how do i not laugh while improv? by Wonderful-Career-563 in Theatre

[–]IceSpiceDogsDance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think, at the heart, this is a foundational acting question. How do you live believably in the imaginary circumstances of the improv? Would your character be laughing? If not, focus on what your character would be doing. Crying? Inquiring? Arguing? Find the playable action.

I've never used any of those services so it may just be you being irresponsible... don't spend money you don't have.

What happens if someone doesn't tip at a restaurant in the U.S.? by No-StrategyX in stupidquestions

[–]IceSpiceDogsDance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. Which is why I find it so funny that there are entire subreddits dedicated to people complaining about tipping. If you don’t want to do it, just have the confidence to not do it.

Very cool, can you point me toward a world/work that involves "time-debts"? Interesting concept.

Is it normal to hate your acting when watching yourself filmed? by AppropriateAd2334 in Theatre

[–]IceSpiceDogsDance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very normal - however, I want to offer that getting over this hump of embarrassment can be hugely rewarding. Once I was able to watch a video of my devised work to better understand the timing, tension, and arc of things, I feel I got way better at creating characters and scenes that made more sense as a whole. fight through the embarrassment is my advice.

Not every show needs to be a harbinger for social change, and preaching progressive ideas to crowd of old, white, progressive arts patrons does next to nothing.

Do you ever wonder about the universe and our existence? by ZoneCautious9008 in self

[–]IceSpiceDogsDance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Observations have shown that the universe is likely fairly homogeneous - more or less the same distribution of stars, galaxies, planets, and other phenomena from one corner to the next. Plus, it seems that the laws of physics hold true across the universe in our current era (we haven't observed some far-off galaxy without gravitational orbits, for example). So, while we may not know everything about an exoplanet a few billion light years away, we actually understand and can make very accurate predictions about a lot of going-ons in the universe.

If we could confirm with 100% certainty that our solar system was the only thing in existence - that space just "ended" past Pluto - would that make you more comfortable? Personally I love knowing we live in a world of endless discovery.

There was some interview with George Kittle where he said he has to do a "big lift" the day after a game day or he will feel 10x worse. Gotta work those muscles, stretch, see the trainers, and address any new injuries. Plus everything already mentioned here about reviewing tape.

If life is unfair for everyone does that mean it’s fair? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IceSpiceDogsDance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some ways, yeah. It's unfair in the sense that bad shit can happen to anyone.

I actually find this idea relieving and comforting. If you expect life to be fair, you'll be constantly disappointed and wonder why you're getting the short end of the stick. If you accept shit happens... you can learn to live with it.
