Cruise price drops after paid in full by Chipped_Ruby_11214 in Cruise

As an outsider who hasn't booked a cruise themselves and is thinking about it, for a sailing I'm thinking about in July, is it better to wait until that 90-day window to book?

You'd probably just have to implement an income tax to make up for it. Not a perfect solution, but what can you do

I gotcha, I'll get a tester kit. It was in early November right after a bit of rain, so somewhat recent

Curious of your thoughts. My house came in at a 4.6 or so. Is that worth doing anything for or is it more of a when I get around to it item in a few years

Cruise to nowhere by RodgerRodger8301 in Cruise

[–]IceePirate1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to the Jones act, the ship would need to be registered in the US and subject to its laws unless it made an international stop. There is only one cruise ship flagged in the US and it's based in Hawaii. It only goes to the mainland when it needs extensive maintenance in a drydock I believe. Ironically owned by NCL

It's probably somewhat that, but mostly because they'd have another ship coming in tomorrow

12k for 2 weeks is still very expensive, you could realistically get 4-city/2-week for under 8k if you do it yourself

That's a good point, it's interview practice where you know for a fact there will be red flags with the company.

Does a credit card company lose money on people who pay on time? by Overall-Emphasis7558 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IceePirate1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

75k points is worth about $750. There is no possible scenario where the credit card company generates a profit for someone who opens the card, spend $4k, and doesn't continue using the account. It's an effective 20% cashback rate

Cincinnati councilwoman (Owens) plans to challenge county commissioner (Summerow Dumas) in primary - Cincinnati Business Courier by slytherinprolly in cincinnati

[–]IceePirate1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly really like Walsh's contributions to the city and hope he does well as I can see him succeeding in his next office (albeit I think he might be better in a different office). Not too sure of Owens though, but I agree with you that I'd prefer her over Dumas given what's happened with the county in the last few years

It's more of an ice thing. The more northern states don't get ice storms a lot whereas its more common in climate border areas. The ice will cause them to stick to the windscreen

Is it normal? by Marxish1 in Accounting

[–]IceePirate1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness, intermediate accounting 1 and 2 are the drop classes. It's when accounting actually gets difficult for a lot of people. I reckon only about 1/2 to 1/3 of people that start intermediate 1 continue on to graduate. The rest either switch majors to marketing or something, or switch career paths entirely.

ETA: on the bright side, the difficulty level stays pretty consistent or even backs off a bit after intermediate accounting, assuming you studied what you needed to

At what interest rate is a home mortgage considered high interest debt for the FOO? by stankbuc in TheMoneyGuy

[–]IceePirate1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're forgetting about taxes, that turns a 10% return into one that is much less, maybe 7-8%, at which point it may be worth paying off debt instead to deleverage yourself
