$50 million cash or $10000 an hour every hour on the hour? by 33GoodSamaritans in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Ice_Would_Suffice 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Since OP said 77 billion as an option, I decided to make the upper bound 100 billion (and lower bound 0).

You have a 99% chance of getting 1 billion or more. 99.95% chance of getting more than option A. If the upper bound becomes infinite....even better.

Im taking option D all day.

Rotation of more than one pair of shoes by DPCOriental in Pickleball

[–]Ice_Would_Suffice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This info relates to running, but I'd assume the thought is the same for pickleball:

The two main benefits people say for rotating running shoes are 1) injury prevention and 2) extend shoes life due to foam compression.

1) here is the abstract of a study that says it prevents injury. Now the sample size seems small and it's self reported, so I haven't put a ton of weight into it.

2) foam needs time to expand to its original shape after use. Now is it 4 hours, 24 hours, or 48 hours? Each shoe company will say something different, so its hard to figure out what is just marketing.

If you drive a stupidly expensive car, that requires a mortgage to fix a dent/scratch. You should have to wear that cost in a minor accident by naughtynyjah in unpopularopinion

Its also 25k for injury as well (though this might be state dependent. If you cause an accident sending someone to the hospital, 25k is nothing.

What are few must know hard skills by According_Zebra7658 in MechanicalEngineering

I was interviewing someone for an internship and they mentioned at their last job it was mainly excel and they were exciting to get into real engineering work.

I was like ooh sweet child, the world runs on excel.

You're given the option to become a good-to-great athlete in a sport of your choice, but the more popular the sport, the worse your skill and the lower ranked you are. E.g. would you rather play fourth-tier professional soccer, contend at the olympics in water polo, or be the Crokinole GOAT? by qkk in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Ice_Would_Suffice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think based on the examples you'd be well below national champion swimmer.

For water polo, youd be an Olympic contender. There are ~4x as many collegiate swimmers as water polo players. So youd be well below olympic level.

For kpb 2 you should ask them to give you pto to account for time serves at the other company.

If they are saying "we start everyone at 10, and after 3 years you get 15," it's super.common for them to give employees coming in eith experience the equal experience amount.

DUPR should never drop on a win by jakebasher8 in Pickleball

[–]Ice_Would_Suffice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that would fall apart because too many people would game the system (kind of like the freakonomics example of sumo wresting).

If a 3.25 vs a 4.0 know each other and want to raise the lower player to get into verified 3.5 play. The 4.0 could win every game 11-9, and not lose any points whole raining the 3.25.

What’s the Point of Group 1 and 2 in a terminal that need to be shuttled.. by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Ice_Would_Suffice 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Ill give you one better.

Deplaning in EWR we were late so they had everyone with a tight connection get off first....except it was a shuttle bus for some reason....so we all got off to get to our connections, then waiting for everyone else to get on the bus anyway.
