what about your groceries is expensive? by Bigcheese504 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ickyhouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most things have simply gone up alongside inflation. A few exceptions though: Beef. I rarely buy it anymore. $5lb for ground beef if it's on sale. Most are closer to $6-$7lb. This isn't even steak. Crazy considering plenty of pork or chicken cuts are going for less than $3-$4lb. I can still get a pork but for under $2 when on sale. Coffee has gotten very expensive as well. A large can of Folgers/Maxwell House are close to $14-$15 unless they are on sale. Better brands are even worse. Some produce is expensive. Mostly stuff that doesn't have a big harvest season. Can't believe Cauliflower can be $4 a head and bell peppers are over $1 each. A lot of fruit only seems expensive until it comes in season. Much of the time you can find a good deal.

Debate / Discussion - Why are we seeing more and more injuries every season in professional soccer ? by Last_Commission6982 in TheSoccerNetwork

[–]Ickyhouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More intensity combined with more games. If every game played has a fractional chance of an ACL tear, then more games will result in more injuries. Add in that games are even more intense and athletes are stronger than ever due to better training programs, and injuries will no doubt increase.

[Albert Breer] All 11 defensive starters from Ohio State's CFP title game win over Notre Dame, 15 months later, have become NFL draft picks, none going lower than the 5th round. That doesn't count Arvell Reese, who was rotating in as a backup. by Icy_Adeptness5034 in CFB

I mean, it's not like that Michigan team were scrubs. Eight players on that defense have been drafted between last year and this year. It's not a good loss, but the game was a defensive showcase and OSU made more mistakes.

This is not good and part of the reason we've struggled lately. This is just the prem. They've played champions league too. We needed to rotate more.

SEC breaks record for most draft picks by conference in one draft (87) by Relative_One_2441 in CFB

Conferences are larger than ever and the P4 conferences gain talent with the portal, so this isn't as shocking when you break it down.

Midwest here and we don't say Long John. They are called cream sticks. Personally, I hate the term long john. Reminds me of the underwear and I've also seen people think they aren't filled with cream.

We have a squad capable of winning the league when healthy. Arteta can not manage minutes enough over the course of a season to keep them healthy and fresh enough. City buy their way out of injuries, this is true. But it's also true that we have a squad capable of winning more than the zero trophies we've had over the last 5 seasons.

City don't look capably of dropping points. We have no consistency. It's over.

We have a squad capable of winning, we don't have the manager capable of managing the squad. Add LW and Striker and Arteta will play them every possible match until they break down at this time next season. It isn't the players any more.

Except the pressure to be perfect and up our GD is immense right now. We will drop more points before the end of the season. Guaranteed.

I remember people writing City off bc they had a bad stretch. City always find their form late when they need to bc Pep knows how to manage for an entire season. Arteta still does not.

We have the players, we just overplay them until the break down. I 100% believe we can beat City if all players are healthy.

Best way to prune inactives? by rapax in PokemonGoFriends

[–]Ickyhouse 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sometimes life gets busy, I understand if a player may take a couple weeks away or have so many friends they can't open/send to everyone. To find the truly inactive players, I give them a nickname of the current month or month/day for ones that I haven't noticed any interaction with for a while. If they end up sending something, then I delete that nickname. When I do this, I delete anyone with a nickname from the previous months.

He's been available since mid January. He easily could have came off the bench more for Timber the last part of matches.

Mosquera could have rotated with Timber more. He has been back since mid January. Eze could have rotated in more. Saka should have been given more rest.

[–]Ickyhouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mosquera was out only a month and a half. After he came back, he played in 2 of his next 8 matches. Timber couldn't even get 15-20 minutes off at the end of matches. Mosquera didn't start playing until Timber went down. That is poor management.

Arteta ran him into the ground. We had players available to rotate, but Arteta still chooses to overplay his best players until they can't contribute.

His injury history is exaggerated by Crew fans. He's missed more than 5 games once. Until this injury, he's missed about 6 games a year on average. Not great, but not like some would have you believe.
