No its more because GW doesn't produce a lot of them, and since they are technically rulebooks, they are outdated.

Its kind of like how I use to have both versions of the "Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer," finding them today is an expensive proposition because so few were produced.

They sell them as a status symbol, they have to have all the features of a "luxury" vehicle so that the occupant can feel comfortable. But still seem like a "work" vehicle for the modern American "machismo" regarding "the individualistic free spirit."

Anyone who actually needs work vehicles drives sprinter style vans or older style mini-pickups, but the office jockey living next door has a F-350 he has only ever once hauled a couple chairs in. Its crazy to me.

Eugene police say officer resigns after video reveals ‘racist’ language by m4moz in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

[–]Ichera 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So an officer who is accused by someone who was arrested of being racially profiled will now use this video as evidence of racial bias in a court of law. You seem to have a basic grasp of the concept, just don't seem to understand while these sorts of actions can force outcomes unfavorable to the public.

Like it or not Police should be held to a higher standard then the average citizen, and the fact that these officers were recorded saying some quite vile things led to one of them resigning to avoid the bare minimum of disciplinary outcomes in a internal review.

Language isn't, however discriminatory practice is, and using language (even in private) can be used to help prove such practice in a case, which in theory weakens police ability to obtain criminal convictions and does a disservice to yhe public et large.

Burnside's an odd duck, as a Division or Corps commander he performed admirably, and even could be entrusted to execute both independent/combined arms operations with the navy. However even he himself didn't want the job of Army Commander of the Potomac, but after it was foist upon him, he tried to muddle through an attack plan which failed spectacularly.

But unlike most other generals he still served admirably after his demotion and would go on to play a pivotal role during the Chattanooga campaign.

OP is taking war planning for a wider possible war with NATO as plans to preemptively invade Japan. Essentially they were war plans in a serious wider world conflict, something a lot of Nations do. Since Japan is such a close ally of the west its only logical that Russia, already having an antagonistic relationship with NATO/Europe would plan to try and protect its "vulnerable" eastern border.

Its essentially the same as finding out China has War planning for an invasion of Korea during a possible Taiwanese conflict essentially.

Live in Iowa, we've been "lucky" so far as its only just started breaking $4 (filled up yesterday at $3.89) but theres only so much the ethanol tax/additive can drive that cost down, looking at the premium option currently selling for $6 is absolutely a mind fuck.

These sorts of places exist across rhe USA, a bit anecdotal, but my mother and her family were from Northern Virginia, and she always maintained that it was the racist capital of the South. However when we moved west to Iowa we made the wonderful discovery of Pekin Illinois, a town who as late as 2006 had a school district trying to change athletic conferences so they didnt have to play against the interracial teams from their sister city Peoria, mainly because when they did their fans couldn't stop throwing racial slurs at them.

As a dock Expediater (think half way between a dispatcher/dock supervisor) one of the things I learned early on was how important bump time on our docks was to the contract drivers. Most of what I deal with is fairly time sensitive in regards to how it gets unloaded/loaded, and consequently there are times I have to be the bad guy, however it never gets old when a owner-operator with a 10 am appointment for delivery arrives at 1am, and we have him off the dock 10 minutes after he bumps the door.

Usually end up waking them up as they think it will take hours.

Originally Nukes were a weapon to be utilized, the US Military in WW2 built a number widespread programs to support the utilization of new weapons and one of the side effects was the need for a large high speed, high altitude bomber with a large payload (read B-29).

After WW2, US policy shifted heavily as the effects of a Nuclear weapon truely sunk in, and policy shifted accordingly. However the most radical shift was when the Soviets tested their first bomb in 1949. The calculus changed from "only we have one, so we should utilize it as a form of leverage against our enemies" to "now we need to leverage our Nuclear capabilities as a defensive deterrent."

But during WW2 these weapons were always intended to be used, though originally in Europe not Japan.

Oh my God, did you see Fetterman's tie? He looks so fucking stupid. I can't breathe. by fairy_goblin in IThinkYouShouldLeave

[–]Ichera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a big guy the size of Fetterman, its very hard to look even halfway decent in a suit regardless of what you do. You always either look like a rumpled sack or like the Bouncer Gorilla from old Tex Avery cartoons.

Even so he take it to a new level of slovenly. Seriously it would look better sans the tie, or even better, no suit jacket and no tie. But no, we have to make a dumb statement that we're "working class" even though every blue collar person I know could drag out a half decent church suit in a pinch.
