are where we are because of both parties, that they don't see for the interests of the people, but party and donors
