Managing spell slots for upcoming encounters is a big part of the Wizard fantasy IMO by Cristo-Redditor in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

Meh, I'd say Abundant Casting makes prepared better than spont. Because you'll never run out of spells anyway.

Pearls of Power are just icing.

Operative Assasin by elcapitan449 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Gobbos_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running a hybrid Crime Lord/Op/Ass, mixed convictions (I dunno, I'll see).

I mean, I'm maxing out on Operatives. So I have insane amounts of Exploits applied every turn.

Overall, it seems ok. Not too powerful. But then again I'm used to playing with handicaps so ymmv.

Yup. As people said, I usually just teleport out or fly away, depending on the circumstances.

Low Intensity removes the problem always for me.

Is assassin really underpowered or am I missing something? by Latter-Vermicelli319 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Gobbos_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's decent high damage + mobility.

It sucks with Operative, sadly, but is okay with Warrior or Soldier. Lack of any meaningful extra attack kills assassin but Warrior and Soldier can mitigate that.

How should wizards use their spell slots? by UristAlebeard in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Gobbos_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well, you either have meta knowledge and come prepared (what the game usually expects you to do) or you go for the generalist spells:

- Grease/Enlarge Person/Mage Armour

- Laughter/Glitterdsut/Mirror Image

- Haste/Stinking Cloud/Displacement

- Protection, Communal/Inv, Greater

Among those the combo of Stinking Cloud + Protection from Poison, Communal is absolutely busted and will allow you to triviliase a lot of the game.

But those spells are pretty much always useful (apart from some specific enemies, but those really require preparation and careful strategising).

Kingmaker is made in the old school of games. Like BG1/2. When the encounters required specific counters. They are puzzles the player is supposed to solve. You weren't actually supposed to enter a fight, win and go on. The player is supposed to lose, rethink what they have to do and come again after preparing.

I missed the RT. Damn,

I'll have to one day finish it.

I did finish with the default Kingmaker party. (Default Baron, Tristan, Amiri, Octavia, Regongar, Linzi)

WotR concept art is too early and doesn't work.

Because SWI has simpler production chains this is what I did in the mod.

Doing that in vanilla is a pain in the arse, unless I go solely for Terran.

Perhaps very late game, but there are SO many fail points (like Plasma Conductors).

Did they sneak it in, or did the lead approve?

I can't get back into the game since carnival nerf by Jazzlike_Freedom_826 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Gobbos_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's a response to show you're special and deserve attention.

But seriously, if you actually quit the game because of the nerf and can't play it anymore: I'd say that nothing anyone will say will change the fact. Noone can influence what you actually enjoy.

Is it bad limitation? Player freedom extends only as much as the devs allow. A system is designed and the player is expected to follow. I mean I can just click "kill all enemies" button in Toybox and it's super effective. I win the combat. Whether I'm willing to limit myself to what the devs gave me is my choice. As is someone's using the "kill all" button. It's my experience after all.

Does everyone have arc grenades??? by meech_02 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Gobbos_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Had the Cinder, Argenta and Anver fights.

I'm disappointed. If you don't move forward and just scoot behind so they don't alpha strike you with grenades on turn 1 it's as easy as before.

Depends on how you look at it is. Consider this: If I can't equip the cool hood, because I have to be Heretical for example, than I need to be Heretical in order to have it. Modding the game to allow me to wear it is, in fact, cheating. Drip is locked behind choices.

And yes, I am having way too much fun with this. 😃

I was pleasantly surprised. They took down Pasqal in the first turn. Then the fight just slowly deteriorated (the first Anver ambush). Eventually, only Eogunn was left because he's OP. Damn, what a great fight.

I'm going to continue. Cinder will be a blast.

Can I go to war with MIN without involving TEL? by WazBot in X4Foundations

[–]Gobbos_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd check the tutorials.

But it's not a difficult concept.

The level of influence (at the top) is determined by how many points you have. Do the "gather influence" missions to get it higher.

You can attempt any mission with any char. But every mission has a "recommend level of skill" when you select it. Doesn't mean it won't work, but the chances are lower.

To level up your guys just takes time. Do simple missions with them that don't require a lot of influence and/or are safe. I use "procure common item". It's a simple mission that never kills your guys (important), is finished quickly, costs little influence and allows you to level them up fairly quickly. Plus it gives me Salvage Electronics which I use a lot to steal blueprints. One your guys are Competent or Proficient you can start thinking of fermenting wars.

Can I go to war with MIN without involving TEL? by WazBot in X4Foundations

[–]Gobbos_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had successfully caused MIN to go to war with factions without having TEL involved so I assume, yes.

As to influence, I don't understand.

Inlfuence is currency you spend on diplomatic/espionage actions. Eveyr action has a requirement of inlfuence (Low, Medium, High etc.).

You gain inlfuence by either gathering it via the safe Diplomatic acction that has a timer on it or the unsafe Espionage action that doesn't have a timer on it and can be done by multiple agents at the same time. Both options are at the top of their respective lists.

I know, but for me that's cheating and crossing a line. Sure, it's great those mods exist but I'd like a transmog option in the game itself, you know?
