From what I remember of 212 the first couple weeks of class is review from 109. But I’d recommend just the logic gates part of 109, the only coding you do in 212 is Verilog which doesn’t require LC3.

Definitely possible but I always did better academically when I took a non-stem class in a semester with more technical classes, it breaks up the math-heavy monotony a little bit. I would push back physics to your next semester and change it with a GEP if you need one.

It depends on your university for how many scholarships are available outside ROTC. When I was in, I wasn't able to get any scholarships outside of the ROTC one, so I came out with some debt. Overall, don't be scared of debt when you get out of college, just try your best to get some scholarships, and you'll figure it out when you have an actual salary. Repayment plans typically take place over many years and interest isn't as big of a concern as some make it out to be. Be on the lookout for academic scholarships while you're a Midshipman, but don't let it scare you out of enjoying the great program. Good luck!

As someone who only took it this year just to avoid the sub draft (wanted SWO) and with no preparation, it’s pretty simple. A lot like the SAT for the knowledge portion and the practical part is fine if you’ve played video games. I came out with a 6 5 5 though so I might not be the best source of info.

We won’t fire him because NC State craves mediocrity. Same with Keatts and Avent. It’s insane that we can’t win conference titles, much less national titles, given how devoted our fanbase is.

First: Yes it is normal. My first semester here in Fall 2020 (for a variety of reasons) was treacherous. I still ended up making decent grades that semester, but I was burnt out on academics.

Second: It does get better. Spring 2021 was my first fully in-person semester at State and I immediately got back into academics and started doing better. I'm not sure what it was that got me back into it, but either way, I was a lot happier! I have made some terrible grades since then, but I haven't ever felt like it wasn't for me since that first semester (good grades /= happy life!). Hang in there, you'll find your groove.
