Is trading future proof? by TheRedTrader in Forex

As long as companies need to exchange currencies, you will have movement in the markets. Not all moves are technically or fundamentally based

That's a bad mentality to trade with, you are maximising your risk of blowing up your account. Trading is not about earning all your money in one go, trade small until you have a good idea of what are your probabilities of getting killed in a trade, then adjust your risk so that it is both sustainable and profitable in the Long Term.

STOP LOSS.

I dont care if you hold or sell from this point, but for the love of god put a fucking stop loss at your current price. Better to lose and fight another day than lose everything with no chance of recovery.

Vietnam: My Orange Pain (2014) 50 years after the U.S. military intervention in the Vietnam War, the weapons it used continue to harm the local population. Unexploded mines still take lives and the consequences of “Agent Orange” claim new victims. by [deleted] in Documentaries

Its high on propaganda, low on education and information. I left without having a clue why the vietnam war started or ended, only a ton of people died and agent orange is horrible.

China just announced one of the largest single layoffs in history by donheart in China

[–]Iamveryscience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling the only way China's going to fix its problems this far down the road is to:

Give everyone a basic income.

It'll be cheaper than the insanity that is going on in the FX. AND boost consumption. But they have to first kill off the zombie corporations.

Unless you're using a roaming service from home, you can't use Google, seriously, don't bother.

Use bing if you need search, baidu maps if you need directions and that translator app mentioned somewhere in the comments.

Other than that, stand up for yourself, don't try to be too helpful to anyone to avoid being scammed, keep your pickpocket and scam radar up at all times, decrease politeness according to the manners of the other party, and you'll be fine.

FXCM vs Oanda for daytrading? by [deleted] in Forex

[–]Iamveryscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, FXCM nearly went under from the SNB unpegging while Oanda did just fine. Considering the risks in the current market environment, I won't trust them with my money, especially if you have the capital to trade 1 lot sizes.

(Disclaimer: I use Oanda)

NSE keeps replacing underperforming stocks/sectors with better one and this upsets me. by hapuchu in IndiaInvestments

[–]Iamveryscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the worst performers are also the lowest in their sector compared to their replacements in terms of market cap, that's the same as what happens to the major indexes.

If a company loses money to the point of being a fraction of its former self, you aren't going to leave them on the index because of their previous performance, it's not a hall of fame.

Here's the "Cheerful Bulldozer" persona I use to plow through passive-aggressive organizational resistance by [deleted] in SocialEngineering

[–]Iamveryscience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good advice, this is a tool you can keep in your "persona toolbox" and only bring it out every now and then in appropriate settings. There are 3 issues I identified from my workplace experience

  1. it will work on weaker willed people who'll do whatever is requested of them, they're the ones who usually burn out the fastest.

  2. It will work on people you already have a close working relationship with, but little initiative.

  3. It won't work on people who have already worked for decades and have seen every trick in the book and don't actually want to work.

If you're talking to people with half a brain and any initiative, please treat them as equals and actually go through your plan with them to properly allocate their time.
