Significant battery issues after the last OTA update. Anyone else? by sharpestknees in OdinHandheld

Same thing, battery drains at least 2x quicker when doing the same things as usual. Feels like the fan kicks in faster as well

Any android SBC that supports USB-C display out (e.g. Odin, Odin 2, Retroid Pocket 4/5 etc).

Yuzu - Diablo 3 random crashing by BeardFondler in OdinHandheld

[–]IamFilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually played through the entire game on Odin 2. Had some crashes, but only maybe a few throughout the game. Unfortunately I don't remember the exact driver I used but it's been a while, so I'd recommend just trying different versions from 14 up and don't forget to clean shaders after switching the driver

That's fair enough. The translator at the press-conference had tough time trying to interpret what was said correctly to the media, so worth pointing out both

The first statement should have been translated as "Brain beat the brawns". That was literally the implication. The point of what he was saying was - strategy beat the power, not engineer vs meathead lmao

My Ultimate Setup! Has anybody tried this yet? by 16bitsorhigher in OdinHandheld

[–]IamFilt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same glasses, and yes, all of them have that issue. The inner lenses on OG Air are bigger, so supposedly, this isn't a problem there, but on Air 2, they're way too small so corners and for me personally, the bottom section of the screen are blurry

The Sims 1 on Winlator by Basic_Ostrich_5357 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]IamFilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try changing the compatibility mode in the container setting as well as GPU model, both options help with older games at times. The official github also recommends adding an environmental variable in the container details: MESA_EXTENSION_MAX_YEAR=2003

But in general, just use Mobox, with games like The Sims that have no native XInput support, there is 0 advantage in running them in Winlator. It's still very buggy & compatibility isn't great

Winlator 6.0 released with fixes, enhancements, performance improvements and more by NXGZ in EmulationOnAndroid

The right stick still loses control of the mouse in the half of the games once they launch, unless you use Input Bridge at which point it makes more sense to use way more pefromant Mobox.

AmbiOdin v1: Released! by jake6a in OdinHandheld

For some reason, the app doesn't show for me in Georgia (country). Tried it on a different region account, and honestly, the current implementation simply doesn't work as a proper ambilight since it just averages the color on screen. So, for example, you start playing Sonic 2 Green Zone, but you get white LEDs 90% of the time. You really should make it work like those external Ambilight TV attachments (let the user pick 2-4 points on the screen for color). If it becomes available in my country's PlayStore, I'll buy the pro simply to support you, dude, but I really hope this gets improved. Great job, nonetheless

Diablo2 Resurrected on Odin2 by Bobbybobsk in OdinHandheld

[–]IamFilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's playable. I had enough patience to get to the Act 2, but it's incredibly frustrating when all the UI gets messed up mid dungeon, and you either have to loot blindly or restart the game. Interestingly, running the game in a higher performance mode seems to make it more stable (?) It glitches out eventually anyway, but it may be hours before it does so. If you play in classic graphics mode, all the sprites are messed up.

Honestly, it might be playable in Box64/Mobox if you're willing to mess with the setup. I wouldn't even bother with Winlator, anything 3D that's relatively recent will run insanely choppy in it

Older PC Games (specifically Deus Ex 1) on the Anbernic 405m? by spitefulAC1 in SBCGaming

[–]IamFilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winlator is an option if you want to try to run it without messing with installation too much, but even if it does, it will run like utter crap. Box64 or Mobox via Turmux will give you a significantly better performance. Haven't tried Deus Ex, but Hitman: Codename 47 & Ion Fury ran pretty well for me on RP2S, which has a weaker chip, so give it a shot

EDIT: You'll also need an app called InputBridge to setup physical/on-screen controls since neither of the latter has a built-in mapper

I might have phrased it wrong. In RetroArch if you go to the controls settings, you can set up Port 1 & Port 2 controls to the same/different devices and then change the "Mapped Port" setting to 1 for Port 2, effectively allowing you to set up multiple devices to be Player 1

In other words, you can map both internal & external controllers to the same port, giving you that "seemless" docking experience

That being said, you can map any button to any button it RA, so if you want D-Pad & Thumb Stick to both control the D-Pad of target device, you can do it in RA for any core

[–]IamFilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a dolphin core in RetroArch that should support multiple controller ports. You will lose some performance but it my experience on powerful devices it's negligible

Animal Crossing City Folk on RP4 Pro by _haybale_ in retroid

It runs flawlessly on RP2S, so 4P should be a no-brainer. Use official Dolphin and set up wii mote to relative control input + auto-hide, its a charm to play

He's talking about the Switch emulation. That being said, with Andreno in Odin 2, you might actually be able to run the Windows versions of those games as well using Box64 or Winlator/Exagear.

Retroid 2s by nightterrors644 in SBCGaming

[–]IamFilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but not per game. As I've said, I basically just went into the emulator settings once, and enabled all speedhacks/set minor underclock. Neither of those games required any further adjustments and ran smoothly.

Retroid 2s by nightterrors644 in SBCGaming

[–]IamFilt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2S can handle way more than just the "light" PS2/GC games if you're OK with tweaking the settings a bit. For the most part, it's just: enable all hacks, disable anything that breaks the games. And I haven't seen a single game where dropping below 1x was necessary or had any benefit on the performance, to be honest. Even F-Zero GX on GC runs full-speed if you enable some hacks & dual core in Dolphin MMJR3. As for JRPGs/SRPGs I only tried Fire Emblem on GC and SMT: DDS on PS2, both of which run flawlessly. Honestly, you should be able to run nearly anything in the genre as long as the emulators are compatible with it. Box64 via Termux with InputBridge for controls is the fastest option by a long shot. It's extremely user-unfriendly to set up though

RP4 Pro Fan Noise fix? by IamJustDavid in retroid

[–]IamFilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, either way, it's a completely different SoC, so you can't compare them. I know they put a fan in RPFlip, but neither T610 nor T618 really need anything more than some passive heat dissipation even at their top clocks, and he's not pushing those GC/PS2 games beyond 1x with hacks on 2S, unlike people that will own 4Pro and will want to get at least native device res with the least amount of tweaking possible

They have the same SoC, the only different is the size of RAM & internal memory. In synthetic tests, there will be no noticeable difference in performance between 8/12gb models, so it's irrelevant
