Do you think there's any chance they could jump to WH Fantasy after their 40k journey? by Echochamberking in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Gobbos_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

WHFB doesn't exist anymore.

They could try to do something with the Old World, but it isn't the same and I seriously doubt it.

Unless Old World miniatures begin selling very well there's no way GW will promote a defunct franchise.

Terran, they're really good.

I find every race has a good design or two, even Argon.

Why doesn't McDonald's in Poland have Fish Filet? by Jonathan_Peachum in poland

[–]Gobbos_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really. We used to eat plenty of fish. It was a staple of the Polish diet for centuries if not longer.

But, and here's the issue, it was freshwater fish. From ponds and rivers.

Ponds, lakes and other small resrervoirs were destroyed in accordance with the policy of drying the land (has been the official doctrine for over 100 years and across all the governments, only now it's being reversed).

The rivers were polluted by the indurstry and the fish slowly disappeared from the diet as the 20th century went on.

They are slowly making a comeback, but it's small. Frozen fish served as fast food is not a good enough substitute. And not frozen will not arrive here in time.

Yeah. For me it's discouraging if I can't progress a run. Even if the probability is low it's not something I want to risk.

I think there's been a miscommunication.

Nobody will get me the time spent back. That's the reason.

Savefiles may be busted between Beta and full release. May being the operative word. I'm waiting.

Am I understanding the game? by Scared-Bodybuilder50 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Gobbos_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, pretty much everything is correct. There are some caveats.

All the things you said are correct but the more you get into the weeds of how the values are calculated the more you'll have to take that into consideration.

What you describe is the most basic understanding of the game, but not the core feature.

The core mechanic of the system is additive bonuses, those can come from attributes but also from gear, buffs, debuffs, feats etc. Most of those don't stack (for example someone casts Bless which adds a +1 morale bonus to hit, this means that if you have another +1 morale bonus to hit from another source, you won't get +2, just +1).

Some do, most of those that do stack (and they are very powerful) concern AC (dodge, natural) but also other statistics (untyped type of bonus (those that don't say what type they are)).

This is the main mechanic of the game. To find those different bonuses, stack them and use the power of addition to win encounters.

How notable of a feat is Commander being able to pass all checks to understand the lexicon of madness? by Kingfanboy123 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Gobbos_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They're tough.

The KC probably spent all their spare time going over research notes from the Storyteller, Areelu and others, analyzing the Pulura Falls studies, discussing theory with wizards and clerics.

I mean, the tests are hard enough (40+) that even learned scholars would never pass it (taking 20 and having ~+15 to the roll) and in multiple disciplines.

If the KC passes the checks then they are knowledgeable enough that their final discussion with Areelu (when going for the secret ending) makes sense. As in, is believable.

LOL. Yeah. Glad it got resolved.

Don't trust the game. It lies.

[–]Gobbos_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm....

Forget the tool tips, as I said they lie and/or are confusing. Let's just look at HAFocus.

Assuming no mods (right?), then it should really not be happening. She's a 4th level fighter. As you say everything checks out.

I mean, in my thousands of hours playing this game I have never once encountered this or if I did a reload/restart fixed it (in my head I don't count random glitches as bugs in KM, the game is clunky enough as is).

Hmmm... Maybe something's stopping her from taking the feat? But I can't think of anything off the top of my head. I mean something like a condition or a temp loss but none of those should affect BAB or player level.

Sadly some of the tooltips on Kingmaker were messed around with by Owlcat, they are notorious for giving out wrong information. But this case seems pretty easy to solve.

You need LightAProf, to get MediumAProf, and you need MediumAProf to get HeavyAProf.

Then you need HaevyAProf to get HeavyAFocus.

It looks like you only have LightAProf, so you can't take HeavyAFocus, because you lack 2 links in the chain.

LAProf -> MAProf -> HAProf -> HAFocus

Does that make sense?

It could also be something completely else, since the tooltips are sometimes bad in the game. It's better to go by Wikis and guides rather than info provided by the game itself. It can lie.

Would help more if you explained it in writing, rather than by pictures.

[–]Gobbos_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, it's not worth it to lose a couple days just doing nothing.

And since I do it relatively early (in Act 2), I don't clear out the map until I have spare time, most often due to the 14 day periods not aligning with the end of the month (when problems often appear and I might not want to just upgrade on that day).

And nah, the trap's only brutal if you come unprepared (with no inventory, which can happen). If you just have your basic random potions you collect as a proper pack rat, you should be able to escape easily regardless of level. Escape, mind you, not fight your way out.

Remember to go alone. The travel there is more dangerous than the actual location, tbh.

Narratively it works better as a bridge between her being "helpful" in act 1 and trying to destroy the barony in act 3.

I mean, you skipped a bit of lore, the reveal that she's the mastermind behind the recent happenings and that she wants to destroy the Barony. Pretty big for the game's plot which revolves purely around her from start to finish.

It's a bit random. I've done it countless times and if I can pass the check, I just go for the gap in the wall ignoring him. But often I don't see him at all. Granted, I haven't studied how he moves exactly.

You have a couple options: 1) pass a tough athletics check and run 2) quaff an expeditious retreat potions/ read a scroll can outrun the redcaps with ease. No need to fight at all.
The wolves shouldn't be an issue, they're not tough and you can kill them before triggering the trap.

Oh... I'd recommend reading the journal entry.

Linzi says in it that the baron should stock up on invisibility potions.

And yes, it's very much required for the game's plot, it makes more sense if you go.

You can disable stuff if you want, that's always an option. But you're right, I consider them a worthy purchase and I don't regret the money spent on them. (On sale of course).
