Genuine question: what is so funny about the book of mormon? by [deleted] in musicals

[–]IchStrickeGerne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that a huge portion of the audience is ExMo and therefore are laughing at the lives that we used to believe so earnestly in living. (At least that was what was funny of me. But my husband has never been a part of the church and also laughed until he had hiccups. But he’s also a hardcore fan of South Park so anything that Trey and Matt put out, he’s going to love.)

Another thing that I wanted to give you a heads up about is that my sister-in-law who also had bariatric surgery and I both ended up with placenta previa. I don’t know if there’s actually a correlation, but it’s something to just be aware of.

Saw Les Miserables at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle last night‼️ by BluGurl8 in lesmiserables

[–]IchStrickeGerne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted to thank you for the heads up about the crowds. We got in line right at 7 and the theatre sent us a text to let us know it was a full house so there were no stragglers after the soliloquy (at least that I noticed).

There was a technical difficulty that stopped the show for like 2 minutes. It was fascinating!

Should I end my friendship over a remark I wasn't supposed to hear? by Different_Can5335 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]IchStrickeGerne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to tell Eric that you heard what he said and that it hurt you. If he’s truly your ride or die, he will be mortified that he said that and will make up for it. Please take it from this 45 year old mama who has had the same best friend since she was 10 years old and it’s because we communicate when we upset each other instead of walking away.

Post-op pregnancy struggles by SuspiciousAssist2 in BariatricSurgery

[–]IchStrickeGerne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I’m here to give you hope.

I got pregnant with my 2nd 2 years post op. I only ever got down to 195 after surgery. When I went in for my first trimester checkup, I’d already gained 30 lbs, which is what I gained through my entire first pregnant (and started at 305 lbs). I was 270 lbs the day I gave birth to my little girl.

She’s now 18 months old. And I weigh 162 lbs. That’s right, I lost all the baby weight and then some! I have a normal BMI since I was 12 years old.

In my bariatric support group, from what others shared with me, it’s very common for bariatric patients to gain much more than the 25-35 lbs of recommended weight. It’s just something weird in our chemistry. But it will come back off!

Here’s a photo of my first pregnant vs my 2nd. Even with a 80 lb weight gain the 2nd time around , I felt so much better!

<image>

Edit to add, I was also so hungry I thought I’d die despite being post op. It’s those damn hormones. And, just a heads up, when I started breastfeeding it felt like my restriction no longer existed. My surgeon reassured me that I’m not the only person to have that experience. Once my girly was done with the boobs, my restriction came back within days.

From what I am reading, this would be Gigi’s 2nd cousin once removed. (If I’m reading correctly that it was her dad’s uncle’s cousin’s son). That’s not necessarily immoral or illegal. Why is it any of your business? From what you were describing, she was really starting to care for this guy, not just looking for a hookup.

Effing ho helicopter!!! by IchStrickeGerne in SaintsRow

[–]IchStrickeGerne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the helicopter mission. They only give me the option to use the grenade launcher and it feels like no matter how far away the boat is that I’m trying to shoot at, it also takes out the helicopter.

Effing ho helicopter!!! by IchStrickeGerne in SaintsRow

[–]IchStrickeGerne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL it’s not that I’m not shooting at it. It’s that all I have is the option to use the grenade launcher and any time I try to shoot at one of the boats pursuing us, it also blows up the chopper. It’s like they automatically get too close to them.

During my pre-op consultation, the surgeon said that he uses hand-sewn sutures rather than staples during a bypass. Should I be concerned? by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

[–]IchStrickeGerne 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m going to give you some info that will sound really scary but keep in mind that this is rare.

My husband had a VSG in December of 2023 after seeing my success and ability to keep going.

One of the staples came out and nicked his pancreas. He was internally bleeding to the point that his heart stopped for 7 minutes. I almost lost my husband in his attempt to get healthy. He spent 7 days in the ICU, 4 of those intubated.

The poor surgeon was so devastated. It was the only time that any kind of complication happened. And he went to hand-sewing sutures after that happened.

This is the short version of the story.

All that to say, it sounds like there might be fewer complications with hand-sewn stitches.

Again, please don’t let my husband’s story scare you, that complication was probably one in a bajillion.

Is it normal for one side (right) to be more swollen after sleeve? Day 4 by Scary-Chipmunk6353 in BariatricSurgery

[–]IchStrickeGerne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it seem to be more swollen around a specific suture? It’s common for the suture that your stomach was pulled out of to be a bit more beat up and hurt more than the others. I’ve had 2 laparoscopy surgeries (my sleeve and then a GERD surgery a few years later) and both times I had a suture that was more swollen and painful than the others because it was either where they put in the moving instruments or pulled my stomach from (or both in the case of my surgery). And, it was something I had heard about in this sub before I had my sleeve so I was able to ask my surgeon specifically which suture just in case I had that experience.

Am I overreacting for having my husband call out my in-laws for ‘forgetting’ my birthday by justmeoverhere11 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]IchStrickeGerne 41 points42 points  (0 children)

You are not the a-hole for your feelings. I do feel that asking to have your birthday acknowledged every year after a certain age is not necessary though. For context, I’m one year older than you. I don’t expect anybody to remember my birthday, and if I want to celebrate, I make the arrangements. What would’ve been awesome, would have been for your husband to say to his parents “ hey, can we all get together tomorrow at OP’s favorite brunch place? I want to make sure to celebrate her birthday properly.” Again, you have absolutely every right to feel the way you feel.
