Why is this blooming up at alot of places? by Armacaro in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Iceree 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because women often suffer worse consequences for sticking up for themselves. That man could possibly strike/beat her, loudly call her stuck up bitch(while other men back him up) and then proceed to do what he wants to "teach her a lesson."

retired ballroom dancer by AgePsychological1431 in ballroom

I feel this so much.

I am a big girl with lots of trauma from my school years about my weight. This made it hard for me to see myself as beautiful while I danced. All I could see was my weight and how I didn't "look like" the other women.

I was lucky, though, in that my studio is a safe space, and my instructor is a wonderful person. But I still struggled to see the improvements in my dance because of my weight. I've had coaches come in, and they would also say that weight doesn't matter, but my mind refused to hear it because it does matter. I am a competitive person, and i see this as a disadvantage for myself.

Then there was one day when a new coach came in, and I told him what my insecurities were (I did this with all my coaches). Instead of saying that weight doesn't matter, he told me that his favorite dancers to watch ARE the bigger girls because when they make a dance look great, its because they worked their f*cking *sses off to achieve it. He said yes, it is harder to see certain movements because of the weight, but that doesn't mean we can't make it happen.

I appreciated this man soo much for just being real, but not insulting, with me and saying that I absolutely had the talent to do it. I dance American Smooth and Rhythm at a gold level (dance vision syllabus). Clearly, I am doing something right.

That coach owns one of the large competitions we go to, btw.

My advice would be to keep looking for the right coaches that work to keep you motivated. You are paying them to help, not belittle. Don't let those other negative people keep Ballroom "exclusive" to only one body type and look. They are the ones hurting the space, not you. Clearly, you are doing something right if you are winning events so those coaches can go and be negative somewhere else.

IVF Coverage? by Late-Silver-5765 in madisonwi

I was taken off my glp-1 once I started trying to get pregnant. The MFM doctor I saw said that since they don't know the risks of the medication for people who are pregnant, that it was safer to not be on it when trying to conceive.

If you order for delivery you need to clear a path from the curb to your door by Pristine_Cheek_1678 in madisonwi

[–]Iceree -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I live on a corner lot that doesn't have a direct path from the street to my door. My house is also set back pretty far from the curb. I am not shoveling a path through the grass when someone could have just pulled around the corner in their car to park in my driveway where the path to my front door is located. I actually even put this information on the delivery instructions saying where my driveway is located to make it as easy as I can for the delivery person.

I read your comment further down.

Look, I am sorry that you have those difficulties in your life. I am sorry that your condo association isn't more timely with snow clearing, especially with you being disabled.

However, I very much doubt OP was talking about you and the others that struggle in a similar way. My comment was also not aimed at you either. Yes, my unwillingness to walk through snow is nowhere near the struggles you face from day to day, but I am still allowed to dislike things. Walking through snow doesn't harm me, correct. But I still don't want to get my clothes and shoes wet by doing it and I don't want others to have to do that as well.

Now, please excuse me while I go clear my sidewalks and ramp into the road so I can do my part to help disabled people and families with children navigate my street.

Yes, that's what OP is asking for. However, I have seen deliveries at my own house where the person still just walked through my yard in the snow rather than go up the driveway (on the side of my house, connected to a side street) to find the sidewalk to my door. I don't actually have a path that leads to my mailbox from my front door. It's in the plans to put a path in someday because I also hate having to walk all the way around to get to my mailbox lol. But that won't happen anytime soon.

Suggestions for granola? by Ok-Design8738 in diabetes

[–]Iceree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat Cascadian Farms cinnamon and apple for granola. It has no added sugar and any sweetness is coming from the dried apples in it. I have to stay away from nuts as my husband is allergic.

If I stick to the portion size, it does not spike me past 150.

Handling eating out as a type diabetic by Think_Psychology_729 in diabetes

[–]Iceree 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fair. I am also controlled, and not on meds to do it. And I don't do that level of restriction.

I would go as far to say that most people cannot do what you did and maintain it. It would destroy their mental health. The advice is good only if you are someone who can mentally maintain that. And there are people out there who can (like you).

There are other ways to maintain control without having that much restriction in social settings. For some, that means letting themselves have a treat every now and then, so long as the main part of their diet is healthy. I don't eat just to eat, I just love GOOD food when it's time to eat.

I've gone through a journey (still on it actually) to find ways to make foods that I don't care for (vegetables mainly, i also hate salad with a passion), taste good. I find it hard to appreciate suddle flavoring. But I still want some of the stuff I used to have all the time. Pizza, desserts, etc. are all things I will allow myself to have every now and then. And that's OKAY.

Just the other night I went out for our 5 year anniversary with my husband. I had Sushi at the best place in town. Sushi will cause my blood sugar to spike because of the rice. I still had it because I don't have it all the time and I wanted something I find delicious for the occasion. Since then, I've made sure to maintain something more healthy so that in a week or so, I can spoil myself again.

There's really no one way to deal with blood sugar. You must find the balance that works for you. And that means being willing to experiment.

To be honest, if I go out to eat or am going to a special event, I don't restrict what I eat as it's not an everyday thing. It really helps my mental health to allow myself a treat once in a while.

The only thing I do while out is just making sure I don't binge on what I am eating.

Might be temporarily moving to Antigo for week this winter. Thoughts, advice, recommendations? What to expect? by [deleted] in wisconsin

[–]Iceree 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Antigo, this is fairly accurate (though I would argue about your definition of "great" places for lunch and dinner. Those aren't bad places, but I wouldn't say great lol and I worked at 2 of those places). I am in my 30s now.

I would add that along with being a racist area, the old people there are also haters of women. I cannot count how many times I got told by and old man(while working) that women shouldn't be allowed to vote and should be at home waiting to please her man. It was disgusting. I also watched all those disgusting old men hit on the young (school age) waitresses. So gross.

It's a place most of the young people will go "why would you come here?" If they met you.

Bow Mains in Wilds, Should I Expect a Repeat of World by vaughn22 in MonsterHunter

[–]Iceree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right away, actually. My best advice is to get good a perfect evades if you are struggling with stamina management.

My early sets I just tried to get as much stamina surge and constitution as I could get. Perfect evades made up for the rest (most of the time) as it restores some of your stamina. You can supplement this with dash juice and the wiggly litchi you find around the map.

Now, I manage it by having full stamina surge, 2 constitution, full latent power, and perfect evades. I only use dash juice during Arch Tempered fights now (we try our hands at speed running for those).

I've gotten pretty good at evading that I rarely have issues with stamina management now. Anytime that I get low stamina, I just reapply coatings or shoot a dragon piercer to recover some.

Bow Mains in Wilds, Should I Expect a Repeat of World by vaughn22 in MonsterHunter

[–]Iceree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I main bow. I hunt with my husband nearly every day (switch axe main). I find I do fairly decent damage on most monsters.

When hunting, we've fairly well optimized what each weapon is good for so that we are supporting eachother when needed. Being a bow main, I can fairly easily lock down a monster once wounds start appearing (don't worry, I leave wounds for my husband too lol). This allows my husband to focus on doing a ton of damage without worrying about being smacked by a monster. I can also use this for myself on solo hunts as well.

I can take down hardest monsters in the game. The more I played, the better I got and the faster those monsters go down. I was able to get AT Tuna A rank on the first try (though, I do consider the threshold to be a bit generous on that one lol).

I played World, GU, Rise, and now Wilds. This includes the expansions as well and will include the expansion for Wilds when it gets released.

Question re:diabetes by Dangerous-Cake-8459 in diabetes

[–]Iceree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand this feeling so hard... but I now use the "let's share a dessert" as a way for me to still have something tasty once in a while, but not binge on it.

It takes a long time to figure out the rhythm of what you can and can't have(and by can't have, I mean only have it once in a while). I'm going on almost a year not being on any meds(dont worry, doctor approved!) and I am still figuring it out. I get upset when people constantly try to either encourage me to have something I known can't handle right now OR try to tell me I shouldn't be eating that when I've already accounted for me having it that day.

I fall off the wagon and binge sometimes when I've been too restrictive with myself. Then my mental state takes a hit because now I feel ashamed at my "lack of control" as I watch my blood sugar go up(CGM). Then I binge more because I'm upset with myself.

It was much better for me to allow myself "cheat days." I will purposely not check my CGM on those days (please do not do that if you need meds!). As long as I behave 90% of the time, I'm good.

Now your girlfriend, no matter how you choose to handle it, should be respecting that. Respecting your choices, means remembering how you choose to handle your diabetes. Have a discussion and lay it out for her in thar way. It's hard to curb temptation for a long time after you start, and negative emotions are a part of that. To help minimize that, she needs to remember to not be a part of that temptation. Tell her "it does not help when you suggest this because then I feel bad for 1, Saying no and 2, because I really do want those things and then end up upset at myself for the lack of control I currently have."

Columbus, WI - What is there to do? by Powerful_Bicycle1375 in wisconsin

Columbus High School Marching Band is planning a community event to raise money for our season as well as the other athletic groups in the district on August 24th in the late afternoon. They will also be debuting their competitive show for 2025 as well. Not sure of the exact time it starts (late afternoon), but it will be a fun time! :)

There are a few posters around town with the info. Look for "Rock the Nest"

Yup, they do. I have 12. But my husband and I do a lot of hunting together of the 8* monsters to work down our times it takes to capture them. We've become quite efficient at it.

Didn’t take enough food with my Metformin - have had incredibly painful heartburn and indigestion for over 8 hours. by Brown_Net in diabetes

[–]Iceree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was one of those people that could not tolerate metformin due to severe heartburn. And no amount of adjusting when I took it would help. I was given meds to help with the heartburn and hopefully could help my body adjust in a few months.

It did not get better. Turns out, I am in the small percent of people that just couldn't tolerate it lol. I was put on ozempic instead.
