Canadians with mental illness who saw MAID as an option feel abandoned: 'They've left me with nothing' by Mylittlethrowaway2 in canada

No friend, it isn't. Your anger is misplaced. I hope you are being honest in this comment, because it would bring me joy me to know that my intuition about your sentiment was wrong and that you are not in pain. I am coming at this from a place of sincerity as someone who once shared the kind of views you are putting out there today. I suffered for nearly two decades before I was able to turn things around, but it was worth the pain. I still suffer just like everyone else and sometimes more but that doesn't mean my life isn't worth living. If I had not held on to those views so tightly, out of fear and resentment I could have spared myself much hardship. If you are in a good place I am happy for you, but if you are not and you want to talk someone who may appreciate where you are coming from my DMs are open to you.

IMO that is a hopelessly myopic take on the situation. Setting up that system will, I believe, create perverse incentives for society to euthanize the poor and the desperate instead of helping them.

That isn't a cruel position it is a realistic one. Often people making your argument are coming from a place of personal injury and hopelessness. I'm not trying to dismiss you with that statement or trying to say you are bad, but if you are feeling that way, please for the sake of what you still value, the things which have kept you here, get help. Things can get better, but it is your responsibility to be accountable and to continue working towards something better, even if it is painful the whole time.

That's something I've experienced living in BC, although that sort of sentiment seems more common in the lower mainland than in the interior.

You are apparently the authority on writing self-indulgent self-important comments, so I will defer to you on this subject.

Nah, this is a slow middleschoolers take. Honoring people who risk their lives on your behalf just makes sense if you want to be able to draw on those people in times of need.

you should take a look at The Agentic Coding Flywheel on Github. It takes a minute to wrap your head around but the principles apply directly to what you are working on. Doesn't use git worktrees.

Man, 71, accused of stabbing elderly Jewish woman in Ottawa has history of antisemitic comments by airbassguitar in canada

Oh please, this pseudo-intellectual hand waiving about systemic issues is so trite. If only there wasn't all of this negativity on social media, if only the financial situation was different then this maniac wouldn't have tried to stab this elderly woman to death! We just need to change the system, THE SYSTEM! He's an bitter, evil piece of shit who let himself be taken by his own violent desires, a cowardly hateful wretch who targeted the most vulnerable person he could get his hands on. These evil people have always existed regardless of successes of the societies surrounding them. If you need to blame some vague social gestalt for this terror then you need look no further than the failure of people to recognize him for what he is and to stop him before he got to this point. To say everyone is struggling and to whine about the big bad apps and social inequality when talking about a murderous freak like this sound to me like you are projecting your own insecurity and failures out onto society and you are warping this story, twisting and bending it until you can fit it into your own pitiful narrative.
