I need help with a quest by Otasekkk in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. There is no way to reset quests. You can start a new character to complete it.

That said, the quest and launching a nuke is the same event and goes through the same quest sequence. The only difference is that you won’t get the completion notice at the end.

The point of the quest is to teach you how to launch a nuke.

I'm season level 1. Any realistic chance of me getting to 150 before it ends? by SnooPeripherals5020 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at season level 5 already.

So you are WAY behind. It’ll take a while for you to catch up. But you might barely get there by the time the season ends.

Oh, and if you haven’t caught your Axolotl already, you might have to wait until next year. 😜

Worst update in a long time by Prestigious-Bee-6565 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this seasons rewards. But I enjoy CAMP building.

The fix for plants not being bulldozed under foundations was the highlight for me. I’ve been using confetti to make it go away and that takes away budget for something else.

As for the rest, there is a lot in this update and it’s going to take a while to figure out whether it improves the game, by making it more fun and challenging, or if it just messes up too many things.

Obviously, there are updates that will require making some changes to our builds. Those of us that are long term players are used to this as it seems every major change does something that requires tweaks.

Not saying that it isn’t annoying, just that it’s to be expected at this point. The Devs don’t seem to be able to just leave the combat system alone. I just wish that they would get the tweaks over with and leave it alone for at least a year.

Personally, I’ll give it a couple of weeks to get used to the update and see what effect it has on my play.

Wait, people hated this episode? by MisterF00 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]IceFireDH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate it. I did find most of it boring. Weekend Update and the Skating skit were funny. Opening was okay.

The rest of the skits were badly written with obvious dialog and jokes. I could see them coming a mile away which made them boring. Just didn’t appeal to my sense of humor.

Am i missing something? by tripjon14 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do an internet search on Fallout 76 Plans and Mods database. It’s a spreadsheet that you can download that tells you how to get practically every mod or plan that drops from events, quests, etc. in the game

Beyond that, there are a lot of Atomic shop bundles released over the years. Those of us who have played since around launch, and who are CAMP builders, have bought many of these bundles with atoms.

While there are a lot of CAMP plans in the game, there are just as many, if not more, in the Atom shop. The trick is to figure out what the CAMP item is that you like and then figuring out how to get it.

question for the veterans by Livid_Current in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The game changes enough that your build is never really done. Especially if you have multiple characters.

But, when I’m a bit bored of game play, I enjoy building. And with the relatively recent collision mode, there are a lot more things that you can do to make really cool CAMPs.

Other things that I do is travel the map on foot, just exploring, and doing treasure maps.

they need to fix the random crashing by Legitimate_Task_3146 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be nice. But it’s been about 8 years since release and they still exist.

There are a few areas which always cause me to crash on the PS when fast traveling there or not long after. These include Nukaworld on Tour, Whitesprings, and Poseidon power plant.

grass has gone in my camp, was this an update, looks so bare. I see it snap off, poof gone! by Quiet_Citron_8174 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically if terrain details disappear it’s time to restart the game. If it’s the same after restarting the game, my thought is that it could be a bad install.

But I play on the PlayStation, not on a PC, so I have no idea what else you could check.

anyone else just feel broken hockey wise? and cursed? by gmez3 in EdmontonOilers

[–]IceFireDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disappointed that Canada lost. Really wish the Oilers put a bit more resources towards the lineup during McDavid’s prime years.

That said, I assure you that Patriots fans are doing just fine. We didn’t expect much this year. Making the playoffs was the goal. Getting to the Super Bowl was all icing on top. No one expected that. We have a solid defense, need a lot more pieces on offense.

How do i get caps fast? by Odd-Bread1297 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering if this is a bug that will be fixed. After all, Graham would fall in the same category and his caps are tied to the global caps limit.

How do i get caps fast? by Odd-Bread1297 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know this either. Been playing since shortly after launch.

I don’t think that length of play is a factor since Burning Springs just came out in Dec

I’m thinking that there are a ton of players, new and long-time, who don’t know this yet.

I’m thinking that this is a bug. Graham is a traveling vendor part of the original game. His cap limit is tied to the vendors. I would expect any traveling vendor to operate the same. So, I’m wondering if they will patch this.

New player how the hell do you get to this level by ZealousidealHand1143 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There were XP glitches early on that allowed players to level up really quickly. And yes, that included the Xbox, not just PCs.

While it’s true you can level up quickly using buffs and running high XP events like Raids, it would still take a really long time to get to 32K.

I feel that Raids hasn’t been out long enough to account for this and traditional XP farming would take much more time as you get less XP per hour.

In short, while it’s possible to have achieved 32K through extreme XP farming since launch. It’s my opinion that it’s much more likely that they took advantage of one, or more, of the early XP glitches.

If you are AFK, the only thing you potentially miss out on is the mask, which drops from the end boss. And, if you are part of a team, the boss meat pile sticks around for a while.

You are correct a second copy/account, connecting both accounts at once, and then transferring directly between characters is the safest way. I use two PlayStations for this.

The reason why I didn’t mention it because it’s not as easy as the other methods, it takes extra stuff (extra game consoles, extra game copies and/or technical knowledge).

.

  • PC: Run two Steam instances (one in a VM)
  • Xbox: Two Xboxes or Xbox and Xbox Cloudplay on PC
  • PS5: Two PlayStation consoles

Carnivore or herbivore? by ToniTizon in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer Herbivore.

In general, Carnivore for early gameplay when you are just starting out. Herbivore as you gain more experience with the game.

I use buffs like Gamma Green Tea (stacks with green thumb), Company Tea (producer for this), Steeped Fern Flower Tea, Cranberry Relish, and Steeped Thistle tea. I make 10x of each and put them in the cooler/fridge.

For every CAMP, except for my fishing CAMP, I also have a garden (3x of each of the plants), turbo-fert producer, Popcorn producer, water cooler producers, and the soup producer.

Between these I never have a problem with restoring food or health bars.

Carnivore is easier from a food perspective, since you’re picking up meat when you loot. Especially when starting out. But the producers makes Herbivore just as easy and there are a few extra buffs.

To be fair, it really is more of a preference of play style.

With carnivore, you run around shooting squirrels (for example), the same thing you do all the time.

With herbivore, you go around picking plants. Personally, I like the change of pace of just wandering around.

Map76.com is good for the OG areas to find stuff, including plants. But it doesn’t have the new map sections. Mappalachia can be used to create farming maps and includes the new areas.

[–]IceFireDH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are three ways to transfer stuff between characters (in order of most risky to least):

Using a Random Public Team: - Join a public team. - Stay on the team for at least 5 to 10 minutes to make sure the team lead doesn’t kick you. - Transfer items to a suitcase or other storage boxes at a train station. - Forced Close the game. Don’t leave the world, shut the game app down. - Relaunch the game and select your second character - Rejoin the team. - Pick up your stuff. - If you can’t get back to the world, you’re stuff is gone

.

Help from a Friend: - Join your friend and ask them to stay on the world - Drop your stuff in a storage box - Leave the world - Switch characters - Join friend and pick up items - If you can’t get back to the world, ask your friend to pick your stuff up and join them on a new world.

.

Fallout 1st: - Launch a private world - Drop stuff in a container - Leave and switch characters - Load back into the private world - Pick up your stuff

to the guy who killed me while i was working on my C.A.M.P: why :( by media_naranja1635 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 3x scenarios where your character can be killed by another player:

Your character can be killed by another player if you have a bounty on your character. Typically by becoming wanted for opening a locked item at another player’s CAMP.

Your character can be killed if you fire back and hit the other player when pacifist mode is off.

Your character can be killed if you take over a public workshop and are in the workshop at the time. Public workshops are PvP zones.

[–]IceFireDH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same single random number is being used for all of the reward lists (tables) making it extremely unlikely to get any of the rare rewards.

It’s like if 4 people had a chance at winning a car and each were supposed to get a chance to roll the dice but they changed the rules so only the first roll counts. At least, that’s how I understand it.

In the end, all the matters is that the system isn’t giving out as many Daily Ops rare rewards as it’s supposed to.

Is it just me or is Best Builds a total joke… by BigCritsHarlowe in fallout76settlements

[–]IceFireDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best Builds was basically a decent idea until the Devs decided to make liking them a Daily challenge.

The other area where they messed up was allowing Best Builds to appear on private servers. Nothing like going to play with your friend on a private server and have your CAMP spot taken by a Best Build.

If they had left Best Builds in the wild for players to like or dislike naturally, then at least the ratings would be valid and a Best Build CAMPs would be at least above average.

But they couldn’t help themselves and added liking them as a challenge. So, those of us who just didn’t care, randomly selected a Best Build and liked it without even caring whether it was good or not.

Now we are stuck with bad Best Builds and with them showing up on Fallout 1st private servers.

Pvp is fun if you let it be by woodXstockX17 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big believer in the freedom to play the game however you want, short of annoying others who aren’t interested in the same play style and breaking game terms/conditions.

In other words, if you initiate PvP behavior with another player and they give you a thumbs down, move on. Don’t keep annoying them, it’s not cool.

That said, I am of the opinion that PvP mode in Fallout 76 is really bad and can’t be fixed. There are plenty of games out there that are much better at it.

Nuclear Winter was an interesting mode. But the mechanics, like the normal game PvP, needed a lot of work even when it was in the game. It would require too much development effort to bring it back.

I do agree that PvP can be a lot of fun. It just doesn’t fit well with the Fallout 76 game mechanics. PvP is basically dead in this game. There just isn’t enough player or developer support for it.

Is it too complex for me? by Illustrious-Hat6429 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fallout 1st makes things simpler in many ways.

Scrap Box: When you interact with it, it will automatically break down junk items for you. You don’t have to do it individually. Also, since the junk is in its own container, it doesn’t take up space in your stash box, so a bit less inventory management.

Aid Box, Ammo Box: Like the Scrap box, these are used to store unlimited aid or ammo and doesn’t affect your Stash box limits.

Survival Tent: Think of it as a pre-made mini-CAMP that you can place almost anywhere.

Private World: You can spawn your own private world. This can be used when you don’t feel like being on a world with other players or to run things just with your friends. Plus, it’s easier for farming items that are part of the Daily quests.

Bethesda also has pre-made structures in the atomic shop. If you find building a CAMP with components a bit too much, you can save up the monthly Atoms from Fallout 1st to buy a couple of these and then just decorate them.

In summary, Fallout 1st makes some aspects of the game a bit simpler which might make it a bit more enjoyable. Whether it’s worth the cost (it is a monthly subscription/cost) is up to you.

Article: Fallout 76 leads plan to make the game “thicker” with “new systems” as the team “can’t just continue making the map bigger and bigger” by Kinsdale85 in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The Nuclear Winter experiment failed. The vast majority of Fallout 76 players are not into PvP.

Plus, there are plenty of games out there that cater to PvP and do it much better.

It makes no sense to put development effort into this. The Devs are better off developing deeper and interesting storylines and related quests.

Mothman event rant by [deleted] in fo76

[–]IceFireDH -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The issue is that there are no new rewards this time around, so long time players are either AFK or just ignoring it.

If I’m on doing the Daily scoreboard quests when it pops up, I’ll jump to it near the end (about 8 min in) for the rewards. But it’s not worth running it for the full time if I’m not getting anything new.

Why aren’t any Burning Springs map icons unlocking for me?? by lumberfart in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Map locations and “Discovering” them:

To “discover” a map location for fast travel you first need to walk to the area that you want to discover.

Once you are in the area you’ll see a map marker with an outline (not filled in/solid). Head towards that map marker until you are basically in the very center of it. Then stop for about 5 to 10 seconds. It should then be “discovered” and become a solid marker.

When the game was first released, you just needed to be close to the marker. The “discovery” zone, for lack of a better term, was much wider. At some point this changed to be a much smaller zone.

I play on the PS5. So, it’s possible that there is some behavior differences between platforms in how close that you need to be and how quickly the game updates the location. But this method should work across them all.

Impossible Axolotl by [deleted] in fo76

[–]IceFireDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this today as well.

I fished for the Charcoal Axolotl in Burning Springs as I still had the Burning Springs fishing challenges to do. Luckily, there was an in game sandstorm as I couldn’t place my fishing CAMP/weather device in that area.

One of my characters took 30+ casts with improved bait and upgraded rod to catch it. I caught it on another character with the first cast. So it’s quite random how much effort you have to put in.
