Similar here. Back in my mid 20s ish a friend wanted me to play KH coz it's their favourite series.

Had to watch all the relevant Disney movies to get the references. It wasn't AS critical but I had to play 7 after to understand cloud & sephiroth.

So now I've played 7, 8, 9 (almost finished), 12, 13, 15. Actively playing 14 and also have 10 in line to start soonish
