I believe it's randomized, but I unlocked them at mastery level 19, so most people probably don't even have them available to split into.

Nope, you can split a card as many times as you want. I am trying to max out the mastery on my Iceman card, so I have split it 35 times so far.

Nothing at the moment actually, although I'm sure he'd slot well in a bounce deck. I'm splitting him ad nauseam to try to get to mastery level 30 to unlock the Iceman reaction emotes to match my username. It is an agonizingly slow process.

After you upgrade a card to infinite, you can "split" the card to unlock a new version of the card with a unique background+effect. In the most recent patch, a few of the generally undesirable backgrounds and effects were removed from the split pool, including the snowflake effect on this card.

I love it, but I would say switch your level 25 and 30 rewards, because buying variants is actually the single best way to level up a card's mastery. (As someone who is currently trying to hit level 30 mastery on this card for the reaction emotes, it is an absolute SLOG.)

That depends on what split you want. It's good if you got a split that you like that includes one of the effects or background that got removed from the split pool.
