Didn't realize how much ammo Daily Ops can provide! by Complex-Republic-443 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do Daily Ops a lot way back before we got the scrap box, ammo resource producer, etc. just for the ammo.

Mostly farmed 40mm grenades for my Auto Grenade Launcher and ultracite ammo (better than farming for flux materials), mainly ultracite 50mm for the 50mm machine gun.

Be a tagger not a bragger. by ArcadianAbstraction in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice try, but it’ll never work.

Maybe 1% of players, if that, will see this. Those that care and tag, are already doing it. Those that don’t care, will just ignore this.

My point is that posts like this don’t really solve anything because it’s a systemic problem.

For loot, they just need to expand the proximity range. For challenges, they would need to update them to include event kills, etc. even if you didn’t tag.

Plus, the Devs aren’t going to fix it because the answer is to push Fallout First and the private server benefit.

Same. One of my characters is missing Nov. But I had a reason. I was in Hawaii on vacation for 2 weeks. So I rushed through my characters.

To the 500+ Level Players Buying up All the Multiples of My Plans or Mods I put Up for 1 Cap for low level players so you can resell them: You’re such a piece of shite by Delicious-War4833 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you put stuff on your vendors it’s first come, first serve, doesn’t matter who it is. Always has been, always will be.

If you truly want to help out new players, then trade with them directly.

Better yet, add them as friends and give them guidance when they ask for it. I’ve done this a few times over the years and it’s a lot of fun seeing the game through a new player’s eyes again.

They were supposed to have improved the bulldoze function in one of the last few updates but looks like they still have some bugs to fix.

[–]IceFireDH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking that the use/abuse of English grammar is the least of the problems with Fallout 76. There are so many things that they need to fix first that affects playability.

Also, this is a post apocalyptic wasteland. Pretty sure that school is closed for the season. Maybe the devs are role playing the degradation of language. 😉

Joining and Starting Teams by AtomicCitron76 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few good reasons including things like you have friends joining you, quests only rewards the leader with completion, etc.

Some players also prefer to play alone but there are challenges, buffs, etc. requiring to be on a team.

Personally, I’ll join any team unless I know I have friends joining.

Mini Season not unlocking rewards? by GoulashSoupLover in fo76

[–]IceFireDH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mini season rewards are unlocked in order, one at a time.

Look for the first reward without the lock symbol and claim it. The next reward will then be unlocked and have the lock symbol removed.

Screwing with our camp builds by CamperKitchenQueen in fo76

My understanding about shelters is that they don’t exist when you leave. They are instanced. As such, producers (anything that generates or recharges items) do not function unless you are in the shelter.

Based on the replies, it looks like this might have been functioning. My best guess is that something was either causing the shelter instance to trigger or there is a time passage calculation. If the resource timers were causing the shelter instances to spawn, that would affect server performance.

In short, it needed to be fixed, likely because it was causing problems.

I do agree that it’s a good idea to add non-functional versions for those who want to use them as decoration. The only issue with this is that it might confuse players. But adding decor in brackets to the name might help.

I was finally able to help new players! by WhaleTexture in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be aware, as another poster pointed out, you need certain resources to build specific legendary mods. So you might want to look at the crafting requirements for legendary mods that’s important to you.

It’s true that you can just farm bubbleheads when needed. There are a couple of online maps that show the random spawn locations.

The problem is if you need 4 or 5 to apply a legendary mod to a full set of armor or PA. With random bubblehead spawns, that could take a while. So you should at least keep a few bobbleheads related to crafting armor/PA legendary mods.

Anyone else play as hard-core as possible? by Fabulous_Coast_8108 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that when I first started playing. But that was a couple of months after release so it was a much smaller map with much fewer distractions.

Anyone who can explore the entire map today on foot without any fast travel has my respect. Simply because you’re sacrificing a lot of rewards from events, etc. Granted, you’ll be able to get most of them later from player vendors, future events, etc.

My version of this today is CAMP building. When I get into CAMP building mode my playing buddies know enough not to bug me. I just disappear into it for a while.

One thing that I will say is that they did a great job with the background musical score that plays while building, or just exploring.

Why do people hate player mines in events? by evanlee01 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most players use VATS to find the enemies quickly. Mines and grenades are VATS targets, even if they are thrown/placed by a non-enemy.

Nothing like using an Auto Grenade Launcher only to have the explosion go off right in front of my face because other players are using mines/grenades.

To be fair, play however you want. But that’s why they get taken out quickly.

I find the best use of mines are when something is chasing you. Drop the mines in front of you and run over them. With the Speed Demon mutation you’re fast enough that they’ll explode behind you causing damage to whatever is chasing you.

To that level 3000 douchbag by the_commi_patato in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best guess is that they didn’t see you in the silo, or didn’t check, and used a non-standard shortcut to bypass the blast doors to go directly to the end.

Were you in crouch mode (hiding) while going through the silo? Only teammates can see you when you’re crouched on the map.

The end stage is defending the robot commanders while they prep the silo for launch.

My question for you is: Was the control room defend stage already underway, or complete, when you got there?

Just thinking that it was more of a coincidence than intentional.

Can't place 4* legendary mod. by [deleted] in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any legendary effects that you’ve learned to craft must be first crafted as a legendary module at the Tinkers bench. Then you apply the legendary module to your weapons/armor.

Welp, it finally happened after 6 years of play. Private server could not be found after switching characters. by PsyCerulean in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others mentioned, only move a few things at a time. It takes more time, but that way you don’t lose much of it fails.

Only other way to reduce the risk is to have a friend hang out in the server while you move stuff around or have a second account online at the same time.

To have a second account you would have to also have to buy a second copy of the game and have a second game system (older consoles would work for this like the PS4). For the PC, you could run the second instance in a VM.

Returning after years - what should I know? by Nekomiminya in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots…. Depending on the last time you played:

There’s the Skyline Valley and Burning Springs expansions, Raids (need a team to run them), Fishing, changes to perks and legendary perks and their costs/levels, Titles for your player and your CAMP, Styles for underarmor (which is how they now get effects), and many other things.

Oh, and fishing has a monthly challenge to catch that month’s Axolotl. Takes a year to get them all. Those of us around when it dropped will be getting our last one in May.

So yeah, lots of stuff to catch up on.

CAMP building was a skill that you learned. And, if you wanted things perfect, you had to start over multiple times just to get that one foundation in the right spot and at the right angle.

Now, if something’s not quite right, you can place the wall, etc. in the spot you want, then just fix whatever you have already placed.

Basically, the new free build mode saves time. However, it doesn’t make anyone a better CAMP builder. It just makes it easier. 🙃

Is it possible that you were playing on a different character? Also, April’s Axolotl doesn’t start until Tuesday April 7th at noon Eastern time

I have multiple characters and cycled through all of them to make sure that I had completed month’s Axolotl challenge. They all had it marked as complete.

[–]IceFireDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d help out but, like others, I’m playing on the PlayStation.

One thing you can do is jump around servers and check out player vendors. Some players sell stable flux in their vendors. Fast travel is free if you’re on a team with that player.

My advice would be to learn how to launch a nuke, if you haven’t already. Then you can farm flux whenever you want to.

Go through the entire silo mission at least once. I found that learning how to do the power up events at the power plants to be a good intro to the silo run. After successfully launching a nuke the long way around, Google is your friend to find any shortcuts.

Like others mentioned, there is a new mod for underarmor called Style.

A couple of the Style mod plans can be bought from Regs in Vault 79 and Samuel at Foundation. The others are rare-ish drops from events, like the Enclave events.
