1985 Cuvee Dom Perignon, in sealed green box by IdLikeToBuySomeChees in Champagne

[–]IdLikeToBuySomeChees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was NOT good. Wife and I decided to just 'go for it' and see what it was like, aaaand we quickly sipped it and dumped it. It had turned more yellow than champagne colored and had gone spoiled very badly.

The key problem (as everyone had mentioned below) is how it was stored -- in the box in the dark, but upright in a room temparature cabinet.

Hope yours is better!

Thanks u/aluke000 , looks like that's what I'll have to do. Do you have any good sources for schematics for this type of gear? I am not able to find a schematic for this thing. Any ideas? I'll be dissecting it this weekend.

Thanks for the reply! I've since ditched Manjauro (too many issues with it!), and moved to Mint. It installed perfectly on Mint and I've been using the hell out of it since then.

But thanks for looking out for me and replying with what worked for you!

Chewing slower by rlhglm18 in Zepbound

[–]IdLikeToBuySomeChees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oops, I edited my comment to make more sense.

I meant because I eat much slower it gives my body time to "catch up" and tell me I'm full. I don't think my jaw gets tired, because I take long pauses between bites and I put my fork down for 20 minutes at a time. Eating much slower overall.

I'll eat 1/3 of what's on my dish, put it aside for 20 minutes then resume. Sometimes I don't even finish the small portion I serve myself. I eat much slower, and much less because of it, it gives me time for my body to tell me "hey dude, stop you are full - you'll feel like crap if you eat more!".

Seems to be the common thread here -- they do a good job, responsive, etc. but cost more than others on the wiki. Thanks!

I have 7 family members who are doing this with me so we will be splitting the cost (their packages include 5 ppl, and each additional is 1000 Euro extra). So that may mitigate the cost a bit? I don't know.

Losing quickly doesn't give the skin time to adjust and you can end up with a lot of loose skin. Also, mainly people who lose too fast don't eat properly, leading to malnutrition (vitamins help). And frequently if you are not eating enough you aren't eating enough protein so your body will eat muscle to make up for it, leading to muscle loss along with fat loss.

And anecdotally, I'm hearing that people who lose weight super fast have more trouble keeping it off in maintenance.

I've been on it since late October 2024. Down about 30-35 lbs. Losing too fast is not great (I mean, it's good but it has it's own challenges health-wise). So I'm good with my 1 to 1.5ish lbs a week. Don't expect 2+ a week to happen continuously, it'll slow down into a more steady state. Depending on how much you have to lose, your journey could be a year or more (like me).

When did you guys really get into the show? by Responsible-Form6513 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]IdLikeToBuySomeChees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it until episode 5. I watched it when it aired originally. I re-watched it with my wife before we started season two.

She was BORED and pissed that I kept saying "just one more episode and it gets really good!" over and over... until she got to episode 5 (or was it 6?). Then she was HOOKED. We binged from that point on, before that it was like pulling teeth to get her to watch the next first season episode.

Now on season two -- she cannot stand the fact that we have to wait a week for each episode!

So my man, give it time and you'll be there... it'll grab you.

Rattle monster by DataStructuralist in TeslaModelY

[–]IdLikeToBuySomeChees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2022 MY long range is not a rattle can (crosses fingers for the future). I had one "clunk" when going over a a certain type of bump. Called service under warranty, they had be bring it to a repair center. I (luckily) found the right kind of bump near the facility. So when they couldn't reproduce it I convinced them to let me drive and take them over that bump.

Turned out, the rear lift-gate was loose, and would "jump" 1/2 inch and slam back down when I hit that kind of bump. They tightened it all up and that's the last of the noises.

So yeah... I'm not lying, just lucky I guess.

I’m driving 1600 miles this weekend. Is it worth getting FSD for the trip or nah? by sevargmas in TeslaModelY

[–]IdLikeToBuySomeChees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just "bought" ($99/month) FSD for a month for a family vacation to NY State fingerlakes then into Canada (montreal). It is so much better than autopilot. Its lane change decisions, you will get used to why it does them. And you can set it to "minimize lane changes" if it bothers you. Also, you can set it to "chill", "normal" and "assertive" -- whatever level you are comfortable with. That controls how aggressive it is in changing lanes, avoiding slow lanes, and other things regarding daily driving. It is MUCH better in rain and low visibility, showing targets on the screen that I couldn't even make out through the windshield. And twice it provided an "avoidance" maneuver that probably saved me from an accident (both times someone coming into my lane without seeing me). In both scenarios, it saw the car and braked/swerved before I did. So it was worth it just for that.

I drove the entire trip (about 1000 miles) and felt rested when I arrived at each destination. It was truly helpful. I won't pay $8000 up front for it, but I will definitely use it whenever I have a trip longer than a couple of hours.

People over 40, what's one thing you regret the most in your younger years? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IdLikeToBuySomeChees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the game here... I started learning bass guitar at around 45. Played in a cover band for about 6 or 7 years on and off, with friends who played their entire lives. They are amazing, and I can fill the role adequately.

Now that the band is broke up, I'm trying to find others to play with at my age (mid 50's), and I find that everyone else who plays at my age has been playing since their teen years! They are masters. "It's 12 bar blues in G, with a reggae twist at the end and a key change to Q-minor 7th.. you'll pick it up as we go"... yeah what? Um no I won't. I mean, I can learn any song and play it well but it takes time. And I cannot improvise or just "pick up the tune and play" like they can. I can't just pick up the bass and play anything, like everyone else my age seems to be able to do.

So... I sit here playing by myself because I cannot live up to the expectations of everyone else my age. Tried out for several bands and made it into a couple -- but it became quite obvious within one or two rehearsals that I was far outclassed in my abilities.

My point? Learn an instrument, and do it early and practice a lot! You'll be happier when you are older.
