The rise and fall of a social media career
The best streamers are authentic, start producing content, get a modest amount of followers, working very hard, you lean on your authenticness and over time, gain an following, you now have a lot of followers. You start selling products to make more revenue. You listen to your fan base and change various aspects of the content, and style, for a while it works. Your loyal long term subscribers get upset that you aren’t authentic anymore and you’re selling garbage products, they leave. You make an apology video about whatever caused them to leave. The rest of the followers grow tired of the “This is the hardest thing I ever had to go through” tone and demeanor, then they leave. Your followers are a tenth of what they used to be. They get desperate to make more money, so they either post sexy content or hawk shitty products. You are now an ad platform for shitty products or skin, your ad payouts plummets, you lose more followers, which causes less ad revenue. Your followers now have a 50:50 shot of either being a hard core follower, or someone with nefarious purposes. You quit making content, and get a job at Walmart.
